Chapter 119
After crossing the initial one-sided bridge, everyone began to demonstrate their unique techniques—leaping, vaulting, climbing.
By the time they reached the third turnaround, Leng Yuhang had already caught up with the group.
Leng Yuhang’s running style was unlike anyone else's, agile and nimble like a monkey.
At the fourth turnaround, Leng Yuhang had closed the gap and caught up to Zhou Yu, who was leading.
As they approached the fifth turnaround, Zhou Yu and Leng Yuhang suddenly erupted in a burst of speed—accelerating faster and faster.
The obstacles ahead seemed as flat as the ground to them. Approaching the turnaround point, both turned sharply, hands touching the ground, bodies leaning forward, one foot behind and one foot in front, like leopards about to pounce on their prey.
Simultaneously, Zhou Yu and Leng Yuhang shouted loudly, thrusting their hands down and then slapping the ground with force, propelling themselves forward.
In the final moments, Leng Yuhang managed to pull ahead, finishing first by a margin of two body lengths.
Zhou Yu followed closely behind, then came Wang Hao, and right after him, Liu Long and Pan Yuxin arrived almost simultaneously, followed by Xiao Zhi, with Liu Hu bringing up the rear.
Leng Yuhang said lightly, “Xiao Yu, I didn’t expect it, but you’re still a little slower than before.”
Zhou Yu shrugged casually, “I’ve been living a little too comfortably these past two years. But speaking of which, why has Xiao Long’s speed slowed down too?”
Leng Yuhang smirked, “What else could it be? Slacking off on training.”
Zhou Yu chuckled, “Sigh, Xiao Hu just can’t pick up the pace.”
Liu Hu chuckled sheepishly, “Blame me, I’m too heavy, no way around it.”
While Zhou Yu and Liu Long chatted, the onlookers stood in stunned silence, mouths agape. Is this really the group they had as instructors?
Just considering their speed alone was enough to outclass them, not to mention their formidable combat skills.
Xiao Zhi, panting slightly, said, “You guys are just too freakish. Do you have to be this over the top?”
Hearing Xiao Zhi’s words, which sounded almost like a tongue twister, Zhou Yu and the others burst into laughter.
After a couple of minutes, Xiao Zhi turned to Liu Haishan and said, “Haishan, come on. Let’s see just how much difference there is between you after their training and me.”
Zhou Yu called out, “Wait, old man, you lost. What about the stakes?”
Xiao Zhi teased, “You never said anything about stakes, and you’re not even first place. Can’t blame me. Haha.”
He laughed heartily after speaking.
Zhou Yu heard Xiao Zhi’s playful excuses and felt a wave of exasperation.
This old man calls himself a soldier hooligan? I think he’s the biggest rogue soldier of all.
Zhou Yu thought indignantly.
After that, Xiao Zhi and Liu Haishan returned to the starting line.
Leng Yuhang said, “It’s pretty cold tonight. To save time, let’s just do two turnarounds.”
Then he called out, “Ready—go!”
As soon as the word “start” was spoken, Xiao Zhi and Liu Haishan both surged forward.
Although Liu Haishan had been coached by Leng Yuhang, it was still less than two hours of training in total.
There remained some gap between him and Xiao Zhi, but in terms of speed, he had already caught up closely with Liu Hu.
In the end, Liu Haishan still lost the first round.
After the first round concluded, Xiao Zhi led the group toward the bomb disposal training area at the far end of the field.
Liu Long ordered ten soldiers to pair up in fives to delay the two attackers as much as possible.
Before entering, Liu Long said to Liu Haishan and Xiao Zhi, “I might not be at that position. When I call ‘go,’ you come in to rescue me.”
Then he added to Liu Long, “Don’t forget what I told you.”
He then selected five soldiers and entered, saying as he went, “Decide among yourselves who goes first.”
