Chapter Sixty
Chapter Sixty
As night fell, Yunyang reported to the command center about Blade’s arrival and recounted his experiences from the past half year, though he replaced Kaisa with an elder angel traveling the universe.
The entire North Star Force gathered together; countless crates of beer were stacked in the corner, and the two angels, Qingxue and Zhixin, who had arrived as guests, were both present. Qingxue and Zhixin, just arrived, saw Yunyang opening a beer. Delighted, Qingxue ran over, intending to give Yunyang a big hug, but felt it inappropriate given her status, so she restrained herself. Still, she smiled warmly and said, “It’s so good that you’re safe. Uncle Li thought you’d sacrificed yourself and caused a few scenes at the command.”
The men burst into laughter; everyone knew about this, and Mi Long, the North Star’s commander, had been thoroughly tormented by Commander Li. Facing their old superior, all they could do was swallow their anger and play along.
“We’ll visit old Li after the gathering, so he won’t worry anymore,” Yunyang replied, instinctively patting Qingxue’s head.
With a sharp smack, Qingxue knocked his hand away, blushing and scolding, “How can you pat my head? I’m older than you!”
“Ah, really? You don’t look it. I thought Qingxue was only eighteen. Isn’t that right, guys?” Yunyang, a bit embarrassed by the slip, tried to shift attention.
“Exactly, just like my wife—both look like cute girls,” Zhao Xin chimed in first, giving Zhixin some praise along the way.
Gexiaolun and Liu Chuang quickly joined in, laughing and agreeing.
Hearing her beloved mentioned, Zhixin spoke up. “Rose said you were ambushed by Death God Karl. Could you…”
“Cough, cough!” Zhao Xin interrupted with a cough before she could finish. He pulled Zhixin into his arms and kissed her. “Still owe me a kiss. We’re happy today, just drink; don’t bring up anything else, okay?”
Zhixin, blushing from Zhao Xin’s public display, replied shyly, “Alright, as you say.”
The other girls were unfazed, but Liu Chuang, Gexiaolun, and Yunyang felt thoroughly defeated, each giving Zhao Xin the finger.
Seeing Yunyang unfazed by Rose’s mention and joining in with the gestures, Zhao Xin felt delighted with his trio of middle fingers.
Once the dishes arrived, Liu Chuang kicked Yunyang under the table and said, “What are you spacing out for? Introduce yourself. Don’t wait for me to do it for you.”
Prompted by Liu Chuang, Yunyang raised his glass and said, “We’re all warriors of the Force. No need for formalities. I’m Yunyang, the new recruit. My abilities are a bit unique. In game terms, I’m support—can heal, restore energy, and boost attack.”
He drained his glass of spirits. Why spirits? The ladies had beer; could the men follow suit?
Afterward, Liu Chuang stood to introduce Yunyang to the female members of the Force, and Yunyang toasted each in turn.
When he reached Qilin, seeing Yunyang about to drink again, she protested, “We’ve only just started and haven’t eaten yet. Don’t drink anymore.”
Before Yunyang could reply, Liu Chuang blurted, “True, hurry up and eat something.”
Yunyang didn’t intend to put down his glass, but with Liu Chuang’s words, he downed it and quickly grabbed some cucumber salad.
At this moment, Qingxue, sitting beside Yunyang, gave him a sympathetic glance and placed a cup of tea beside him.
The rounds of drinking and dishes passed, and the men were soon toppled, thanks to Zhao Xin and Leina’s drinking contest—one glass each. Even as super warriors, no one could withstand shot after shot of spirits.
Among the women, only Qilin succumbed; her super gene was just first-generation Shenhhe, not yet enhancing physical strength.
Once Liu Chuang was finally down, Leina waved her hand, preparing to lead the girls in retreat.
Just then, Yunyang and Qilin, who had been slumped over the table, suddenly stood up and, in perfect sync, covered their mouths and dashed outside.
Three minutes later, Yunyang and Qilin sat beside the garden.
“Ahahaha, so much better,” Yunyang laughed.
“Hahaha, so ugly!” Qilin replied.
The two laughed together for reasons unknown, sitting for a while and supporting each other.
With worried glances from Leina and the others, they staggered back to the living room.
Seeing them slumped together in a chair, Leina’s eyes sparkled. “Should we record this? Show it to Qilin tomorrow?”
The girls, a bit tipsy but excited, all nodded vigorously.
Even the adorable Ruimengmeng, under Leina’s direction, posed the pair as if they were kissing.
As Leina called out “OK,” the girls burst into laughter.
Qingxue and Zhixin, the two angels, covered their faces, thinking there was no saving this group—they couldn’t stop pulling pranks even when drunk.
Finally, the boys were tossed onto a bed like dead pigs. Zhixin and Qingxue wanted to take Zhao Xin and Yunyang away, but Leina stopped them.
With all the commotion, the plan to visit old Li was scrapped. With Zhixin’s help, Qingxue poured each of the “dead pig” boys a cup of water, then was dragged away by the girls.
Early the next morning, Gexiaolun, crushed at the very bottom, was the first to wake. Seeing three bodies atop him, he shouted, “Damn it, get up, you’re crushing me!”
Next was Liu Chuang, who woke and yelled, “You two, get up, my back!”
Then Yunyang, patting Zhao Xin’s face, shouted, “Xin, you turtle, get up, my neck’s about to snap!”
Zhao Xin, roused by the patting, mumbled, “What’s so hard under my butt?”
“That’s my head, get off me!” Yunyang complained. His face had been pressed under Zhao Xin’s backside all night, and now Zhao Xin complained about hardness?
Zhao Xin, now alert, rolled off the bed and, seeing the three piled together, hurried to help.
After some chaotic scrambling, one clutched his backside, another his neck, another his waist, and another his chest, exchanging wry smiles.
What a mess—the girls really didn’t handle things well. If not for super genes, Gexiaolun at the bottom might have been done for.
“This is too much. We need to confront them,” Liu Chuang declared.
Yunyang and Zhao Xin agreed, “Let’s go, this is outrageous!”
But Gexiaolun, crushed underneath, noticed four glasses of water on the nightstand and said, “Come on, look, they even poured us water.”
Hearing this, Yunyang, Liu Chuang, and Zhao Xin turned hostile eyes toward Gexiaolun.
Liu Chuang snapped, “Gexiaolun, are you betraying the organization?”
Yunyang: “Forgetting loyalty for beauty.”
Zhao Xin: “Needs correction.”
Liu Chuang: “How?”
Zhao Xin: “Sandbag therapy?”
Yunyang: “Go!”
After a chaotic scuffle, Gexiaolun, his face bruised and battered, was dragged by the three to the courtyard where they’d drunk the night before.
The female warriors were already eating breakfast. Seeing the four approach, they looked surprised.
“What happened to you, Gexiaolun?” Leina, holding back laughter, asked.
“I…”
“Wait, let me speak first,” Liu Chuang interrupted.
“What was that about last night? Someone could have died!” he demanded in thickly accented Mandarin.
“Yeah, whose idea was it?” Zhao Xin followed.
“Agreed,” Yunyang chimed in.
“Your goddess, Leina, the light of the sun—that’s whose idea. Any problem with that?” Leina took the lead, planting her foot on a chair, proud as ever.
The other girls rose, showing their solidarity.
“What, a rebellion?” Liu Chuang faced them without fear.
“Xin is here!” Zhao Xin, mimicking Leina, grabbed a chair and stood on it, shouting.
With a series of clicks, Leina activated her blazing armor, the Zenith Blade in hand.
“Bringing out weapons?” Yunyang, undeterred, summoned the King’s Sword and handed the Dragon Spear to Zhao Xin.
“What now?” Leina signaled her followers to ready their weapons.
The girls complied, glaring at the four.
“No need for violence—let’s…” Gexiaolun, sensing trouble, tried to mediate.
“Hm?” from Liu Chuang.
“Hm?” from Leina.
All eyes turned to Gexiaolun, startling him.
“What now?” Gexiaolun made his choice, stood beside Yunyang, drew the Void Greatsword, and roared.
“Heh, let’s take them!” With Gexiaolun in line, Zhao Xin snickered.
“Ladies, these scoundrels want to take us on. What should we do?” Leina called to her group.
“Fight back!” chirped the adorable Ruimengmeng.
“Yes, fight back!” echoed the others.
“Then fight back—charge!” Leina declared.
“Let’s go!” shouted Liu Chuang, fired up.
“Ahhh!” echoed the other three, equally fired up.
