Chapter Eighty-Five: Chu Feng’s Arrangements
Of course, Chu Feng was not about to wait for Gao Tingchang to come open the car door for him. He had only said it to mock Gao Tingchang. As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Feng jogged all the way out of the Public Security Department, where a police business van was already waiting for him outside.
“To the airport.”
After getting into the car, Chu Feng said that to the driver, then took out his phone and called Ma Han.
“Captain, take your men and head back to South Harbor City at once. Bring Old Jin’s wife and child there, and bring that suspect back as well. I’m on the way to the airport now.”
Chu Feng explained everything to Ma Han, and specifically reminded him to watch that Jess carefully, and not let him play any tricks on the road.
Before long, Chu Feng had arrived at the airport in the police van. He went straight through the special passage and boarded a private jet prepared for him by Major General Gao.
“Director, this man named Chu Feng is treating you with far too little respect. We ought to find a chance to teach him a proper lesson.”
After Chu Feng left, Gao Yong sat in the office drinking tea with a man about his own age.
“He has backing now, so we cannot make a move easily. Besides, we can’t afford to offend that old gentleman in the capital either. We’ll discuss it again after Chu Feng returns from the capital.”
The moment Gao Yong heard the name Chu Feng, his teeth itched with hatred. Today, Chu Feng had crippled one of his trusted subordinates right in front of him, which was nothing less than a slap across his face.
But with someone in the capital protecting Chu Feng, he could do nothing to him. Otherwise, he really would have liked to test whose wrists were harder.
“I’ve already arranged everything. As long as that brat dares come back from the capital, I won’t let him off lightly. He crippled one of my men this time, and I certainly won’t sit by and do nothing.”
Gao Yong gave a pair of sinister laughs. He was the very picture of a petty man, bullying the weak and fearing the strong. When you were stronger than him, he would bow and scrape before you; but on the day you fell from power, he would be the first to rush out and kick you while you were down.
After two hours in the air, the private jet carrying Chu Feng landed steadily at the capital airport. Once off the plane, Chu Feng went straight to the special police unit on duty at the airport, borrowed one of their police cars, and drove directly to the Air Force Hospital.
Just as Chu Feng had gotten off the plane, Ma Han and the others also took a private jet to South Harbor. This time Ma Han brought a few more men with him, to prevent any accidents on the road.
Chu Feng drove the special police car at full speed, ignoring traffic lights completely. In just half an hour, he reached the Air Force Hospital. After parking, he headed straight for the second floor of the emergency ward.
“You’re finally back. Old Chen just lost consciousness. Hurry and take a look.” At the doorway of the ward, Major General Gao, whose heart was clenched with anxiety, saw Chu Feng and felt as though he had seen a great savior.
“Don’t let anyone in.”
After saying that, Chu Feng entered Old Chen’s room directly. Next, he would have to pour a great amount of lifespan into Old Chen; only then would it be possible to save his life.
Once inside, Chu Feng saw all kinds of tubes inserted into Old Chen’s body. At the moment, Old Chen had only fainted, and his vital signs were still fairly stable.
Chu Feng walked up to Old Chen, placed the wristwatch at his waist, and the hands on the dial began to spin madly.
They turned one hundred and fifty full circles before stopping. The lifespan on Chu Feng’s watch had dropped sharply from four hundred and fifty to three hundred. This time, to wake Old Chen from unconsciousness, Chu Feng had spent thirty years of lifespan from five people.
When the hands stopped, Chu Feng picked up the watch and removed all the tubes from Old Chen’s body, leaving only the oxygen tube.
After finishing this, Chu Feng wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked out of the ward. Old Chen’s vital signs were now stable, but he still had not woken up.
“Chu Feng, how is Old Chen?” Seeing Chu Feng come out, Major General Gao, who had been guarding the door, hurried up and seized his hand.
“Don’t worry. Old Chen is fine now, but he is still in a deep sleep. He should wake up in about two hours.”
Chu Feng’s words made Major General Gao breathe a sigh of relief. After getting Chu Feng’s confirmation, he quickly went to report to his superiors.
Chu Feng sat alone on the chair by the door and rested for a while, then went to Old Jin’s room. He needed to tell Old Jin everything that had happened in South Harbor.
When he pushed the door open and went in, Old Jin was looking through some documents and taking notes. When he looked up and saw Chu Feng, he set the papers and pen on the table at once, stood up from his chair, walked to Chu Feng, and knelt down directly.
“Chu Feng, thank you for saving my wife and child. From now on, whatever you tell me to do, I’ll do. My life is yours.”
After kneeling, Old Jin was even going to kowtow to Chu Feng, but Chu Feng stopped him. He could not bear such a grand gesture from Old Jin.
“There’s no need to thank me. To be honest, if you had not kept a conscience and refrained from harming Old Chen, then there would be nothing for me to do now.”
Chu Feng helped Old Jin to his feet and made him sit on the sofa, first allowing him to calm himself.
“I’ve already sent people to bring your wife and child here. By tonight, you’ll all be reunited. But I need to tell you two bad pieces of news first, so you can be prepared.”
After thinking it over, Chu Feng decided that he should tell Old Jin first about the fact that his wife and child had been exposed to drugs, so that he would have some psychological preparation.
“Go ahead. I can take it.”
Old Jin hesitated for a moment, then looked at Chu Feng. His eyes were full of determination.
“Your wife and your child were both injected with narcotics. However, I already used a rather miraculous massage technique to eliminate the hidden addiction within their bodies. But that is not a long-term solution. You still need to take them for regular checkups.”
Chu Feng told Old Jin the whole story from beginning to end. He could not hide something like this from him; he had to let him face it. Only by truly facing it himself would he not be helpless before such things in the future.
After hearing Chu Feng’s words, Old Jin fell silent as well. The happiness he had felt moments ago vanished from his face.
“I understand. I’ll have them both stay in a rehabilitation center for a while. If it’s confirmed that neither of them will relapse, then I’ll bring them back out. I won’t make that mistake again.”
Five or six minutes later, Old Jin finally raised his head and said this to Chu Feng. Chu Feng saw a spark of life in his eyes.
That spark was the longing for a better life in the future. Old Jin had already come out of the shadows, and he would bravely face the life ahead of him.
At a little after six in the evening, Old Chen woke from unconsciousness. After waking, he saw Chu Feng and Major General Gao guarding beside him, and he immediately knew that Chu Feng must have saved his life again.
