Chapter 58: Carrying Out the Mission
Chu Feng dared not let Han Xuefang pinch him again, so he hurried up to wash and freshen himself. After he finished, Old Jin and Old Wang came in carrying breakfast.
“Xiao Han, come have some breakfast with us. I bought plenty,” Old Jin called out to Han Xuefang, inviting her to join them.
“Thank you, I’ve already eaten. You go ahead, I have work to do,” Han Xuefang replied politely, then walked out.
“Young man, this girl is excellent. Treat her well. If I ever find out you’ve bullied her, you’ll see how I deal with you,” Old Chen said, treating Chu Feng as if he were his own son, imparting advice.
Chu Feng could only nod in agreement, unable to retort, though he felt a bit helpless.
After breakfast, Chu Feng used the excuse of giving a massage to transfer more lifespan from his watch into Old Chen’s body. The dial spun ten times before coming to a stop.
Once the massage was done, Chu Feng checked the dial—only 320 units of lifespan remained. To fully restore Old Chen’s health, he would need at least 500 more.
Around ten in the morning, members of the Special Operations Unit arrived. Only Ma Han and Wang Chen came upstairs; the others waited below. This time, they wore plain clothes instead of military uniforms.
“This is the information you wanted. The captain said we must be cautious,” Ma Han handed Chu Feng a document marked ‘Top Secret,’ then he and Wang Chen left.
Long Feihu had already told them beforehand that this file was for Chu Feng’s eyes only, and that for this mission, everyone was to follow Chu Feng’s instructions.
Chu Feng tore open the envelope and found a single A4 sheet inside. He read its contents carefully, confirmed everything, then used a lighter to burn the paper. The last line on the sheet had instructed him to burn it after reading, never to tear it up or flush it down the toilet.
Chu Feng went to Old Chen’s hospital room and told him he had important things to do today, urging him to be extra careful and stay in the hospital. Before leaving, he also gave specific instructions to Old Wang and Old Jin, telling them to stay vigilant and not let anyone take advantage.
Chu Feng didn’t tell Han Xuefang about his outing today. Anything related to the mission was off-limits to her, as too much was at stake.
At the hospital parking lot, Ma Han and the Special Operations members were already waiting. There were five of them, and with Chu Feng, six in total.
Too many people would arouse suspicion. Those ruthless criminals were highly alert and had strong counter-surveillance abilities.
“We’re heading to an abandoned factory on Sanhe Road in the capital. We need to get there as quickly as possible, ideally before noon,” Chu Feng said, referring to the location listed in the file.
The car started and sped toward the abandoned factory. Chu Feng sat silently, eyes closed, conserving his energy.
After about forty minutes, the car stopped steadily at the intersection of Sanhe Road. Driving any closer would risk detection, so they would proceed on foot.
“Chu Feng, the captain had these custom weapons made for you. Check if they suit your needs—if not, we’ll have them remade,” Ma Han said as he took a bag from the trunk.
Chu Feng opened it and found several hundred miniature surgical blades. Their edges were exceptionally sharp—sharper than ordinary surgical knives. The blades were smaller than usual, making them easier for Chu Feng to use discreetly, and each had a small groove on the back to channel blood.
He took one out and spun it deftly in his hand; with a quick twist, the blade vanished from sight.
Ma Han and the other team members watched in astonishment. Despite their rigorous training with the national military, none of them could discern how Chu Feng hid the weapon.
“Amazing! You must teach us when you have time. This skill would be invaluable for our missions,” Ma Han said, echoing the group’s sentiments. In modern special operations, concealed weapons could be crucial in neutralizing hidden sentries.
“No problem. If you want to learn, I’ll teach you. Just be ready for some tough training,” Chu Feng agreed, willing to share his unique skill for the benefit of the country.
After a brief chat, each member slung a large canvas bag over their shoulder, and they began walking toward the abandoned factory.
To ordinary passersby, these robust men dressed in shabby clothes and carrying canvas bags would seem like migrant workers entering the city. No one would associate them with a special forces unit.
As the six of them moved, they scanned their surroundings. The area was slated for development and was indeed recruiting laborers from rural areas.
They crossed to the factory’s opposite side, where a future forest park was under construction, and found a concealed spot. The observer then scoped out the factory for hidden sentries.
“There are twelve people inside the factory. Two are on guard outside, separated by more than seven meters. The remaining ten are on the third floor.”
“The factory walls are cement, so ordinary weapons won’t penetrate. If we want to capture them all, we have to storm in. The first priority is to eliminate the two lookouts,” the observer reported.
Ma Han and the team discussed the situation and devised an action plan: Wang Chen and Xiao Hei would neutralize the sentries posted at either end of the factory. Once they were dealt with, Chu Feng and Ma Han would lead an assault team to apprehend the rest as quickly as possible.
Wang Chen and Xiao Hei, carrying their bags, swaggered toward the factory, blending in as migrant workers. Even if the sentries noticed them, they wouldn’t be suspicious.
When they reached the factory, Wang Chen and Xiao Hei suddenly dropped their bags and stealthily approached the two guards.
The sentries had seen them earlier, but dismissed them as laborers and paid no further attention.
Ma Han and another team member watched through binoculars, waiting for any sign of weakness. At the first slip, Ma Han would not hesitate to give the order.
