Chapter 90: Thanks to You, Little Brother, I’m Pregnant
Several cars raced all the way there and soon reached the bar.
It was one of Jiangning City’s most famous nightspots.
It was also one of Yang Dianfeng’s properties.
Huang Ying had originally planned to build a good relationship with Zi Xiaoyin. Ideally, she wanted to reach the point where she could come and go from her house at will, then quietly steal the snuff bottle.
But now, with Wang Mei suddenly appearing at the house, things had become tricky.
Huang Ying sensed trouble and decided to think it through more carefully.
“Hello, I’m here to see Zi Xiaoyin.”
Wang Mei sized her up, then called out, “Xiaoyin, someone’s here for you.”
Zi Xiaoyin ran out quickly and smiled as she introduced the two of them to each other.
Huang Ying behaved with graceful composure.
To avoid arousing suspicion, she did not ask to go inside. Instead, she simply took Zi Xiaoyin away with her.
Su Hanyan had been recuperating at home these past two days.
After Wang Mei came in, she reported to her, “It was Zi Xiaoyin’s senior from school who came looking for her. I thought that girl seemed especially cautious.”
Wang Mei had spent years in the military, so her instincts were sharp.
Su Hanyan frowned and said with concern, “Xiaonan has caused a lot of trouble lately. We’d better be careful and not become a burden to him.”
At that moment, Gu Xiangnan was on the phone, one leg crossed over the other.
“Little brother, I’ve got great news for you. Your medicine worked like a charm. Your sister is pregnant!”
Bai Huabing was overjoyed as she announced the happy news to him.
“Congratulations, Sis. At last, you got what you wished for.”
The phone was snatched away, and Yang Dianfeng’s voice came through the receiver. “Little brother, Bingbing is pregnant. You deserve the biggest credit!”
Gu Xiangnan’s mouth twitched. “Brother-in-law, you really shouldn’t say things like that so casually. People who don’t know better might misunderstand.”
Yang Dianfeng laughed even louder. “Come out right now, little brother. I’m treating you to dinner.”
Gu Xiangnan had nothing to do, and with Tao Yao gone, he felt a little down as well.
So he went out for a walk.
“Little brother, over here.”
When Gu Xiangnan arrived at the hotpot restaurant, Yang Dianfeng stood up and waved at him.
He walked up to the table and saw, to his surprise, that it was a pot of beef-tallow spicy broth.
He said solemnly, “Brother-in-law, my sister has only just become pregnant. If she gets diarrhea, it could be dangerous.”
Yang Dianfeng panicked a little.
“Is there really such a thing? Bingbing insisted on eating spicy food. I couldn’t talk her out of it, so I had to bring her here.”
Lowering his voice, he asked, “They say sour means a boy and spicy means a girl. Could this baby be a daughter?”
“If you want to know the sex, come find me for a pulse reading after five months.”
Yang Dianfeng got to his feet and hugged him.
“Little brother, I’m grateful to you.”
Bai Huabing picked up the menu and helped Gu Xiangnan order.
After the dishes were served, Yang Dianfeng clinked glasses with Gu Xiangnan.
“Little brother, you’ve had bad luck lately, plagued by petty villains. Are those people still coming after you?” Yang Dianfeng asked with concern.
“Yes. Mercenaries hired by the Fusang Herbal Medicine Association and the Dibang family have been taking turns trying to assassinate me,” Gu Xiangnan said casually.
Yang Dianfeng sighed when he heard this. “Brother, I’m barely keeping my own head above water right now. I can’t spare the strength to support you.”
Gu Xiangnan caught the implication in his words and pressed, “Brother-in-law, have you run into trouble?”
“Just a lot of irritating little matters. No need to mention them. It only adds to the headaches.”
Gu Xiangnan said, “When I first came here, Brother-in-law helped me a great deal. If you don’t mind treating me like an outsider, why not tell me about it?”
Yang Dianfeng stared. “How could you be an outsider? It’s just that... I don’t want to trouble you. You’ve already got enough on your plate.”
At that moment, a phone on the neighboring table rang.
After answering it, the man’s face turned grave as he stood up.
He walked over to Yang Dianfeng and bowed.
“Boss Feng, our bar in the East District has been smashed up again.”
“Damn it!”
Yang Dianfeng slammed his wineglass down hard on the table.
“Let’s go. I’m going to see this for myself.”
He rose to his feet.
All the diners in the entire hotpot restaurant also stood up in unison.
It turned out they were all Yang Dianfeng’s men.
“Brother-in-law, I’ll go with you too,” Gu Xiangnan offered.
Yang Dianfeng patted his shoulder and said with feeling, “Little brother, I’ll have to trouble you again this time. Let’s go!”
Since Bai Huabing was pregnant, she went home first to rest.
Gu Xiangnan and Yang Dianfeng rode in the same car.
Yang Dianfeng told him that recently a fellow called One-Eyed Dragon had been coming specifically to wreck his places.
Four or five of his properties had already been smashed.
Damaging the shops was one thing, but customers were being driven away. Business was already taking a hit.
If this went on, all of his operations would sooner or later be forced to shut down.
Several cars raced along the road and soon arrived at the bar.
It was one of Jiangning City’s most famous nightspots.
It was also one of Yang Dianfeng’s properties.
Inside was a scene of utter wreckage. The music had stopped, and the customers were gone.
The staff had been beaten, and the men responsible for keeping order had been sent to the hospital as well.
What was even more infuriating was that more than ten girls who had been serving private rooms had all been abducted, and their condition was unknown.
Yang Dianfeng’s face darkened to a livid black.
“Call everyone. Tonight, we settle this once and for all.”
In Jiangning City, he was the underground king.
He had fought his way to that position himself.
This was a direct challenge to his authority.
Soon, one of his men came to report that they had already found One-Eyed Dragon’s location, in a villa district.
Everyone moved at once and drove there to rescue the girls.
When Yang Dianfeng’s car reached the entrance of the villa district, the gate guard refused them entry.
“No outside vehicles allowed.”
With a click, the car window suddenly rolled down.
Yang Dianfeng raised a handgun in his hand, the black muzzle aimed straight at the guard.
“S-sorry. Please, go in.”
The guard was scared senseless and hurriedly let them through.
The cars sped to the target villa. From outside, one could hear the noise within, along with women’s screams.
They had successfully raided the bar today and seized a great deal of fine liquor and food. Now, drunk on their gains, they were indulging themselves in revelry.
“Boss, drinking alone is boring. Why not grab a few women and have some fun?” one of the men suggested.
“Exactly. The women who work in a place like this can’t be much good, right? Maybe they even like it! Haha!”
One-Eyed Dragon, with a black eyepatch covering one eye, curled his lips into a savage grin and waved a hand.
“Fine! Then let’s have some fun.”
A group of rough men surged forward, heading for the other side of the house.
The girls were terrified and huddled tightly together.
One of the braver ones, seeing that things were turning bad, tried to leap out of the window and escape.
But the men reacted swiftly. One of them seized her long hair and slammed her hard to the ground.
“Trying to run before we’ve even had our turn?” The man slapped her viciously across the face.
The other girls, seeing this, were so frightened they nearly lost their souls. Some trembled uncontrollably; others wept bitterly.
Another girl was dragged out roughly and shoved before One-Eyed Dragon. Seven or eight men crowded around her and started to strip off her clothes.
The girl cried and begged for mercy. “Please, let me go. I’m still pure, and I’ve never even had a boyfriend.”
One-Eyed Dragon laughed, spewing filthy words.
“So it’s your first time, then? Perfect. I like them fresh.”
The girl broke down in tears and struggled desperately.
Then the doorbell suddenly rang.
One-Eyed Dragon’s brows knit together as he cursed in annoyance, “Which blind bastard dares to come spoil my fun!”
One of his men ran to check the surveillance feed, then shouted excitedly, “Oh! Boss Feng is here! Only two people came. Pretty bold of him!”
His tone was full of mockery and contempt.
“Everyone assemble. Let’s go welcome our former underground emperor, Boss Feng.”
One-Eyed Dragon gave the order with a cold laugh, and in his heart he had already written Yang Dianfeng off as a relic of the past.
Since he had come, tonight would decide the victor once and for all.
