Chapter Sixty-Two
When Zhou Yu entered the room, he found everyone waiting for him.
Zhou Yu was a little puzzled. Why is everyone looking at me like that? Did I do something wrong?
He voiced his confusion, “Hey, what’s going on? Why are you all looking at me?”
Liu Hu, the straightforward one, blurted out, “Xiao Yu, you just left Xin Xin and your two wives outside. Aren’t you afraid Xin Xin might get physical?”
Zhou Yu replied, “She won’t. I already told her. She won’t do anything.”
At this point, Liu Long asked, “Come on, Xiao Yu, we haven’t heard from you in ages and now you show up out of the blue, and the world isn’t what it used to be. You must be up to something again, right?”
Zhou Yu gave an awkward laugh. “Xiao Long, don’t say that. Can’t I just miss you all?”
Liu Long retorted, “Give me a break. When you left so decisively back then, what were you thinking?”
Zhou Yu’s eyes grew a little sorrowful, and he said quietly, “If only I had investigated more carefully back then, maybe Xin Xin wouldn’t have gotten hurt.”
Liu Long sighed. “But none of us ever blamed you. And Xin Xin never blamed you either.”
Zhou Yu said, “It’s precisely because none of you blamed me that I feel even more guilty. As the team’s assassin, I led everyone into an ambush without even knowing our enemy’s intel. That was a failure.”
Liu Long said, “It wasn’t just your responsibility. We were all at fault. Back then, we were too famous for our own good, and during that battle, we were far too complacent.”
“Alright, let’s not talk about it anymore. Has Xin Xin’s wound healed? Did it leave a scar?” Zhou Yu asked.
Yang Ting spoke up then, “There’s definitely a scar on her back, but it’s covered now.”
Liu Long wanted to stop her, but it was already too late.
Zhou Yu’s gaze turned cold as he looked at Liu Long. “Xiao Long, what does your wife mean by ‘covered’? What did she use to cover it?”
Seeing Zhou Yu’s expression and hearing his tone, Liu Long knew trouble was brewing.
Although Zhou Yu had tattoos himself, he didn’t like women having them. He had even shouted at Xin Xin once when she wanted one.
Liu Long sighed, “After Xin Xin’s back healed, she saw the scar—it looked like a centipede—so she…”
“So what? She got a tattoo, didn’t she?” Zhou Yu said angrily.
He finished speaking, and in a flash, lunged in front of Liu Long. Grabbing him by the throat with one hand, he lifted him right off the ground.
“You promised me, didn’t you?” Zhou Yu shouted. “You said you wouldn’t let her get hurt again! This is how you keep your word?”
Liu Hu and the others, seeing Zhou Yu like this, quickly cried out, “Zhou Yu, let him go! Someone’s going to get hurt for real!”
The commotion inside reached the ears of the three outside, and they rushed in.
Seeing Zhou Yu holding Liu Long up with one hand, the three were stunned.
Pan Yuxin took two steps back and said softly, “Big Brother Yu…”
Hearing her voice, Zhou Yu glanced back, then said to Liu Long, “We’ll settle this later.”
Turning to Pan Yuxin, he barked, “Pan Yuxin, get over here right now!”
Hearing her full name called, Pan Yuxin realized Zhou Yu was truly angry and quickly hid behind Nian Yu and Xiao Jie, peeking out timidly. “I won’t! Big Brother Yu, I’ll come over when you’re not angry anymore.”
Nian Yu frowned, “Zhou Yu, what’s going on? Why are you yelling? Look at how you’ve scared her.”
Zhou Yu’s gaze toward Nian Yu grew cold. “Nian Yu, if you don’t want to get involved, just stay out of this. I’ll explain everything to you later.”
