Originally, he was supposed to be a doctor, yet he spoke like a street thug. It was hard to tell whether this fellow was truly a physician or just a petty hoodlum. While Chu Feng, General Gao Zhongjiang, and Li Qun were enjoying a lively conversation in the hospital room, the door was suddenly thrown open and several people entered, all clad in white coats.

“Who let you in here? What are the guards outside even doing? Why didn’t they stop you?” Gao Zhongliang’s face darkened instantly as a crowd barged into the room.

“Sir, there were too many of them. We couldn’t stop them, and those doctors even threw water on us.” At that moment, the two soldiers who had been standing guard outside finally entered, their uniforms soaked with some unknown liquid.

“What do you want? If you have something to say, take it outside. Don’t disturb the patients’ rest,” General Gao said, his expression even grimmer as he looked at his soldiers, their clothes stained with the mysterious liquid.

“It was this young man who assaulted my assistant, and those two soldiers outside attacked him as well. Since you’re all soldiers, let’s talk about the law. Why did you hit him? Is there no law anymore?” The lead doctor shouted, completely ignoring the fact that this was a hospital room where loud noise was forbidden.

“Did you two hit someone outside just now? Tell me exactly what happened. If either of you dares to lie, I’ll break your legs myself,” General Gao demanded. He hadn’t expected his own men to beat up a doctor’s assistant—normally, soldiers would never stoop to squabbling with civilians.

“I’ll explain,” Chu Feng interjected, unwilling to let the two soldiers take the blame for him. He recounted the entire incident to General Gao.

When Chu Feng finished, not only General Gao but even Li Qun, who lay in bed, clenched his fists, his face livid. If only he could stand, he would have beaten those doctors senseless.

“You two—find that assistant and give him another beating. Break both his arms and legs. If you fail to carry out this order, I’ll strip you of your military status!” General Gao suddenly stood up, roaring at the two soldiers. His outburst startled the doctors, who shrank back in fear.

“And you lot—if any of you dare insult my soldiers again, I’ll obliterate you. Get out!” General Gao bellowed at the doctors. His mood was especially foul today; to think someone would dare insult his men right at the door.

“You’re breaking the law! How dare you soldiers attack people? I don’t believe you can escape justice. I’m calling the authorities right now!” The lead doctor pulled out his phone, but before he could dial, Chu Feng strode over and kicked him aside.

The man’s phone clattered to the ground, only for Chu Feng to stamp on it, crushing it completely until the screen splintered beyond repair.

“I’d better call your hospital director instead. Let’s see what he has to say about today’s events.” Chu Feng took out his own phone and called Liu Shuiqing.

Once connected, Chu Feng briefly explained the situation, and after hanging up, Liu Shuiqing hurried over.

“Even if the director comes today, I’ll see to it that the law protects my rights!” The doctor remained oblivious to the situation, still threatening Chu Feng and the others.

Within minutes, the door swung open and Liu Shuiqing walked in, two security guards in tow.

“Director, this man assaulted me and smashed my phone! You must stand up for me!” The doctor rushed over, tears in his eyes, and pleaded with Liu Shuiqing.

“Shut up! If you say one more word, I’ll fire you on the spot!” Liu Shuiqing snapped, his hands trembling as he looked at the figure standing behind Chu Feng.

These doctors didn’t recognize the man’s status, but Liu Shuiqing did—standing behind Chu Feng was a lieutenant general.

“General Gao, I’ll handle this matter personally and guarantee your satisfaction.” Liu Shuiqing wasted no words, making his pledge straight to the general.

What? The director is calling him ‘General’? Has the director gone senile, or did he make a mistake?

“Director, I know I was wrong! I’ll apologize to him—I’ll never make such a mistake again!” Realizing the gravity of the situation, the doctor immediately fell to his knees, begging for mercy. Just a moment ago, he was complaining about being mistreated, and now, in less than a minute, he was groveling on the floor.

“Director Liu, my men have just apprehended the assistant. Let him explain what happened himself, so no one can say I’m abusing my authority,” General Gao said, waving for the assistant to be brought in.

The two soldiers dragged the assistant into the room. The man had fainted, clearly having received a thorough lesson from the soldiers.

“Wake him up and let him tell the story himself,” General Gao ordered. One of the soldiers fetched hot water and splashed it onto the assistant’s face.

With a scream, the assistant leapt up, clutching his face. He had forgotten just how badly it had been battered—his face was as swollen as a pig’s head, yet he hadn’t even had a chance to put on ointment.

He inhaled sharply as pain shot through his face, forcing him to drop his hand.

“Xiao Niu, repeat what you just told me to the director. If you dare lie, I’ll ruin you right now,” his supervisor, Li Qun’s primary doctor, demanded.

Xiao Niu squinted open an eye and saw Director Liu Shuiqing, who he rarely encountered, standing beside a man in military uniform.

“Hurry up, or do you want another beating?” Chu Feng stepped forward and slapped him square on the mouth.

“I’ll talk, just stop hitting me! My face is killing me!” Xiao Niu whimpered, clutching his face, and hurriedly recounted the incident, this time without embellishment.

“Director Liu, this is an internal matter for your hospital. I’ll stay out of it,” General Gao said, waving for his men to leave.

Face dark, Director Liu led the doctors out. Xiao Niu’s supervisor was mortified—he had never expected to be fooled by his own assistant.

“From this moment on, if any hospital in the capital dares to hire this fool, I’ll make them my enemy. As for the rest of you—one rank demotion, each,” Director Liu declared coldly.

The ‘fool’ he referred to was, of course, Xiao Niu. This idiot had provoked a lieutenant general—luckily, the general had a good temper, or the man might not have lived to regret it.
