Zi Xiaoyin wanted to pack a few belongings to take with her.

"There's no need, we'll just buy new things," Gu Xiangnan said.

Bewildered, Zi Xiaoyin let Gu Xiangnan pull her along. Together, they got into a taxi and went straight to the Rose Garden Villas.

Gu Xiangnan understood well that the people who had forcibly entered Zi Xiaoyin’s home had been sent by those foreign men. Their target was none other than himself. Leaving a young woman alone at home would only invite trouble sooner or later. For now, Zhang Hongmei could hide in the hospital under the guise of treatment, but Zi Xiaoyin had nowhere to go. It was better to let her stay at his senior sister's house.

"Professor Gu, is this really your home?" Zi Xiaoyin stood before the luxurious villa, astonishment in her eyes.

"This is my senior sister's house. You can stay here for a while and rest easy."

"But how can I impose? Besides, your senior sister may not even agree to let me stay," she replied, always considerate and unwilling to trouble others.

Gu Xiangnan took out his phone. "Wait, I’ll call her."

He explained everything about Zi Xiaoyin’s situation. After hearing it, Su Hanyan respected Gu Xiangnan’s decision and let him do as he saw fit.

Zi Xiaoyin looked at Gu Xiangnan with gratitude and suddenly proposed, "Professor Gu, I truly appreciate your kindness, but I can’t stay here for free. Why don’t you let me take care of the household chores?"

Gu Xiangnan knew that refusing outright would only hurt her pride, so he nodded. "Alright, thank you for your help."

He led Zi Xiaoyin upstairs and arranged for her to stay in the room that used to belong to Wang Mei. There were still some ladies’ clothes and personal items in the room; Gu Xiangnan told her to use them for now and that they would buy whatever else she needed later.

Just then, his phone rang. It was Zheng Changhai, inviting him to take care of the villa’s ownership transfer that afternoon.

Once he had settled Zi Xiaoyin, Gu Xiangnan left alone.

Two hours later.

At the entrance of the property transaction office, Gu Xiangnan held the property deed and called Wang Ke.

"Brother Nan, I’ve missed you so much!"

Gu Xiangnan chuckled, "Don’t be so dramatic, alright? Are you free now? Come to Dingshang Villas, Building 8."

"Dingshang? Building 8?" Wang Ke repeated, then asked, "Brother Nan, are you in trouble? Wait for me, I’ll be right there!"

Soon, Wang Ke arrived in a hurry with a group of his men, all armed with sticks.

"Brother Nan, did the people here mess with you? Watch us flatten them!"

Gu Xiangnan shook his head helplessly. "Why all the violence? Do I look like that kind of person?" He dangled the keys in his hand and opened the villa’s front door.

Wang Ke paused, puzzled. "Brother Nan, are you... stealing something?"

"I’ll steal your soul!" Gu Xiangnan tapped Wang Ke’s head with the property deed.

Wang Ke took it and his eyes widened in shock. "Brother Nan, this... this is your house!"

Gu Xiangnan smiled. "A gift from the Zheng family."

Wang Ke almost knelt to him. "Brother Nan, you’re incredible! I admire you!"

His brother Nan had only been in town for a few days and already owned a villa! To serve such a capable man was truly an honor.

"I see the place is well-furnished and recently renovated. Help me find someone to give it a thorough cleaning—I’ll be moving in soon," Gu Xiangnan instructed.

"No problem, Brother Nan. Leave it to me! I’ll make sure it’s perfect," Wang Ke thumped his chest in promise.

Yesterday, Gu Xiangnan had only come to settle accounts and hadn’t really toured the villa. Now, he browsed the wine rack and found many fine bottles, along with several boxes of premium cigars. He opened some wine and cigars to enjoy with Wang Ke.

The two of them enjoyed a leisurely afternoon, supervising dozens of cleaners as they worked. After several hours, the villa was spotless.

Wang Ke’s driver took Gu Xiangnan home. As Wang Ke bragged away, Gu Xiangnan’s phone rang again—it was his fifth senior sister, Yun Lengyue.

He answered at once, "Fifth Sister! When are you coming back?"

Yun Lengyue got straight to the point. "Xiaonan, I just got word. The Cheetah Assassins have sent people into China, and their target is you. They’re all former mercenaries, experts in assassination—you must be careful!"

Gu Xiangnan’s expression turned grave. "I didn’t expect those foreigners to have such power."

"They say you’ve offended the top-tier DePond family in America. They’ve put a contract on your life," Yun Lengyue said, knowing more than most.

"I’ve already sent Wang Mei back—she can assist you if anything happens."

"Thank you for the warning, Sister."

After hanging up, Gu Xiangnan turned to Wang Ke. "Brother, you’d better not follow me for now. Someone’s after my life—it’s dangerous."

Wang Ke declared, "Brother Nan, I’m not afraid! If even I leave, you’ll be fighting alone."

Gu Xiangnan clapped his shoulder. "You may not fear death, but you have family. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine."

Assassins did not frighten Gu Xiangnan. What he feared was dragging his friends and sisters into trouble. He decided to move out of his senior sister’s villa the next day to avoid bringing her unnecessary trouble.

When Gu Xiangnan opened the door to his home, he found everything neat and tidy. Zi Xiaoyin had cleaned the house while he was away.

On the coffee table lay a note:

"Professor Gu, I went to the hospital to be with my mother. I’ll return after class tomorrow morning. There’s dinner on the table—don’t forget to eat. —Zi Xiaoyin"

Gu Xiangnan smiled and went to the dining table to see. Three dishes and a soup were set out, perfectly balanced and delicious in both color and aroma. The fragrance of the braised pork filled the room, making his mouth water.

The little girl, Taotao, emerged, drawn by the smell. "Master, what is all this?"

"Braised pork, garlic water spinach, stir-fried loofah with egg, and tomato tofu soup."

Taotao had never smelled anything so enticing, and her mouth watered uncontrollably. "Master, can I try some?" she asked pitifully.

Seeing her forlorn look, Gu Xiangnan was amused but replied, "No, it’s only enough for one person. If you eat, there won’t be enough for me."

"Just a little, please?" Taotao began to wheedle, and even a tough man like Gu Xiangnan couldn’t resist.

"Alright, go get a bowl."

Taotao happily fetched a bowl, sat down, and reached her chopsticks toward the tempting braised pork. The glossy sheen alone looked delicious. She tried to pick up a piece, but the fatty meat slipped. Carefully, she tried again and finally succeeded. As the large piece entered her mouth, the fat melted on her tongue, the sweetness of soy and sugar perfectly blended. Her eyes lit up instantly.

It was simply delicious!

Unfortunately, she ate too quickly. Taotao reached out with her chopsticks for another piece—

Suddenly, a burst of gunfire shattered the moment.

The dining table was riddled with bullets, the dishes scattered. Taotao’s hand froze in midair.

The flames of hatred blazed in her heart, impossible to suppress.

"I’ll kill you!" Taotao roared.
