Chapter 81: Played for a Fool

Chu Feng directly borrowed a business vehicle from the hotel manager. After escorting the Black Dragon onto the car, he also brought Lao Jin’s wife and child aboard, then drove straight to the police station.

Before arriving, Chu Feng made a call to * and asked him to prepare an interrogation room. * was a bit surprised to receive Chu Feng’s call, but remembering that Chu Feng had joined Dragon Scale, he immediately had his men ready an interrogation room.

It wasn’t long before Chu Feng arrived at the station with the business vehicle. * was already waiting outside. As soon as the car stopped, several officers rushed forward and took the Black Dragon inside.

“What’s going on? You’re executing a mission here, and you didn’t even give me a heads-up. Are you looking down on me or what?” * and Chu Feng were familiar with each other, so their words were casual.

“Absolutely not. The reason I didn’t tell you beforehand is because this matter is classified. Everyone behind me is from the Special Operations Squad.” Chu Feng didn’t explain too much to *; too much detail would violate regulations.

“Find a female officer in your precinct and let her talk with them. The mother and son were kidnapped.” Chu Feng always thought things through thoroughly, especially since he feared Lao Jin’s wife had suffered severe trauma, so he wanted a female officer to handle it.

“Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. My daughter has been mentioning you lately—said she went to the hospital but couldn’t find you.” *’s words were quite obvious; he clearly hoped Chu Feng would become his son-in-law. Knowing his daughter’s personality, she’d never openly say she missed Chu Feng.

“I’ll get to work first. We’ll talk after I’m done.” Chu Feng didn’t want to dwell on that topic; Li Yuewu’s temper was far too fiery.

Chu Feng entered the interrogation room. The Black Dragon was given special treatment by the police; not only was he handcuffed, but his hands were also bound behind his back.

“Black Dragon, I didn’t expect you to be so bold. You kidnap people and don’t leave the country, staying here instead. Are you ignoring us, or did you never intend to escape?” Chu Feng gazed at the man before him, feeling an odd sense that this person might not actually be the Black Dragon.

“I’m not the Black Dragon. You caught the wrong person. The Black Dragon fled long ago. You think your actions are secret, but we knew everything you were doing.” The man’s words startled everyone in the room. Though Chu Feng had suspected the person wasn’t the Black Dragon, hearing it aloud still shocked him.

“Then who are you? If you’re aware of our operation, why did you wait with the mother and child at the hotel for us?” Ma Han hadn’t expected that, after leading the Special Operations Squad on a mission, he’d end up being played.

“I’m Lord Black Dragon’s assistant. You can call me Jess. The reason I left the mother and child for you is that they’re no longer of any use. If we didn’t lure you here, do you think we’d have a chance to target that old man?” Jess’s words made cold sweat drip down Chu Feng and his team’s backs. If Black Dragon’s real plan was to draw them away and then strike at Old Chen, the consequences would be unimaginable.

“Don’t try to fool me. Old Chen is guarded by a special forces unit. Unless you send a large squad, you won’t have a chance!” Though Chu Feng felt uneasy, he still acted forceful; now was not the time to panic, or they’d lose the initiative.

“Whether we succeed or not, I don’t know. My job was to lure you here. Now that my task is done, do whatever you want with me.” Jess closed his eyes, no longer looking at Chu Feng and the others.

Chu Feng and Ma Han left the interrogation room, sweat covering their faces. If things were as Jess said and something happened to Old Chen, the responsibility would fall on them.

“Ma Han, I’ll arrange a private jet for you. You must return to the capital immediately and ensure Old Chen’s safety. It’s still daytime; the Sunfire assassins might not dare to act openly.” With the situation so dire, Chu Feng could only do his utmost. The only good news was that, being daytime, the assassins wouldn’t likely move so brazenly.

Chu Feng took out his phone and called a wealthy entrepreneur—a veteran businessman whose life Chu Feng had once saved at an event, leading them to exchange numbers, though they had never contacted each other since.

Two minutes later, Chu Feng ended the call and informed Ma Han that a jet was waiting at the airport. * immediately called the traffic department and arranged for a police car to be given right of way. In less than ten minutes, *’s driver safely delivered Ma Han and his team to the airport.

“Director Li, how are the mother and child? Did they suffer any internal harm?” After finishing his tasks, Chu Feng remembered he hadn’t checked on Lao Jin’s wife and child.

“The child seems fine. I plan to take him to the hospital for a check-up, but there shouldn’t be any issue. The mother, though, appears mentally affected. No matter how our female officers question her, she doesn’t utter a word; she just stares ahead, her eyes vacant.” * sounded heavy-hearted. He didn’t know the full story, but seeing a woman tormented like this unsettled him deeply as a police chief.

“I’ll go take a look. Have someone keep an eye on the man in the interrogation room. He’s a professional killer; don’t let him commit suicide!” With that, Chu Feng went straight to a police office where Lao Jin’s wife and child were, accompanied by two female officers chatting with her.

No matter what the officers said, Lao Jin’s wife remained silent, her gaze fixed forward, her expression wooden, as if her spirit had suffered a blow.

“You two step outside for now. I’ll check her condition—see if there’s a psychological issue. No one else should come in for the moment.” The two officers knew Chu Feng and left as soon as he entered.

“Sister-in-law, my name is Chu Feng. Brother Jin asked me to come rescue you.”
