Chu Feng and Ma Han revealed their identities before entering the room where the Remnant Wolf and his group were being held.

“Are you surprised? Did you think you were about to die?” Chu Feng could tell from the look in Remnant Wolf’s eyes that something was off.

After the special police had taken Remnant Wolf and the others away, they’d assumed their lives wouldn’t last much longer. But to their astonishment, once they were brought to the detention center, the special police simply locked them up and did nothing else.

“I found five death row inmates to take your place. Who would have thought both your organizations would each send a killer? It seems your lives aren’t worth much in your organizations’ eyes.” Chu Feng was lying through his teeth—neither organization had actually sent anyone that day.

Remnant Wolf and Mad Dog both looked crestfallen at Chu Feng’s words. Though they knew their organizations’ rules were strict, they hadn’t expected their own people to send assassins to silence them.

Of course, neither of them knew the truth and took what Chu Feng said at face value. If they’d known their organizations hadn’t actually sent anyone, they might have found some comfort in their loyalty.

“I have one question for you. Whoever answers it will get a chance to live. If neither of you can, then I’ll make it quick for you both.”

Chu Feng wasn’t bluffing this time; if they could give him the answer he wanted, he’d keep his word.

“You’ve both met your employer. Did you ever hear him mention having someone planted in the hospital to gather information for him?” The reason Chu Feng rushed to the detention center to question Remnant Wolf was precisely to find out if Mister had managed to infiltrate someone into the hospital.

“No, I only met him once and he never mentioned that. He gave me your whereabouts, that’s all.” Mad Dog thought hard, but in the end only shook his head. As much as he wanted to live, he couldn’t tell Chu Feng what he wanted to know.

“The first time I met him, I think I heard him mutter someone’s name to himself. I’m not sure if that’s who you’re looking for.” Remnant Wolf had to think for a long while before recalling that when he first arrived in China and met Mister, he’d heard him absentmindedly mention a name.

“What was the name? Did Mister reveal anything else?” Chu Feng perked up at this and grabbed Remnant Wolf’s arm.

“I heard the character ‘Jin’—that’s all. I didn’t catch anything else, and I’ve only ever heard Mister mention it that once.” After much thought, that was all Remnant Wolf could recall.

Chu Feng was shocked. Among those close to Elder Wang, only Old Jin’s name contained the character ‘Jin’. Could Old Jin have betrayed Elder Chen?

“Let’s go back and check the hospital’s surveillance from the past couple of days.” Chu Feng said no more, and with Ma Han, drove straight back to the hospital.

Inside the detention center, Gray Wolf, watching Chu Feng and Ma Han leave in silence, breathed a sigh of relief. He’d thought that after talking, Chu Feng would kill them.

Back at the hospital, Chu Feng headed straight for the central control room, where every surveillance feed was displayed.

“Find me all the surveillance from the second floor of the emergency wing, yesterday afternoon. Especially these two rooms—pull up all the footage and replay it.” Chu Feng ordered the security guard to replay all of yesterday’s second-floor camera feeds, paying special attention to the storage room where Remnant Wolf had been held and the patient room where he and Ma Han had discussed their plan.

The security guard was hesitant—hospital policy forbade this sort of thing—but Ma Han immediately showed his badge. After a glance, the guard said nothing further and brought up the footage.

“Speed it up eight times. Only pause when I tell you to.” At normal speed it would take too long, so Chu Feng watched the playback at eight times speed.

Two hours of footage flew by in just over ten minutes. When it was over, he hadn’t noticed anything out of the ordinary.

So Ma Han told the guard to replay it again, this time at only four times speed.

“Pause at 14:28:28. Zoom in on that corner.” Ma Han pointed to a spot on the screen.

The guard zoomed in, and Ma Han pulled a small magnifying glass from his pocket, holding it up to the screen to scrutinize a face that appeared.

“Can you make it out? This face looks oddly familiar.” The zoomed image was fuzzy, and Chu Feng couldn’t immediately place the familiar features.

“Look—there’s a scar near his ear,” the security guard suddenly pointed out.

Ma Han quickly moved the magnifier to the man’s left ear. Sure enough, there was a small scar exactly as the guard had said.

“Let’s go. Keep everyone in the hospital who has a scar near their left ear—they’re all suspects.” Chu Feng thanked the security guard; without his sharp eyes, who knew how much longer it would have taken to find a lead.

To be thorough, Chu Feng asked Elder Chen to join them. He was worried that if the mole wasn’t found and the staff got wind of it, morale would suffer.

“Chu Feng, everyone’s here. What exactly are you doing? Elder Chen and I have an experiment to discuss,” Old Jin complained, not understanding why Chu Feng had assembled everyone.

“Well, last night a mosquito escaped from the hospital lab. This mosquito carries a virus, so I need to check everyone to see if you’ve been bitten,” Chu Feng explained. He’d intended to tell the truth, but with Elder Chen present, he worried the mole might panic and do something desperate if exposed.

Chu Feng first checked the soldiers on duty—none of them had scars near their ears.

Then he moved on to Elder Wang and Old Jin, specifically checking whether Old Jin had a scar by his left ear. If he did, then Old Jin was very likely the mole.

He started with Elder Wang, carefully inspecting him and finding no scar near the left ear. Then, he walked straight to Old Jin.

Old Jin’s face betrayed a hint of unease as Chu Feng approached. Chu Feng noticed the change, but hoped against hope that Old Jin wasn’t the traitor.
