Chapter Ninety-Seven: No Taboos

Under the threat of Qing Xue's Flame Sword, Yun Yang flitted awkwardly to the side and put on a fawning smile.

"Snow Sis, easy now. I was wrong."

This was the first time Yun Yang had ever called Qing Xue "sister." Before, he had always addressed her by name. Qing Xue had never thought much of it, but after hearing that single word, she suddenly felt that being called an older sister was rather nice. So she smiled sweetly and asked,

"Come on, tell your sister what you did wrong."

"I, I shouldn't have played that prank," Yun Yang said, lowering his head.

"And what should you do?" Qing Xue kept smiling and went on.

"I was wrong, I'm sorry, I apologize." Yun Yang hurriedly bent at the waist and bowed deeply as he spoke loudly.

Borrowing a line from Earth’s internet, Qing Xue’s smile only grew more playful. She grabbed Yun Yang by the arm and teased, "If an apology were useful, what would we need the police for?"

Yun Yang immediately understood. So this wasn't about wanting an apology at all; she was clearly out to have some fun at his expense.

"I was wrong, I apologized, but if you don't forgive me, then that's your fault."

Thinking this, Yun Yang’s expression also brightened with a smile as he jeered back.

Seeing Qing Xue go a little blank, Yun Yang tapped her on the forehead, then instantly activated teleportation and vanished back to the courtyard house in North Star City before she could react.

Feeling the pain on her forehead and seeing Yun Yang disappear, Qing Xue realized she had been played again. She angrily waved the Flame Sword in her hand a few times, then slowly made her way back to Skyblade Seven.

During the following period, Yun Yang, feeling guilty as if he had stolen something, kept avoiding Qing Xue from time to time. He even skipped the negotiations about Earth joining the righteous order, retreating into a homebody's life of games once more.

He even pulled Ge Xiaolun and Zhao Xin over to play with him.

Yet this calm and fulfilling life was shattered by one person's arrival. That person was Zhixin.

She had come together with Zhao Xin. Yun Yang had first assumed she was there to play games as well, and had been about to recommend one to her when Zhixin spoke first.

"Yun Yang, can you take me back to Angel City? It would take too long if I went on my own."

Hearing that Zhixin had business and was not here to play, Yun Yang set aside the game and thought for a moment before saying, "Sure, no problem on my side. Just you?"

As he spoke, he glanced sideways at Zhao Xin beside her.

Then he heard the two of them answer at once.

"No," Zhao Xin said.

"Yes," Zhixin said.

They exchanged a look, then spoke together again.

"Yes," Zhao Xin said.

"No," Zhixin said.

This left Yun Yang thoroughly baffled. "So which is it, yes or no?"

Just as Zhixin was about to speak, Zhao Xin held her back and said, "I'm not going. I still want to hang out with this brother of mine."

Under Zhixin's bewildered stare, Yun Yang gave Zhao Xin a look that said, I get it, and asked, "All right then. When do we leave?"

Zhixin did not probe into the strange understanding between the two of them. Hearing Yun Yang's question, she answered directly, "If possible, let's go now. I have some important intelligence to report to my teacher."

On Skyblade Seven, Yun Yang cast furtive glances all around, afraid Qing Xue might be nearby. After all, that last grievance had not yet been settled. Even when they played games, she had gripped Yun Yang tightly no matter which lane he chose. Her resentment toward him was obvious beyond measure.

After a few minutes of anxious progress, Yun Yang spotted Qing Xue among a squad of patrolling angels. Qing Xue sharply sensed that someone was watching her and turned to look, but there was indeed no one there. She shook her head, thinking she had been mistaken. Since she was still on patrol, she did not investigate further.

Meanwhile, Yun Yang, crouched with Zhixin behind a flowerbed, waited a while. Seeing that Qing Xue had not come over, he finally let out a long breath, spread his wings at once, took Zhixin by the arm, and flew toward the giant wormhole gate.

Once again standing on the vast circular platform of the Heavenly Gate, Yun Yang stared at the huge spiked sphere in the distance and wanted to complain, to say something.

But as if he had remembered something, he suddenly clapped a hand over his mouth and looked behind him in a fit of nerves, as though some ferocious beast might appear there.

Seeing Yun Yang suddenly tense up, Zhixin was left puzzled and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

"Nothing, nothing," Yun Yang said. Of course he would not say why; he merely brushed it off.

Sensing his evasiveness, Zhixin understood that he did not want to talk about it. So, not wanting to put him on the spot, she nodded and changed the subject. "Let's hurry and go. There isn't much to see here anyway."

While the two of them were heading toward the Skybase Queen's castle, the person Zhixin had come to find was in an unknown space, busily working with Kesha on a set of dark-silver armor. It looked like a suit of men's battle armor.

When the final line of code was completed, our Skybase Queen Hexi looked up and said to Kesha beside her, "Is this really supposed to be repayment? You've gone so far as to use secondary-biology authority to make a dark-silver alloy suit with an engine installed. Even the sisters wear nothing this good."

Kesha said nothing. She simply smiled as she looked at the silver armor before her.

Seeing Kesha's reaction, Hexi felt an inexplicable sense of danger rise within her heart. She had a vague feeling that she might be about to lose something important.

On Demon One, in the queen's bedroom, Rose and Morgana sat opposite each other, slowly swirling the red wine in their glasses.

"I read your doctrine," Rose said softly, taking a sip of the crimson liquid in her cup. "It doesn't really suit Earth, but I do believe in some of its principles."

"Really? Then I'm deeply honored," Morgana said, her eyes lighting up with delight.

"If demons came to dominate Earth, would Earth become the kind of place your doctrine describes?" Rose narrowed her eyes and asked on.

"What would be wrong with that? That is evolution," Morgana said after a pause, as though it were only natural.

After hearing her answer, Rose fell silent for a moment and then fixed Morgana in the eyes. "Can I control you?"

"Hm? You want to control a demon? In what capacity?" Morgana looked at her in surprise, as though amazed by the question, and asked in return.

"What kind of identity would you want me to have?" Rose did not look away.

Morgana thought for a moment. "I like you, but you already have someone you like. I..."

She had not finished before Rose cut her off. "Demons have no taboos. That's your own doctrine, isn't it?"

At that, Morgana's eyes brightened. Right. She was a demon, after all—a demon queen with no taboos. What had she been thinking before? Had concern thrown her into confusion?

A slow smile curved her lips. She raised one finger and, under Rose's puzzled gaze, lifted her chin.

"Really want to control me?"

Rose said nothing. The determination flashing in her eyes told Morgana everything she needed to know.

Morgana was a little surprised by Rose's sudden change, but she also knew very well that it was not because of any doctrine of hers. Most likely, it was for the sake of her country, in order to win over this demon queen and, indirectly, secure rights for the human race in a future Earth ruled by demons.

Still, that was good. At least, to Morgana, it was good. With a little subtle maneuvering, she would be able to bind the love of her life firmly to her side.

"I understand. I'll give you a chance."

With that, Morgana shed the clothes on her body and changed into a purple lace nightdress. Then she drained the wine in her glass, licked her lips, lay down on the large bed, and crooked a finger at Rose.

Looking at this demon queen, Rose suddenly felt a little regretful. Did this mean she had to give herself to her? Would this count as putting a green hat on Yun Yang?

Lying on the bed, Liang Bing watched the rapid changes in Rose's expression with great interest and found it thoroughly amusing. Perhaps she could tease her a little more.

After a fierce struggle within herself, Rose finally convinced herself with the excuse that Liang Bing was a woman, so this did not count as cheating on Yun Yang.

With stiff steps, she walked to the bedside and sat down.

"What do you want to do?"

Seeing how proper and composed Rose was being, Liang Bing found it rather entertaining. She propped herself up and leaned over Rose's back.

With both hands on Rose's shoulders, she pulled hard.

Rose had no strength to resist Liang Bing's overwhelming force and was pressed straight down onto the bed.

Holding Rose down, Liang Bing lifted one finger and tapped the black armor on her chest. The impact rang out with a sharp metallic clink as she said gently, "Rose, are you really going to wear all that pitch-black armor and sleep with the woman you're trying to control?"

Hearing that, Rose kept hypnotizing herself inwardly.

She's a woman. She's a woman. It doesn't count. It doesn't count. She is...

Watching Rose’s struggling expression gradually settle, Liang Bing saw the black armor flash and vanish, replaced by a military-green undershirt.

Feeling the soft body beneath her, Liang Bing buried her face in the crook of Rose's neck and inhaled deeply.

"What should a taboo-free me do when the love of my life is lying right in front of me with no defenses at all?"

"I-I don't like women," Rose stammered, truly beginning to panic at Liang Bing's words.

"What does that have to do with me? As long as I like it, that's enough," Liang Bing said, the corner of her mouth curling into an evil smile.

Yet to Rose, those words were no different from the whispering of a devil.

And, of course, they truly were the whispering of a devil—more precisely, the whispering of a demon queen.

Her body stiffened instantly. In her panic, she tried to reach out and press against Liang Bing so she could find a chance to escape.

"You keep saying you don't like it, but your body is very honest," Liang Bing said with a light laugh, glancing at the jade hand pressed against her chest.

And at that moment, Rose also noticed that the feel of the hand was not quite right.
