Chapter Ninety-Three: You Really Could Bring Yourself to Do It After Thirty Thousand Years

“Don’t be nervous. I actually have another subordinate on Earth. He’s been there for over ten thousand years, so he practically counts as an Earthling.” Hua Ye was still trying to coax Ge Xiaolun along. After all, he had just seen the way Ge Xiaolun had blocked his attack with a wave of the hand, and his potential was obvious.

“Then you’ve misunderstood. There are only two men with wings on Earth.” Ge Xiaolun said as he slowly backed away.

“I’m talking to you and you don’t understand a word I say, do you? Fine, then let’s fight.” Hua Ye felt he had it rough.

He had approached with sincerity, seeking cooperation, only to find that his favored partner wouldn’t even leave him a single angelic beauty, and now he would have to take what he wanted by force.

With a casual flick of his hand, he hurled a mass of black-glowing data toward Ge Xiaolun. Because it was pure information, it moved too fast, instantly slipping into Ge Xiaolun’s dark plane, where his gene engine began to run wild.

Seeing Ge Xiaolun freeze in place, Hua Ye felt that this sort of garbage information should be gathered in greater quantities and tossed out directly in battle.

Before Hua Ye had taken even two steps, Ge Xiaolun rubbed his head and came back to himself.

“What in the world is that? You’re using junk data as an attack?”

“Ho, the Power of the Galaxy, not bad. Come on then, let’s have a proper fight.”

Hua Ye had never expected junk data to keep someone down for long, so he challenged him to a duel.

“You two go first. I’ll hold him off.” Ge Xiaolun turned back and whispered to the other two.

“Mm.” The two of them nodded, with none of that melodramatic looking-back-every-three-steps nonsense, and promptly boarded the glider and left.

And so two men, both bearing void controllers, began a battle without precedent.

First came the information war. The two of them kept hurling garbage data at each other, and in terms of sheer experience Hua Ye completely overwhelmed Ge Xiaolun.

Ge Xiaolun decided this wouldn’t do, so he directly took control of the King’s Sword behind him and began Final Judgment.

Target: Hua Ye

On Hua Ye’s side, his expression also turned solemn. He kept altering the spatial medium around himself. Earlier, Hua Ye had tried it and discovered that Ge Xiaolun’s core frame rate was slightly lower than his own, but he had Void Negation, meaning anti-void.

That was how things had come to this: Ge Xiaolun’s Final Judgment could not fall, and Hua Ye’s void energy could not take effect on Ge Xiaolun.

Both of them sensed this keenly, but neither dared be the first to let up.

Only when Ge Xiaolun stopped recalculating and forced the King’s Sword downward did Hua Ye seize the chance to evade—though one of his hands was still severed.

Reaching out, he drew the broken hand into his own grasp and smiled.

“Are you really not considering working with me?”

“No. I’m an Earthling, and I still have to fight for Earth.” Ge Xiaolun held the King’s Sword in his hand and stared dead at Hua Ye.

“If I’m not mistaken, the sword in your hand is that old lady Hexi’s King’s Sword, isn’t it? She’s already thirty thousand years old, and you can still bring yourself to do this over a weapon.” Hua Ye said with the expression of a man whose worldview had collapsed, his tone full of exasperated disappointment.

“What’s it to you?”

Ge Xiaolun was deeply annoyed by Hua Ye in this state, so he retorted without the slightest politeness.

“You’d better go first. I need to have a talk with this fish who has a prejudice against the Shennian body.”

Hua Ye’s expression returned to normal, and he waved Ge Xiaolun away. Since neither of them could do much to the other, it was better to bully this fish instead.

Ge Xiaolun said nothing more. He lifted the fish tail from his dark plane and gave it a shake.

“Tell them to leave Earth, or we’ll eat them.”

Then he turned to leave. Just then, Hua Ye’s voice came from behind him.

“Power of the Galaxy, to use your own words, I’m rather fond of you. Come work for me.”

When Ge Xiaolun heard that, his steps faltered. He thought to himself that this sleazy bastard couldn’t be attracted to both men and women, could he?

Ge Xiaolun was quite clever, and he guessed right at once. What he didn’t realize was that if he had known, he wouldn’t have walked off at all—he would have flown.

When Ge Xiaolun returned to the Seven-Armed Heavenly Blade, Lian Feng and Qixin were anxiously waiting outside the Great Worm Bridge. After coming out, he waved a hand and said:

“It’s fine. Neither of us could do anything to the other, but that Hua Ye seems very eager to recruit me.”

Ge Xiaolun had originally intended to say more, but he was cut off by the excited Qixin.

“No! He’s a scum angel. You can’t! You’re Miss Yan’s idol. You can’t become a scum angel!”

“I know, I know. I didn’t agree to him, don’t worry.” Ge Xiaolun quickly raised both hands to explain.

When Qixin made no further comment, Ge Xiaolun continued.

“That scum angel seems to want to subdue the Triangular Lifeforms. The only question is whether he’ll take them off Earth.”

The usually composed Qixin seemed to think of something. Her face suddenly went pale, and under Ge Xiaolun and Lian Feng’s bewildered gazes, she hurriedly left the Seven-Armed Heavenly Blade.

After leaving the blade, Qixin went straight to where the Tesseract was located. She wanted to verify her suspicion.

After a full day of calculations, the Tesseract reached a conclusion: Hua Ye had an eighty percent chance of subduing the Triangular Lifeforms, and then a sixty-eight percent chance of leading them in an attack on Heavenly City.

This result was not beyond Qixin’s expectations. Her master probably could guess as much too, but she still couldn’t feel at ease, and wanted to go warn him.

But the round trip would consume a great deal of time. After some thought, Qixin decided that once Yun Yang was able to move, she would have him take her there, since he could make the journey there and back within a day, and waiting would not hurt.

On Demon One, the various powers that had once invested on Earth had already accepted Morgana’s Sovereign Council. After all, this was the first sovereign council where anyone could speak freely. In the past, it had always been the angels speaking while the other gods merely accepted or rejected what was said.

Yet most of the time, if they rejected it, the matter would simply be negotiated again; if that failed, a Heavenly Blade would descend upon them. But that had all been in the beginning. Later, the gods all learned the angels’ tricks and no longer dared to clash with them head-on.

The typical examples were the Grim Reaper Karth and Pan Zhen, who ran wild after Kaisha went offline. The one who never repented, however, was Morgana of the demon camp.

Since Kaisha became the King of Gods, the first sovereign council without angels began.

Present were Flame-Sun Pan Zhen, Styx’s Snow, and, along with the demon Morgana, three principal gods dividing up Earth.

After Morgana brought Rose into the meeting room, Rose kept staring at Pan Zhen—more precisely, at the watch on his wrist.

Morgana did not notice Rose’s gaze. Looking around the room, she spoke loudly.

“Let’s discuss who Earth belongs to. To put it in local terms, we demons are asking for shares, with a seventy percent controlling stake.”

The Flame-Sun side demanded thirty percent on the grounds that their goddess Lena had suffered, while Styx, citing the fact that the Taotie civilization had suffered over half its losses, demanded a fifty-one percent controlling stake.

This left Rose quite puzzled, and she couldn’t help asking:

“What do you want Earth for? Don’t tell me you’re planning to drill for oil?”

This made Styx’s Snow a little impatient.

“Morgana, did you bring this child here yourself? She’s so ignorant—how are we supposed to trust you?”

“Mind your words, Snow of the Styx civilization.”

After silencing Snow, Morgana explained to Rose:

“There is the known universe and the unknown universe. For gods, the greatest value lies in the future.”

In Rose’s understanding, this meant that in order to face the dangers of the unknown universe, the gods had to seize every seed that might one day become divine.

In truth, what the gods valued was not that little blue-green ball itself, but using Earth to bind the gods on Earth who might one day rule the future.

Thinking of this, Rose took two steps forward and said:

“Then let’s fight for a little too. I’m Time-Space Rose, Ge Xiaolun is the Power of the Galaxy, Yun Yang has Quantum Control, and Liu Chuang is Great Wall Number One. How much are we worth?”

After hearing Rose’s words, Pan Zhen calmly explained to her:

“If my calculations are correct, the Power of the Galaxy will only truly understand what he means in ten thousand years. Besides, your Earth civilization would not support him right now. As for the others, including you, none of you yet have the qualifications to become principal gods.”

“It’s fine. I can support Ge Xiaolun, we...” Rose said, somewhat urgently, as if she wanted to express something.

“No, no. Time is still needed. Gods are not children—just because they gain divine power does not mean they can instantly speak for this person or that. At the very least, they ought to be celebrated for a thousand years first.”

Pan Zhen cut her off in a measured voice.

After a full day of meetings, the great powers argued their cases forcefully. Beyond the first few remarks, Rose could not get a word in at all.

Hearing others divide up Earth while she, as an Earthling, had no voice whatsoever, made her feel terrible.

Though pained, she did not leave. Instead, she learned one thing: Flame-Sun and Styx were not especially close.

Demons and Hua Ye were probably mortal enemies.

In the end, according to the agreement reached at this sovereign council, the demons would lead Earth, Styx would come second, and Flame-Sun would be last.

After the meeting adjourned, Rose saw Pan Zhen preparing to leave and quickly caught up to him. On the floating island outside, she called out to him politely.

“Uncle Pan Zhen, what does this meeting represent? Could you explain it to me?”

“Rose, since you want to know, then I’ll tell you.” Pan Zhen touched the watch on his wrist and turned around.

“Please do.” Rose adopted a listening posture.

“It’s very simple. You can understand it from their positions. If the demons lead Earth, then Earth will become a world of fallen freedom.”

He paused there, as if giving Rose time to digest it. Seeing her nod, he continued.

“And if Styx’s rights exceed even those of Flame-Sun, then it means death will no longer be feared. With fallen freedom and disregard for life and death, Earth will no longer have any such thing as peace and prosperity.”

Hearing this, Rose clutched her head and crouched down in pain, unable to accept it. Earth should not become that way; it would be nothing less than a human hell. She knew all too well what lurked beneath the surface of human nature.
