Zhou Yu nearly fainted from anger upon hearing what Li Yanran, his colleagues, and the surrounding crowd were saying.

Zhou Yu’s girlfriend—more precisely, his mistress—felt a bit embarrassed. She wanted to persuade Zhou Yu to leave quickly but wasn’t sure how to begin.

“Li Yanran, how can you allow the culprit to beat me here and not arrest him? I’m calling your chief right now.”

Zhou Yu immediately pulled out his phone to make the call. Li Yanran wasn’t afraid of him calling; even if their chief came, he would still have to treat Chu Feng with courtesy.

“Master Zhou, I’m in a good mood today, so I’ll play along with you. Call everyone you know over. If any of them can make me admit my mistake, I’ll kneel and kowtow to you.”

Chu Feng took a chair from nearby and sat down, crossing his legs with a disdainful look at the calling Zhou Yu. This rich second-generation heir had no real abilities and only bullied others by relying on his family’s power.

Hearing Chu Feng’s words, Zhou Yu quickly called his father and then gathered all his scoundrel friends.

Zhou Yu’s girlfriend kept staring at Chu Feng, suddenly feeling that he looked familiar. She seemed to have seen him somewhere before but couldn’t recall where.

“Yu, this guy looks so familiar. Haven’t we met before?” Hearing his girlfriend’s words, Zhou Yu scrutinized Chu Feng and did feel the same.

“Bro, if we have met before, just say so. Don’t wait until it’s too late,” Zhou Yu cautiously asked Chu Feng, afraid he might have offended someone he shouldn’t have.

“How could I possibly know someone like Master Zhou? Someone as wealthy and powerful as you, I wouldn’t dare associate with,” Chu Feng quickly stood up, moved his chair aside, and acted as if he didn’t know Zhou Yu at all.

Seeing Chu Feng’s disdain, Zhou Yu didn’t bother engaging further. Even if they had met before, Chu Feng must have been a small-time figure; otherwise, how could he forget?

Soon, over a dozen thugs entered, each holding baseball bats or steel pipes. They strutted arrogantly, their nostrils flared as if their eyes were on top of their heads.

“Brother Wei, this punk just hit me. Help me teach him a lesson. Tonight, I’ll take the guys out to celebrate,” one thug said. These were the friends Zhou Yu had called over; the rich heir often hung out with these hooligans.

“You punk, what street are you from, daring to hit Master Zhou? I guess you don’t want to survive here anymore.” The thug called Wei approached Chu Feng, speaking arrogantly.

Slap! Chu Feng struck Wei, sending him flying—such a thug didn’t deserve to speak to him.

“Damn, he just hit Wei! Brothers, get him! Don’t hold back!” One thug shouted, swinging a bat at Chu Feng’s head.

But Chu Feng didn’t move. Fighting these thugs would only dirty his hands. With a wave of his hand, a purple shadow flashed behind him.

Zi Yan had been following Chu Feng closely. Seeing his gesture, she didn’t hesitate to rush the thugs but didn’t strike harshly—she only knocked them down, leaving them unable to get up for a while.

Li Yanran, standing aside, recognized the purple-haired girl and recalled the incident at the abandoned factory where Chu Feng had borrowed their police car and had yet to return it.

However, Li Yanran had no intention of asking for the car back now; this wasn’t the time.

Just as the thugs were knocked down, a middle-aged man entered, flanked by two bodyguards.

Zhou Yu was so frightened seeing the purple-haired girl take down over ten thugs in under a minute that he nearly wet himself.

“Yu, who hit you? Tell me, and Dad will handle it,” a voice finally offered salvation amid Zhou Yu’s panic.

“Dad, I’m here. This guy hit me, and these cops won’t arrest him. Especially Li Yanran—she’s protecting the criminal.”

Upon seeing his father and the police chief arriving, Zhou Yu rushed over, playing the victim first.

Zhou Dayan, Zhou Yu’s father, was a wealthy man in the capital. He owned two jade shops near the hospital square, which had prospered under his management in recent years.

“Captain Li, what’s going on? Why didn’t you arrest the suspect after the incident?” The chief, who came with Zhou Dayan, questioned Li Yanran sharply.

“Chief, you might want to look at the young man behind me first. I wouldn’t dare offend him. Who could possibly afford to?” Li Yanran said, giving the chief a meaningful glance.

The chief turned and saw Chu Feng, nearly weakening at the knees and almost collapsing, saved only by two officers behind him.

“Mr. Chu, I didn’t expect to see you here. I hope all is well,” the chief greeted respectfully.

“Chief, you and Captain Li should head back. I’m here, so there’s no need for you to stay,” Chu Feng said, not wanting to make things difficult for Li Yanran.

Without a word, the chief waved at Li Yanran, and they left together.

Zhou Dayan, seeing the men he had called over leave without a word, realized the chief clearly didn’t dare offend the man before them.

“Young man, I don’t know how my son offended you. Please give me a hint. If it was my son’s fault, I will make him apologize,” Zhou Dayan, an old hand at these things, quickly lowered himself and approached Chu Feng to apologize and inquire. He believed that by humbling himself, Chu Feng would not make things harder for his son.

“It’s simple. Make your son kneel and kowtow. Otherwise, none of you leave today unless you bring Secretary Li Zeming here,” Chu Feng said disdainfully. As the saying goes, if the upper beam isn’t straight, the lower beam will be crooked. With a son like that, the father wasn’t much better.

“Young man, aren’t you being a bit too much? I’ve got some face in this small place. I hope you won’t be unreasonable,” Zhou Dayan’s face darkened instantly. Having his son kneel and apologize publicly would be a massive humiliation.
