Chapter 112: The Sniper Scope Is So Effective
Chapter 112: The Sniper Scope Is So Useful
Grumbling softly, Ge Xiaolun set down his long sword and forced a polite, if awkward, smile before quickly returning to his squad.
“Yangzi, how about this—just let me use it for one more day, just today, okay?” Even after coming back, Ge Xiaolun couldn't stop thinking about Yun Yang’s King Sword.
Yun Yang said nothing, silently stepping away from this guy who was so eager to get his hands on the weapon. To want a reward after not even completing the task was simply wishful thinking.
Seeing Yun Yang walk off, Ge Xiaolun didn’t lose heart. He moved closer again, wrapping an arm around Yun Yang’s neck and began to chatter incessantly.
“Yangzi, Brother Yang, just for today, give me permission for just today. You can use the flying sword today, right? Don’t you have a dream of becoming a sword immortal? My lifelong dream is to kill an enemy with the King Sword even once...”
Finally, Yun Yang couldn’t take it anymore. He retorted with a smirk.
“Xiaolun, didn’t your dream used to be chasing after ten school beauties?”
Unexpectedly, Ge Xiaolun showed no embarrassment at all. Instead, he looked at Yun Yang with wide, astonished eyes and asked a question that caught Yun Yang off guard.
“How did you know? I don’t think I ever told you.”
Yun Yang’s expression tightened, realizing he’d slipped up. There was no way he could say he learned it from watching anime—it would be unbelievable anyway. Still, Yun Yang felt he couldn’t reveal the truth.
His mind racing, he came up with a compromise and calmly said, “Qiangwei told me.”
Though Yun Yang spoke casually, to Ge Xiaolun’s ears it struck like thunder. He now understood why Qiangwei disliked him—not just because he was cowardly back then, but perhaps because he harbored dreams of having a harem.
Embarrassed, Ge Xiaolun covered his face and waved his hand awkwardly.
“Young and reckless, I didn’t know better back then. That’s all in the past. Now my lifelong dream is just to touch the King Sword once more.”
To Yun Yang, the phrase “just to touch” seemed especially emphasized, and he thought this was a perfect chance to tease Ge Xiaolun.
Putting on a serious face, he asked, “Is that true? Is it really your lifelong dream?”
Seeing Yun Yang’s solemn expression and tone, Ge Xiaolun thought he was moved by his words. His eyes lit up and he nodded earnestly.
“Alright then, here you go.” Yun Yang summoned the King Sword from the shadow plane and held it out at arm’s length in front of Ge Xiaolun, signaling he could touch it.
Ge Xiaolun rubbed his hands together and grasped the lower part of the hilt, pulling it from Yun Yang’s hand.
But it wouldn’t budge. Thinking Yun Yang was reluctant to part with it, he tugged harder, still no success.
His gaze shifted from the King Sword to Yun Yang, filled with curiosity.
“Have you finished touching it? Once you’re done, I’m taking it back,” Yun Yang said with a triumphant smile, teasing.
“Huh? Didn’t you say I could use it?” Ge Xiaolun expressed his confusion immediately.
“Didn’t you say your lifelong dream was just to touch the King Sword once more?” Yun Yang acted innocent, emphasizing “lifelong” and “touch” as if that were really the whole truth.
Ge Xiaolun was left speechless, only sighing in resignation. With a heavy step, he turned and walked away, looking quite dejected.
Seeing Ge Xiaolun’s forlorn back, Yun Yang felt he might have gone too far. Realizing he shouldn’t have been so harsh, he called out loudly.
“Xiaolun, how about this—after today’s fight, I’ll lend it to you for two more days.”
Hearing Yun Yang’s shout, a smile returned to Ge Xiaolun’s face. He flashed a “yeah!” gesture toward Qilin, who couldn’t help but roll her eyes.
Turning back to Yun Yang, his expression now worried, he cautiously asked, “I want to use it to take down a few low-class enemies, is that okay?”
Yun Yang’s face darkened, ready to accuse him of overstepping, but before he could speak, Ge Xiaolun sighed again and muttered, “Still no?”
Turning once more with familiar heavy steps and that same familiar silhouette, Yun Yang was a little at a loss.
It was the first time he had seen Ge Xiaolun like this. Previously, he was always either goofy or serious, but never so downhearted.
“Fine, fine. I’ll let you use it for one day, just one day,” Yun Yang relented with a soft sigh.
Ge Xiaolun was about to give up, having no desire to continue the act, when Yun Yang spoke again.
Adjusting his expression, Ge Xiaolun asked cautiously, “Really okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, take it. What are you, the commander or something?” Yun Yang said as he handed over the King Sword.
Once the permission was transferred, the King Sword instantly appeared on Ge Xiaolun’s back, looking quite petite and somewhat out of place.
Meanwhile, Ge Xiaolun’s Void Greatsword appeared in Yun Yang’s hands, its weight causing his arm to dip slightly.
Yun Yang glanced at Ge Xiaolun in surprise, not expecting the Void Greatsword to be so heavy. No wonder Ge Xiaolun disliked it.
What Yun Yang didn’t know was that Ge Xiaolun simply thought the Void Greatsword was ugly, not that it was heavy.
Watching the entire exchange, Qilin laughed softly at how Ge Xiaolun had successfully tricked Yun Yang, who remained completely oblivious.
Her clear laughter immediately drew two pairs of eyes toward her. Ge Xiaolun frantically gave Qilin a warning look, while Yun Yang’s expression darkened, suspecting she was mocking him for nearly dropping the Void Greatsword.
Under their intense gazes, Qilin quickly stifled her laughter, covering her mouth to show she hadn’t meant it.
Ge Xiaolun exhaled deeply, then witnessed a sight that left him speechless.
Yun Yang strode over to Qilin, carrying the Void Greatsword, and without hesitation placed it in her hands. Qilin looked a little stunned but managed to hold the massive blade.
Yun Yang smirked proudly.
“You dared to mock me? Let’s see how long you can hold this.”
During those few steps, Yun Yang had adjusted the Void Greatsword’s weight to one ton. After all, Qilin was a super soldier; handling that weight was no problem.
Seeing this, Ge Xiaolun almost laughed out loud but held it back, his face turning bright red. He feared that if he laughed, Yun Yang might take back the King Sword. He gave Qilin an encouraging look and pulled the King Sword from his back to admire it elsewhere.
Qilin, using a bit of strength, hoisted the one-ton Void Greatsword onto her shoulder and gave Yun Yang a challenging look, signaling that such a weight was trivial.
Yun Yang was momentarily speechless, then narrowed his eyes and silently increased the weight to two tons.
Feeling the sudden change, Qilin didn’t bother to pretend anymore. With a shoulder shrug, she tossed the Void Greatsword back to Yun Yang and muttered, “Childish.”
Catching the sword, Yun Yang pondered those words. This was the second time Qilin had called him childish. Was his behavior really that immature?
After some reflection, he concluded that maybe she was right and silently warned himself not to act that way again.
No sooner had he made this decision than he went over to Qilin, eyes fixed on the Punishment in her hands. Suddenly, his fingers itched.
“Qilin, let me try your sniper rifle. I’ve never handled a sniper before.”
Clearly, his earlier resolve had vanished.
Qilin gave Yun Yang a resigned glance before placing the Punishment in front of him, inviting him to try.
Yun Yang set the Void Greatsword aside, his face lighting up with excitement as he curiously fiddled with the sniper rifle.
He aimed through the scope at a distant flower across the sky and adjusted the distance. To his amazement, the sniper scope was incredibly powerful—at a distance of at least fifteen hundred meters, the flower appeared as clear and close as if it were right before his eyes. No wonder Qilin was so accurate.
Feeling impressed, Yun Yang blurted out his thoughts.
“Wow, no wonder your shots are so precise. This sniper scope is really useful!”
Suddenly, Yun Yang felt the Punishment being snatched from his hands. He looked at Qilin with innocent bewilderment, completely unaware of what had happened.
Qilin was furious. “What do you mean, no wonder you’re so accurate? What do you mean, this sniper scope is so useful? Are you denying my skills as a sniper?”
She snatched the Punishment back and gave Yun Yang a sharp kick, annoyed at his feigned innocence.
“Can’t you just keep your mouth shut? If you don’t know how to speak properly, better to say nothing at all.”
At this point, if Yun Yang still didn’t catch on, he’d have to be considered a fool. He hurriedly smiled and said, “That’s not what I meant. I just meant that the Punishment must feel different in the hands of a sniper as skilled as you. For me, it’s just a telescope, you know what I mean?”
“Hmph.”
“Ahem. No matter how good a sniper rifle is, it needs a great sniper. Only a rifle as excellent as the Punishment can match someone as outstanding as Sister Qilin.”
Yun Yang carefully chose his words, wearing a flattering but playful expression, hoping to maintain good relations with his teammates before the next battle. This was definitely not flattery—definitely not.
“Heh, alright, you’re right. You’ve got an eye for this,” Qilin chuckled, clearly pleased, and patted Yun Yang on the shoulder approvingly.
“Ah, I probably won’t get to kill many enemies this time,” Yun Yang muttered, glancing at Qilin and the Void Greatsword beside him, clearly displeased.
Qilin was momentarily stunned by Yun Yang’s offbeat remark, unable to tell if they were even on the same wavelength.
