Chapter Seventy-Six
Zhou Yu continued, “Actually, the swordsmanship of the country that uses sanitary pads as its flag is derived from our nation’s traditional Tang blade techniques.”
“The Tang blade’s strengths lie in its versatility—it can thrust, slash, cleave, sweep, and flick. It can deliver powerful, heavy strikes, but it can also be light and nimble.”
As Zhou Yu spoke, he demonstrated the moves.
He explained, “Thrusting depends on explosive force, slashing relies on back muscle strength, cleaving uses waist power, sweeping depends on the torque of the waist, and flicking is all about wrist strength.”
“The Tang blade is mainly about agility—it can advance for offense or retreat for defense. Defense is primarily about evasion, deflecting or flicking away the opponent’s weapon, then dodging and counterattacking.”
“You graduated from a proper police academy, so I don’t need to teach you those methodical, systematic drills.”
“What’s important is how to train your wrist strength—wrist strength is the power in your wrist. So, practice swirling the blade whenever you can; it helps both your wrist strength and flexibility. The rest, you’ll have to learn through real combat.”
“Take your time practicing. I’ll go check on the others.”
With that, Zhou Yu turned to leave, but suddenly looked back and added, “Oh, by the way, there’s another key point to flicking—using borrowed force.”
This time, Zhou Yu really left and didn’t ask whether Xiao Jie had understood.
Returning near the RV, Zhou Yu saw Wang Kui endlessly playing with his dagger, while Pan Yuxin watched from the side.
What surprised Zhou Yu was that Liu Hu, that rascal, was actually teaching Zhao Yan unarmed combat.
But what astonished him even more was Wang Hao, who was explaining the mechanics of guns to two older men.
Just then, the short-statured Leng Yuhang approached and said to Zhou Yu, “There are still survivors inside. Someone just signaled to us with a flashlight, but they’re a bit far away. What should we do?”
Zhou Yu replied, “Find a way to tell them we’ll deal with it later.”
He then instructed everyone to stop what they were doing and gather together.
“We’ve confirmed there are survivors inside, but we don’t know how many or what their fighting capability is. What are your thoughts?”
Liu Hu said, “Doesn’t matter. If you say kill, we kill; if you say keep, we keep; if you say drive them out, we drive them out.”
Zhou Yu sighed, “Just stay quiet, you don’t need to speak.”
Nian Yu considered it and said, “We definitely have to rescue them, but it depends on how. And then how we treat them afterwards.”
Zhou Yu said, “That’s exactly what’s troubling me. If we want to build something big, we need people—all kinds of talents. We’d need our own forces. But this is a military sub-district. Almost everyone inside is a soldier; it’s difficult.”
Xiao Jie said, “It’s not difficult, actually. What is a soldier? The nation’s sharpest blade, whose faith is in the country. You can make them believe in you.”
Nian Yu asked, “How would you do that?”
Xiao Jie replied, “It’s simple. The military reveres force. First, subdue and conquer with force. Second, don’t destroy their last bit of faith. Third, don’t harm the survivors—save as many as you can.”
Zhou Yu said, “In that case, at first we need to disarm them. Don’t imprison them; let them move freely, but don’t let them approach dangerous places like the armory.”
Wang Hao added, “That’s doable, but there’s one more thing—first, we need to intimidate them, so they’ll be wary of us.”
Zhou Yu said, “Alright, it’s settled. Get back to work, I’ll go make an announcement.”
