Chapter Fifty-Four: Our Capital...
Chapter Fifty-Four: Our Capital...
When the liquid filled the chamber, Yunyang fell asleep.
Receiving the notification, He Xi and Kaisha pushed open the door, only to witness a rather eye-catching scene. A naked man lay inside the scanning pod. Kaisha, a bit stunned, turned to He Xi and asked, "Didn't you tell him he didn't need to undress so thoroughly?"
At this moment, He Xi couldn't help but blush slightly, a trace of embarrassment crossing her face. "I didn't expect him to be so earnest. I only told him to undress, not to take everything off."
"Better check his physical data now, rather than just staring," Kaisha reminded.
He Xi responded instinctively and activated the device.
A flood of information appeared on the large screen.
Scanning in progress...
After about ten minutes, Yunyang's body data appeared before He Xi and Kaisha.
Subject classification: Divine River Intellectual Form.
Physical strength: Quasi-third generation super warrior.
Genetic engine does not match any known Divine River models: unnamed.
At this moment, Kaisha spoke, "Genetic engine designation: Quantum Manipulation."
Designation successful: Model is Quantum Manipulation.
Current functions:
Quantum Domain, function description...
Collapse Jump, function description...
Fate Lever, function description...
He Xi's eyes lit up as she read through the function descriptions. "I've theorized about a quantum domain engine, but the energy consumption is far too high—it's not worth it."
She paused, then continued, "It's like wanting to move a car; you only need to start it. But quantum collapse is like forcibly pushing it, energy spent is utterly meaningless for the user."
Kaisha glanced helplessly at the earnest He Xi and sighed, "Don't we know that? Look at his secondary permission—it completely defies energy conservation."
"So this is another form of Galactic Power?" He Xi remarked, somewhat surprised.
"Study it slowly. I need to upgrade my divine body. Being protected by this kid on the way doesn't suit my status as King of the Gods." With that, Kaisha left for the adjacent laboratory, where materials and equipment awaited.
As for why Angel Yan doesn’t need materials to upgrade her divine body, it’s simple: previous upgrades had already prepared them, only the algorithms were lacking. Kaisha, however, was switching to a new body, requiring fresh materials to forge a third-generation divine form.
When Yunyang awoke, he was greeted by a teasing remark.
"Didn't expect you to be so lively."
As a man, Yunyang’s vigor upon waking was understandable after a good sleep.
Ignoring whether He Xi's research was finished, Yunyang quickly donned his black armor to avoid the chill. Once dressed, he realized his actions were a bit embarrassing, grinned mischievously, and said to He Xi, "Our capital..."
Before Yunyang could finish, He Xi slapped him so hard he flew against the wall, stuck there as if glued.
"You little rascal. I am one of the three kings of Angel Civilization—you should have the proper reverence." He Xi stood, her voice indifferent, then added, "And this is your punishment for indecent behavior before the King."
Just landed, Yunyang protested. He accepted the first part, but the latter was questionable. She was the one who told him to undress; this blame wasn't his to bear.
"You told me to undress—how is it indecent?"
"I never told you to take everything off," He Xi replied calmly.
Yunyang realized he'd made a huge mistake; He Xi indeed never said to undress completely, and he’d only focused on removing his clothes.
If he’d known, he wouldn’t have agonized over it for so long—what a humiliation.
Yunyang wished he could crawl into a hole at that thought.
He Xi, seeing Yunyang’s face turn ashen, nearly lost her composure and laughed aloud.
"Sister He Xi, can we delete the records? Pretend this never happened?" After a long pause, Yunyang asked timidly, hoping to salvage his dignity.
"Certainly."
When Yunyang was about to sign a series of unequal treaties, He Xi unexpectedly agreed without fuss. He blinked at her, incredulous.
Noticing Yunyang’s confusion, He Xi asked, "Is there anything about you worth my attention? If you think so, say it—I might consider."
"No, not at all. I’m just a country boy from Earth, and you’re a King of Angel Civilization. No comparison." Any fool would know how to answer this. Truthfully, Yunyang had nothing of value for He Xi to covet.
Yunyang’s best weapon required marking within sight to use, whereas He Xi’s Star Fate could strike fifty light-years away. No comparison.
"By the way, I’m quite interested in you. Would you like to stay in Angel City? You could live in my castle."
He Xi was genuinely intrigued by Yunyang, especially his genetic engine—its origin and potential were impressive. If she could study it, the angels would gain a significant power boost.
"Better not. Earth is still at war—I need to return." Yunyang spoke with determination.
Truthfully, he was tempted for a moment, but then remembered the ongoing war on Earth, and those waiting for his return—Rose, Old Li, Qingxue, and others.
"That’s a pity. You’ve just given up a chance to get close to the most beautiful angel," He Xi said, regretful.
Just then, the laboratory door swung open. An angel entered—crowned, with a red cloak trailing behind her.
She paused at the sight of Yunyang chatting with He Xi but quickly masked her surprise. "Heavenly Base King, I am ready for the Holy War. I’ll depart tomorrow. The safety of Angel City rests with you."
"Rest assured, Your Majesty. With me here, even if the Demon Queen herself arrives, Angel City will not be affected." Upon hearing Angel Yan’s words, He Xi stood and saluted.
Business done, Yan noticed Yunyang in black armor, the red star on his chest clearly marking him as belonging to Earth’s China.
"Are you the new super warrior of the Xiongbing Company?" Queen Yan asked, a bit surprised.
Yunyang, following He Xi’s lead, saluted and replied, "Yes, I am part of the Xiongbing Company."
"Why are you in Angel City? The gluttonous beasts around Earth haven’t been dealt with, have they?" Yan continued, frowning.
"I was ambushed by Death God Karl. Teleported to an unknown star region. I’ve only just arrived here via your Worm Bridge." Yunyang answered quickly, omitting the distance and Kaisha.
"Heavenly Base King, may I take him?" This was He Xi’s domain, after all. Despite being queen, Yan asked politely.
"Go ahead. His combat power is halved, but he can assist in battle—should be useful." He Xi waved her hand.
"Ah Zhui." Yan called softly.
A shoulder-length-haired angel entered, gesturing for Yunyang to follow. As an outsider eager to return to Earth, Yunyang naturally followed toward Tianren.
Unfortunately, Angel Zhui didn’t take him to Tianren, but to a small castle—nowhere near as grand as He Xi’s.
"This is Sister Yan’s castle. It’s unused now, so you’ll stay here tonight." Zhui explained to the puzzled Yunyang.
"When are we heading to Earth? I’ve been drifting for almost half a year now." Yunyang asked, once he understood.
"That’s confidential—I can’t tell you." Zhui tapped her smooth chin, thinking playfully.
With a slap, Yunyang covered his mouth to stifle laughter. "You angels are really mischievous."
He ignored Zhui and entered the castle.
The next day, at the Tianren Seven Council Hall, Yunyang stood below Angel Yan, listening as she proclaimed her first Holy War as queen.
"A new era is slowly approaching, one for all angels to pursue. It may demand great sacrifice. We cannot defeat all enemies in a single campaign, nor render final judgment through an unstoppable new age.
But this time, we do not fight alone. We have an ally from the planet Earth.
Very well, gentlemen—draw your swords."
With that, Angel Yan raised her royal sword.
On hearing the queen's proclamation, every angel present at Tianren Seven raised their blazing swords in response, a solemn atmosphere pervading, killing intent surging skyward.
Seeing the angels raise their weapons, Yunyang, though slow to react, hurriedly retrieved a beautifully crafted longsword from the shadow dimension and raised it in imitation.
This was given to him by He Xi, as payment for yesterday's cooperation in research. It was her sword from her era as one of the Three Kings—no special abilities, purely a silver-grade weapon.
Since she’d gifted it, Yunyang shamelessly accepted. Though somewhat feminine, it was sharp enough to cut through fourth-generation bodies.
Angel Yan gave an approving glance at Yunyang, whose posture clearly differed from the other little angels. Seeing the determination on his face, Yan felt some satisfaction. Earth's super warriors had grown strong enough to survive under Karl’s hand.
If only all Xiongbing Company members reached this level; then the angel warriors wouldn’t have to sacrifice so many.
If Yunyang knew what Yan was thinking right now, he’d tell her she was mistaken: he didn’t escape Karl—Karl simply didn’t kill him, which didn’t mean he was particularly powerful.
Obviously, Yunyang was unaware of Yan's thoughts, while Yan believed he survived Karl’s terrifying assault. Yan’s favor toward Yunyang, granting him a prominent position, wasn’t due to his Earthly origin—but because she believed he possessed the strength to withstand Karl and live.
