Chapter One Hundred and Six
The three women looked at the various boxes placed before them—some large, some small. Though somewhat speechless, they still opened them.
Upon opening the boxes, the three women were completely stunned.
Each had a dress and matching accessories laid out before them.
Nian Yu opened the largest box and was struck silent upon seeing the pink princess dress inside. Her eyes reddened.
Xiao Jie opened the smallest box, which contained a Cartier ring. She too was stunned, her eyes welling with tears.
Pan Yuxin opened a flat, square box containing a Cartier necklace. She was utterly dumbfounded, completely overwhelmed.
Nian Yu was the first to recover. Without a word, she stood and threw herself into Zhou Yu’s arms, softly sobbing.
“Husband, thank you. I never imagined you’d remember I like pink.”
Zhou Yu gently stroked her hair and smiled. “Go ahead, open them all and see if you like them.”
He then turned to Xiao Jie and Pan Yuxin. “Ladies, don’t just stand there stunned. Take a look and see if you like them. It’s been years since I’ve been in touch with you, so I wasn’t sure if your tastes had changed. But these are all the latest styles.”
Nian Yu quickly returned to the boxes and opened them all.
Hearing Zhou Yu’s words, Xiao Jie and Pan Yuxin also snapped out of their daze and hurriedly opened their boxes to examine the contents.
After looking through everything, tears streamed down all three women’s faces.
Zhou Yu had been leaning against the sofa, watching them with a smiling gaze.
Suddenly seeing them cry, he felt a bit helpless and quickly asked, “What’s wrong? If you don’t like them, I can go get something else right now. Why are you crying?”
Hearing Zhou Yu’s nervous words, the three women burst into laughter.
Zhou Yu was even more perplexed. They had just been crying a moment ago, and now they were laughing at his words—and he hadn’t said anything unusual. What was going on?
Xiao Jie, seeing Zhou Yu’s puzzled expression, chuckled and said, “It’s not that we don’t like it, we’re just touched.”
Zhou Yu asked at an awkward moment, “Touched by what?”
Nian Yu replied, “We didn’t expect you to remember what we liked so well. And in this situation, you still managed to get all these things. That’s why we’re moved.”
This time Zhou Yu understood and smiled. “Well, life needs a little sense of ceremony.”
Nian Yu teased, “Sense of ceremony? Then why was your previous place such a mess?”
Zhou Yu was caught off guard by her question, then said, “Isn’t it because someone didn’t know how to take care of me and wouldn’t tidy up?”
Hearing Zhou Yu turn her words back on her, Nian Yu huffed in frustration. “You scoundrel! How come you mess things up and expect me to clean?”
Zhou Yu grinned. “Aren’t you my wife?”
Nian Yu snorted, “Not at all, humph.”
Zhou Yu laughed. “Then give me back my stuff.”
As he spoke, he stood and approached Nian Yu.
She clutched all the items to her chest. “Hey, gifts can’t be taken back, you know.”
Zhou Yu stopped, teasing, “But someone just told me she’s not my wife.”
Nian Yu froze for a moment. “I don’t care. I am now, and these are mine.”
Zhou Yu smiled warmly. “Alright, no more fussing. Go try on the clothes. Later, I’ll have Xiao Long and the others come over to witness it.”
Xiao Jie asked, “Just those few?”
Zhou Yu replied, “No, everyone’s coming. But only those few and some of the original officers will be allowed inside. The others can watch from outside.”
