Chapter 10: The Enchanting Art of Ear Cleaning
Gu Xiangnan’s heart raced, blood surging through his veins. But Sakura gently turned his head, adjusting him into a sideways position facing outward.
“Master, we’re about to begin. Please enjoy yourself. This move is called ‘The Blade Unsheathed.’”
Gu Xiangnan’s mind stirred. Was this a hint that he should remove his belt? But Sakura took out a slender, sharp knife about the length of a pen from her little bag.
Alarmed, Gu Xiangnan immediately restrained her wrist. He sat up and demanded in a harsh voice, “Feng, what does this mean? You couldn’t defeat me, so you sent a beautiful assassin to do your dirty work?”
Sakura was startled by his reaction, tears welling in her eyes. She replied, aggrieved, “Master, did I do something wrong? I was just following the service procedure.”
Yang Dianfeng quickly stepped over to explain, “Brother, you misunderstood. If I dared to harm you, your sister wouldn’t let me off! This really is a service item—just relax and enjoy it.”
Gu Xiangnan calmed down and lay back on Sakura’s lap. Using the sharp knife, Sakura scraped gently along the edge and rim of his ear. It was surprisingly pleasant, though it certainly tested one’s nerves.
When Sakura tried to insert the knife into his ear, Gu Xiangnan stopped her just in time, unable to suppress his fear. Sakura then produced various odd sticks, resembling calligraphy brushes.
Gu Xiangnan had never experienced anything like this—the tiny sticks, the delicate movements, left him craving for more. It was tantalizingly itchy, yet impossible to scratch.
He clenched his teeth, tightened his muscles, and fought hard not to make a sound. His hand gripped Sakura’s skirt, his feet pressed against the sofa armrest, and he wondered why humans hadn’t evolved a hundred ears. If only, then he could indulge all at once.
After extreme excitement came a wave of fatigue. Gu Xiangnan gradually drifted off to sleep.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself still lying on the sofa in the private room, now alone. He wanted to check the time, but his phone was dead.
Someone had covered him with a quilt. He lifted the quilt, drew back the curtains—the sky outside was already bright.
He had spent the whole night here.
Gathering his belongings, Gu Xiangnan opened the door to leave. At the entrance, a young man was dozing in a chair. Hearing the door open, he woke with a start.
He hurriedly said, “Mr. Gu, you’re awake?”
Gu Xiangnan asked, “Why didn’t they wake me when they left?”
“Our boss saw how deeply you were sleeping. He didn’t want to disturb you, so he specially instructed us to keep watch here.”
So that’s what happened.
“I’ll be going then.” He lifted his foot to leave, but the young man stopped him.
“Mr. Gu, the boss said, once you’re awake, go see him—he has more to discuss with you.”
With that, he led Gu Xiangnan downstairs and into a Mercedes parked at the bar’s entrance.
Twenty minutes later.
The car drove into a lush woodland, and Yang Dianfeng’s villa stood within towering walls. After a complicated identity check, the two entered the elegant and luxurious mansion.
But Yang Dianfeng wasn’t home. The young man made a call, then informed Gu Xiangnan, “Mr. Gu, the boss is exercising outside. He asks you to wait for him.”
“Brother, may I ask where the bathroom is? Could I freshen up a bit?”
The young man took him to the guest bathroom on the first floor.
By the time Gu Xiangnan finished his shower, Yang Dianfeng had returned.
Yang Dianfeng tossed him a cigar, flashing a mischievous grin. “Wasn’t last night amazing? Didn’t I tell you so?”
Gu Xiangnan felt a bit guilty. “It was amazing! Brother-in-law, sorry, I was too sensitive.”
He meant he had suspected Yang Dianfeng of plotting to kill him.
Yang Dianfeng misunderstood, “You really are sensitive! Last night, your moans were absolutely enchanting.”
Gu Xiangnan laughed awkwardly, “Don’t tease me. If you tried it, you’d moan too!”
Yang Dianfeng pulled a check from his briefcase and handed it over. “This is the compensation old Wang promised you yesterday—keep it safe.”
Then he handed over a blank check, his voice full of gratitude. “Brother, you treated Bingbing’s illness. I’ll never forget this kindness. Name your fee, write whatever amount you want.”
Gu Xiangnan took the check and pen, thinking for a moment. He knew his senior owed ten million, and Wang Jinquan had given five million.
So, without hesitation, he filled in five million on the check.
Yang Dianfeng was sipping tea; a casual glance at the check nearly made him choke. Eyes wide, he counted the zeros again.
He’d expected the treatment for Bingbing’s illness to cost at most a couple hundred thousand. Unexpectedly, Gu Xiangnan requested five million outright!
Yet, thinking again, his wife’s illness would soon be cured. Perhaps next year she could bear him a son.
A son for five million.
Worth it!
Yang Dianfeng could afford the sum, though he didn’t have so much cash on hand. As the underground king of Jiangning, his assets were numerous—like the seemingly lucrative Oscar Bar—but most profits went to support the hundred or so men under him.
Without those men keeping order, the bar couldn’t function, as troublemakers were common.
If Yang Dianfeng wanted to renege, he could. But he’d always prided himself on keeping his word; a promise made was a promise kept.
“Brother, sit tight. I’m off to the restroom.”
Yang Dianfeng slipped into the study.
There, he slapped himself hard across the face.
The housekeeper, hearing the noise, asked warily, “Sir, is something wrong?”
“Ah… it’s nothing, I was killing a cockroach.”
The housekeeper fretted—there were cockroaches in the house, she needed to buy pest control immediately.
Yang Dianfeng started calling friends for loans.
Fortunately, he had a wide circle and often helped others, so he quickly raised five million.
When he returned, Bai Huabing was chatting with Gu Xiangnan.
Seeing him, Bai Huabing ran over excitedly, taking his arm. “Dianfeng, I drank the first dose of medicine last night. The lump has already shrunk by more than half. Come, feel it.”
She turned her back to Gu Xiangnan.
Yang Dianfeng felt it—it was now just the size of a peanut.
He hadn’t expected such remarkable results and trusted Gu Xiangnan’s medical skills even more.
The money was well spent!
“Brother, you’re incredible! I thought it’d take three days to fully disappear, but it’s only been one!”
Gu Xiangnan replied calmly, “Brother-in-law, two doses will clear it all. The third is just for reinforcement.”
Bai Huabing urged, “Xiangnan, hurry and prepare today’s medicine for me, and give me another massage.”
She could hardly wait to relive yesterday’s wonderful feeling.
After Gu Xiangnan finished brewing the medicine, Bai Huabing drank it.
Just then, a young man rushed in to report to Yang Dianfeng:
“Boss, the miracle doctor from Korea has arrived.”
