Chapter 32: The Personal Female Bodyguard
Wang Mei suddenly felt suffocated.
She staggered back a few steps, trying to break free from his grip, but ended up pressed against the corridor wall, with nowhere left to retreat.
“Why is it you?” Gu Xiangnan was just as startled.
He had been sleeping soundly when he heard footsteps coming upstairs and, thinking it was an intruder, acted on instinct.
He immediately eased his grip by ninety percent.
“Let me go!” Wang Mei tried to strike Gu Xiangnan with her hand.
Gu Xiangnan decisively raised both her hands above her head and pinned them to the wall.
“Gu Xiangnan, you scoundrel! I’ll kick you to death!” Wang Mei, furious, tried to kick him.
“Then let me show you how much of a scoundrel I can be.”
With that, Gu Xiangnan pressed his body against hers, trapping her against the wall.
Wang Mei was immobilized, her entire body pressed flush against Gu Xiangnan’s—chest to chest, stomach to stomach—so closely entwined there was not a sliver of space between them.
Gu Xiangnan could feel every soft and curving line of her, and his mind began to wander.
Forced into his embrace, Wang Mei had never been held so intimately by a man before. The masculine scent overwhelmed her senses, and her heart began to race.
Gu Xiangnan cleared his throat, forcing clarity into his mind. “Speak properly. No hitting or kicking.”
Wang Mei’s cheeks burned with shame. “Shameless! I came to deliver a gift, and you bully me like this.”
Her voice trembled, on the verge of tears.
“A gift?” Gu Xiangnan asked, curiosity piqued. “What kind of gift?”
“Let me go first.”
He released her and took a step back.
Wang Mei, still aggrieved, muttered, “I’m here on behalf of my boss, who asked me to bring you a gift. Is this how you treat your guests?”
“Your boss? What’s her name?” Gu Xiangnan asked, suddenly animated.
“My boss is the War God of the Northern Frontier—Yun Lengyue,” Wang Mei replied with pride.
Gu Xiangnan’s face lit up with delight. “Fifth Senior Sister!”
He apologized, embarrassed. “Sorry! I didn’t realize you were sent by my senior sister.”
Wang Mei rubbed her wrist and neck, complaining, “You nearly killed me. You’re so rough—it hurts.”
Gu Xiangnan cursed himself inwardly for being so reckless with someone sent by his fifth senior sister.
He led Wang Mei into the room and helped her sit down.
Looking closely, he saw several bruises marring her skin.
Guilt gnawed at him. “I’m sorry for hurting you, but I can help you heal.”
Wang Mei was still rubbing her injuries when Gu Xiangnan suddenly pressed her onto the bed, holding her hand firmly.
“What are you doing, you—” She didn't finish before Gu Xiangnan began massaging her wrist.
The sensation was… blissful.
Gu Xiangnan’s touch seemed magical; Wang Mei’s discomfort quickly faded, replaced by a tingling, electric pleasure.
When he moved on to her neck, it was almost too much for her.
Her neck was especially sensitive, and after only a few strokes, she felt as if her bones had melted. A wave of comfort swept through her, her eyes fluttered shut, and her breathing grew heavy and uncontrolled. Her cheeks bloomed with a rosy flush.
Gu Xiangnan swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
He reminded himself repeatedly: This is Fifth Senior Sister’s person.
But Wang Mei was captivating—her tall figure complemented her commanding presence, and he couldn’t help but wonder what other charms she might have.
His thoughts drifted to last night’s encounter with Su Hanyan in the hot spring, and he lost himself in the memory, his hands unconsciously shifting their technique.
“Stop, please stop! Where’s the bathroom?” Wang Mei, her face scarlet, fled the room.
Gu Xiangnan froze, then grinned knowingly.
At that moment, his phone rang.
An unfamiliar number.
“Hello, who is this?”
“Xiaonan? Do you still recognize my voice?” The caller’s voice was melodious and pleasant.
Gu Xiangnan frowned in concentration. After a moment, he ventured, “Is this Fifth Senior Sister?”
“Xiaonan, you’re wonderful—you still remember me. Did you receive my gift?” she asked.
Though he hadn’t yet seen the gift, the messenger had arrived. “Yes, I’ve received it, but haven’t had a chance to look yet. Senior Sister, when are you coming back? I miss you.”
Su Hanyan had told him that Fifth Senior Sister had uncovered clues about his origins; only her return would reveal the truth.
“It’ll be some time before I can return. I’m worried about you, so I’m having Wang Mei stay with you for now. If you encounter any difficulties, she can help you,” Yun Lengyue explained.
Who would be helping whom remained to be seen, Gu Xiangnan thought to himself. Still, he knew this was a gesture of care from his senior sister, and agreed readily.
“All right, I’ll follow your arrangements. But promise me—come back as soon as your business is done!”
Wang Mei emerged from the bathroom.
Seeing her return, Gu Xiangnan told Yun Lengyue, “Senior Sister, Wang Mei is here.”
“Wang Mei.”
“Here!” Wang Mei’s demeanor became instantly solemn.
“While I’m away, you are to stay with Gu Xiangnan and attend to him around the clock. He is to be regarded as me; do not disobey his orders. Do you understand?” Yun Lengyue’s voice was cool and commanding.
“Understood,” Wang Mei replied.
After hanging up, Gu Xiangnan said, “You’ll stay here tonight.”
Wang Mei was startled. “What do you mean?”
“You’re to protect me twenty-four hours a day, aren’t you? How can you do that if you don’t stay here? There are spare rooms—you can take the one next to mine.”
He led her to the adjacent room and opened the door.
It was indeed Yun Lengyue’s command, so Wang Mei could only comply.
“By the way, where’s the gift?”
“Oh, I left it in the main hall downstairs.”
Following her boss’s orders, Wang Mei had indeed prepared generous gifts—enough to fill half the fifty-square-meter hall.
Gu Xiangnan began unwrapping them: luxury watches, designer clothes, fine wine, cigars…
Wang Mei had chosen each item herself, and seeing Gu Xiangnan’s admiration, she felt a small surge of happiness.
Suddenly remembering her motorcycle parked outside, Wang Mei asked, “Is there a garage here? Where can I park my bike?”
“I’ll show you.” Gu Xiangnan stepped outside.
He recalled how striking Wang Mei looked riding her motorcycle—so cool and beautiful—that he found himself wanting to learn, if only to look impressive in the future.
“Teach me to ride.”
Wang Mei refused. “No.”
Her beloved bike was not for some man to ride.
“I order you,” Gu Xiangnan tried, testing whether Fifth Senior Sister’s authority worked.
Wang Mei, reluctant but unable to defy her boss’s command, replied weakly, “Yes, sir.”
Gu Xiangnan was quick-witted; after just a few tries, he’d already picked it up.
“Wang Mei, hop on—I’ll take you for a ride,” he said, tilting his head toward the passenger seat.
With a roar, the motorcycle shot off.
“Gu Xiangnan, slow down!” Wang Mei’s heart pounded with nerves as the bike sped up.
Ever obedient, Gu Xiangnan suddenly reduced speed.
Momentum sent Wang Mei’s curvaceous body tumbling forward, pressing her against his back.
“Ouch! That hurt,” he said, though the grin on his face nearly split his cheeks.
Wang Mei flushed with embarrassment.
The sensation of her pressed against his back was delightful; Gu Xiangnan wanted to experience it again. He called out, “There’s a stone ahead, I need to slow down.”
Bang!
A repeat performance—Wang Mei once again collided with his back.
