Chapter 113: Launching the Arrest
Han Xuefang was worried about Chu Feng’s safety, so she wanted to persuade him to leave and lie low for a while.
“You two go back. Don’t stay at the hospital tonight, either. Go stay at my girlfriend’s place. And you’re not coming to work tomorrow. If you refuse, then we’re breaking up.”
Chu Feng had no other choice. If Han Xuefang insisted on coming to work the next day, something might happen, so this was the only way he could threaten her.
Hearing his words, Han Xuefang fell silent. She took Zi Yan by the hand and left the hospital room. The moment they stepped outside, tears began to roll down her cheeks.
Seeing Han Xuefang cry, Zi Yan shook her head. She could not understand how an ordinary woman like Han Xuefang had chosen a man like Chu Feng as her boyfriend. The two of them clearly belonged to entirely different worlds.
Chu Feng sat alone in Old Master Chen’s hospital room and took out his phone. He wanted to call his younger sister, but after hesitating for a while, he decided against it.
He had already gone to Shanghai twice to apprehend people, yet had not had the chance to return home and see his sister. Calling her now might distract him, so he forced himself to hold back.
Just as Chu Feng put his phone into his pocket, it began to ring. He took it out and saw that the call was from Long Feihu.
“Chu Feng, drive to the base immediately. The National Security Bureau accidentally located Blazing Sun’s hideout. Tonight, you’ll take Ma Han and the others and wipe them out.”
Long Feihu hung up as soon as he finished speaking. Chu Feng was shaken by the news. He grabbed his keys and hurried out.
He drove recklessly all the way to the base. By the time he entered, Ma Han and the others had already assembled and were waiting for him.
“Did you fly here? You got here fast. Sit down—I’ll brief you on the situation.” When Long Feihu saw Chu Feng arrive, he instinctively glanced at his watch. Only seven minutes had passed since he had made the call.
“Blazing Sun’s people are staying in this abandoned village. It was originally scheduled for demolition, but the project was halted for certain reasons. Your mission is to capture them all.”
Long Feihu explained the location of the hideout in detail. He also emphasized that the village was uninhabited, so they could use firearms, provided they were fitted with suppressors.
Once the mission was confirmed, Ma Han led Chu Feng and the others by car toward the abandoned village north of the capital.
Earlier that day, personnel from the National Security Bureau had passed through the area and suddenly noticed more than a dozen people living there who appeared to be foreigners. Their waists were unusually swollen, suggesting that they might be carrying guns.
The agents reported the situation to their superior. After more than two hours of careful investigation, they confirmed that the people living in the abandoned village belonged to Blazing Sun.
After driving for an hour and a half, Ma Han stopped the vehicle one kilometer from the village. If they drove any closer, Blazing Sun’s people might become suspicious.
“Stay alert. These men are very likely armed. We must strike fast and take them down before they can react. Anyone who resists is to be killed on the spot.”
After everyone got out, Ma Han repeated his instructions. There were four of them this time: Ma Han, Chu Feng, Wang Chen, and Xiao Hei.
Using the cover of night, they advanced rapidly. When they were more than four hundred meters from the village, they raised their binoculars and carefully surveyed the area. Only after confirming that Blazing Sun had posted no sentries did they continue forward.
Once they reached the entrance to the village, Chu Feng and the others took out their individual night-vision devices. Xiao Hei and Wang Chen also carried thermal imagers.
A scan with the thermal imagers quickly revealed which house Blazing Sun’s assassins were occupying. Chu Feng and the others quietly climbed over the wall and entered the courtyard.
Chu Feng examined the windows of the house. Many of the panes were already shattered, suggesting that the place had been unoccupied for a long time.
Ma Han signaled to Chu Feng. Chu Feng pulled a flashbang from behind his waist, while Ma Han took out a stun grenade.
Three seconds later, Chu Feng and Ma Han threw the two devices into the room at the same time.
Bang!
A sharp crack came from inside, followed by a blinding burst of light that illuminated the entire room.
When the effects of the grenades subsided, Chu Feng and the others smashed through the window and rushed inside. They found the assassins covering their eyes.
It seemed that they had opened their eyes just as the devices detonated and had been struck directly by the intense flash.
Ma Han and Chu Feng quickly knocked all of them unconscious. Xiao Hei was sent to bring the vehicle around, while Ma Han and the others stayed behind to guard the prisoners.
“Captain, I’m picking something up on the infrared scan. There are several people living in the house behind this one as well.”
Wang Chen, who was scanning the area, had suddenly detected people in the house behind them—and there was more than one.
“Keep watch here and be careful. Chu Feng and I will check the rear.”
Ma Han and Chu Feng quietly climbed over the courtyard wall and made their way to the back.
Chu Feng carried Wang Chen’s thermal imager. After scanning the building, he found three people lying in the room on the left.
Chu Feng and Ma Han each threw another pair of grenades inside. When the effects had faded, they charged into the room, only to find the three people still lying there asleep. They had not moved at all.
It was as though they had not heard the explosions.
Chu Feng switched on the flashlight he carried with him and discovered that something was wrong with the three men. Each looked alive, yet none of them had been affected by the grenades.
“This is bad. We’re leaving!”
Chu Feng seemed to have realized something. He hurriedly dragged Ma Han outside, abandoning the thermal imager in the room.
“These people look just like the slave we captured last time. I once heard Demon Dragon say that their commander had bought at least four of them.”
A sudden flash of insight had brought to mind the slave Demon Dragon had purchased, as well as the information Demon Dragon had revealed.
“What do we do now? We don’t even know whether they’re carrying explosives.”
Ma Han drew a sharp breath after hearing Chu Feng’s words.
“Call the team leader and have him send people over. Tell him to bring an information jammer as well.”
Chu Feng thought for a moment. He remembered Demon Dragon saying that each of these slaves had a chip in their brain that could be used to control them.
If an information jammer interfered with the transmission of their signals, it might be possible to disrupt or even control the slaves.
After receiving Ma Han’s call, Long Feihu immediately dispatched a squad from the Dragon Scale Base.
