Chapter Ninety-Five
Xiao Zhi walked in and sat down across from Zhou Yu.
“Old Xiao,” Zhou Yu said, “I know you’re all very unhappy. I changed the base’s name, and I also weakened your power.”
“But you need to understand this: in the world we’re living in now, with only the soldiers under your command, are you really sure you can survive a massive tide of zombies?”
“Besides, since you’re soldiers, you ought to be out saving people, not hiding inside the base.”
“Also, I heard on the radio that Old Yan’s base has already become a survivor stronghold. They’re all out there rescuing people.”
“Aren’t you always saying you’re better than Old Yan? So what now? Planning to stay in the base and wait for him to come save you?”
Zhou Yu did not wait for Xiao Zhi to speak. He fired off a whole string of words of his own.
Xiao Zhi asked, “Then what exactly do you mean?”
Zhou Yu smiled. “Simple. Expand the base, become self-sufficient, take in more people, and only keep the useful ones—talent in any field. And recruit soldiers.”
Xiao Zhi sighed. “That sounds easy enough, but it’s far too hard to actually do.”
Zhou Yu said, “It’s not that hard. The one standing with me who didn’t get assigned anyone is Leng Yuhang, the so-called Car God in your eyes. From now on, he’ll be in charge of leading teams out to gather supplies and carry out rescues.”
“In the beginning, I’ll go out with them myself, and I’m heading out again in a bit anyway—to find a seed shop and mark the routes on the map.”
Xiao Zhi looked at Zhou Yu with a strange expression.
Zhou Yu said, “Don’t look at me like that. I’ve got a wife.”
“Get lost,” Xiao Zhi cursed. “I’m wondering how your brain is wired. At a time like this, you can still analyze the situation so calmly and come up with the right response.”
Zhou Yu laughed. “Ha, I just have a good memory.”
Xiao Zhi asked, “What does memory have to do with it?”
Zhou Yu only smiled and said nothing.
He couldn’t exactly tell him that it was because he had read too many novels online and had remembered the general plots. Besides, lately he had taken a liking to disaster stories like this.
After speaking a few more words with Xiao Zhi, Zhou Yu went outside with him.
By then, the others no longer had teams. Everyone was gathered together.
In the center of the circle, two men were sparring: Wang Hao and Liu Haishan.
After Zhou Yu and Xiao Zhi walked over, they asked the soldiers nearby what was going on, and only then did they learn the reason.
It turned out that after Liu Haishan had lost to Wang Hao in marksmanship, he had accepted the result, but he refused to be convinced by Wang Hao’s hand-to-hand combat.
That was why this scene had come about.
Among the original Asura Squad, Wang Hao was the weakest in close-quarters fighting.
What’s more, he himself relied heavily on marksmanship, so he had put far less effort into martial skills.
Even so, as a sniper, Wang Hao possessed astonishing observation and reaction speed.
Though not quite as sharp as Nian Yu’s ability to predict, it was close enough.
After all, having survived countless assassinations and many battles, he had a sense for danger that ordinary people simply did not possess.
In the middle of the field, although Wang Hao could not defeat Liu Haishan in hand-to-hand combat, Liu Haishan also found it rather impossible to beat Wang Hao.
Zhou Yu had only watched for a short while when Leng Yuhang came running over.
He said to Zhou Yu, “I want this big dumb brute. His hand-to-hand skills aren’t bad, and neither is his marksmanship. He’s pretty good.”
Zhou Yu said, “Fine. Go tell him yourself.”
Seeing that Zhou Yu had agreed, Leng Yuhang hurried to the center of the field and interrupted the match.
He said, “Liu Haishan, right? You don’t need to keep fighting him. If you go on, it’ll still end in a draw. Fight me instead. I want you to come with me.”
Wang Hao immediately bristled. “Why should I go with you? He ought to be going with me.”
