Chapter 103: Master
Since Gao Hong wasn't going to show him any respect, Chen Yufeng wasn't about to force the issue. He couldn't be bothered to dwell on it.
Ah well, opportunities slipped by in the blink of an eye. If you didn't seize the chance when a benefactor appeared, then you were destined to remain a nobody director forever.
"Whoa, look at that convoy of luxury cars! Now that's what I call impressive..."
"What's going on? Why are so many cars showing up all at once? Are they looking for trouble?"
"Hey, isn't that President Jin's Bentley? Why would President Jin grace us with his presence today, and with such an entourage in tow? Could it be..."
Just as the crew members were still silently mocking Chen Yufeng for making a complete fool of himself with his posturing, a wave of astonished exclamations rippled through the crowd. A convoy of eleven black sedans came roaring toward them in full force.
Leading the pack was a black Bentley, followed by ten black BMWs.
Though eleven cars didn't exactly constitute the most extravagant display, the sheer presence was undeniable, drawing gasps of awe from everyone on site.
Seeing this spectacle, many of the crew members and actors seemed to catch on.
They recognized the Bentley at the front. It was the personal ride of Jin Zhongming, vice president of the Dragon Soaring Group—and Jin Zhongming just happened to be Jin Chexi's father.
What's more, Jin Zhongming was infamous for being fiercely protective of his own.
That made it easy to understand why Jin Chexi always acted so arrogant and entitled. He'd been spoiled rotten by his rich and powerful father, and over time, it had become second nature.
With Jin Zhongming being a formidable power player in Ninghai, and having a father that influential who doted on him relentlessly, how could Jin Chexi not look down on everyone else?
After all, whenever trouble arose, he could just run to dear old dad.
"It's got to be that Jin Chexi told President Jin he was bullied, and now President Jin is personally leading his people over. It's over, it's over—this miracle man is done for this time."
"Man, having a powerful dad really makes a difference. He can call in reinforcements for revenge in the blink of an eye. Sure, miracle man, you can take down a dozen guys on your own, but can you take down a dozen carloads?"
"Exactly, exactly. In today's society, it's all about who has the real power. No matter how good your kung fu is, at the end of the day, you're just a thug."
Among the crew members and actors who now understood the situation, some quietly felt anxious and worried for Chen Yufeng.
Others, who had taken a disliking to him, watched with keen interest, eagerly awaiting the show.
You damned poser, let's see how you talk your way out of this one!
Gao Hong, the assistant directors, Wu Kai, and the dozen or so stuntmen all felt a surge of elation as they watched the convoy approach.
Let that punk keep acting tough. Does he even know who these people are?
Even if the police were here today, they wouldn't be able to save him.
You dare mess with Young Master Jin? How many lives do you think you've got?
Jin Chexi felt a swell of satisfaction as he watched his father's convoy arrive. He had been standing quietly on the sidelines the whole time, biting his tongue while watching Chen Yufeng steal the spotlight and show off.
He was seething with hatred, just waiting for his father to arrive and avenge his humiliation, to put Chen Yufeng in his place and make him look like a fool...
Even though there were a few police officers present, it didn't matter—they were just a couple of nobody beat cops. In Ninghai, who didn't know the might of his father, President Jin?
A delicious sense of impending revenge washed over Jin Chexi.
His expression instantly reverted to its usual arrogant, overbearing look. He strode up to Chen Yufeng and said with a mocking sneer:
"Martial arts expert? Peerless master? You really think that just because you know a few moves, you can walk around acting like you own the place?"
"Heh." Chen Yufeng gave a faint, contemptuous smile, looking at him with disdain.
"You really are stupid from being a celebrity, aren't you? You think I'm this cocky just because of my kung fu? Let me tell you something—I've got connections in the police station, get it?"
He pointed at Liu Telin, wearing a proud expression as he continued speaking to Jin Chexi:
"See that pretty female officer over there? That's my big sister. You know what they call her? The Violent Police Flower. She's seriously violent. You know what rank she holds at the station? Let me tell you—squad leader. With my sister watching my back, who here dares to lay a finger on me, huh?"
"Hmph, just some low-ranking cop, and here I thought you actually had some real backing." Jin Chexi sneered dismissively when he heard that Chen Yufeng's trump card was just a minor officer. Of course, he didn't take it seriously at all. His face turned cold as he shot Chen Yufeng a vicious glare.
"Haven't you heard of President Jin of the Soaring Dragon Group? In Ninghai, who doesn't know the reach of President Jin's power? Let me tell you—that's my dad. My dad's brought his men over now. You really think your little cop sister can protect you?"
"What? The... President Jin of the Soaring Dragon Group is your dad?" Chen Yufeng put on a deliberate look of shock and terror.
Seeing the fear on his face, Jin Chexi was secretly delighted and quickly pressed on: "What's the matter? Scared now?"
"My apologies, Young Master Jin. I truly had no idea you were President Jin's son. Is it too late for me to bow my head and apologize? I don't want to die."
"Hmph, bow your head?" Jin Chexi glanced at Chen Yufeng, a signature mocking smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
"Bowing your head won't be enough to quell my anger. You'll have to kneel and kowtow. Otherwise, no one can save you."
"Kowtow works too, I guess. Better than losing my life." Chen Yufeng quickly replied with feigned gratitude: "Thank you, Young Master Jin. Thank you for giving me this chance."
"Hmph, at least you know what's good for you." Jin Chexi was privately thrilled that Chen Yufeng was so eager to kneel and kowtow to him. Of course, he assumed this fool was terrified of his power and was forced to submit to save his own skin.
He immediately waved over one of the assistant directors standing nearby, whispered a few words to him, and the assistant director's face lit up with glee. He raised his megaphone and bellowed at the crowd:
"Everyone listen up! You think this pathetic fool is some kind of hero? Hero my ass! This idiot is about to kneel and kowtow to Young Master Jin to beg for forgiveness. Open your eyes wide and see clearly who the real hero is. Only someone of substance like Young Master Jin is a true hero. Without power, you're nothing!"
Then he shouted at Chen Yufeng: "You idiot, you scared stiff or what? Get on your knees and kowtow to Young Master Jin to beg for forgiveness!"
"Sure, okay." Chen Yufeng nodded obediently, looking as though he was fully prepared to kneel and kowtow in apology.
Jin Chexi, meanwhile, held his head high, his face brimming with smug satisfaction.
"Ah, so this is a world where power and money talk after all. No matter how skilled you are in personal combat, when some rich and powerful daddy shows up, you've got no choice but to kneel."
Watching this scene, many of the crew members and actors couldn't help but sigh.
This Young Master Jin really was not someone to be trifled with. He truly had the capital to throw his weight around.
Gao Hong, Wu Kai, the dozen or so stuntmen, and the assistant directors—the ones who had just been beaten up by Chen Yufeng—were all savoring this moment with immense satisfaction.
"Honestly, you just can't kick the habit of showing off, can you? Here you go again." Liu Telin found the whole thing amusing. She knew exactly how formidable Chen Yufeng was in a fight. His combat ability was absolutely terrifying.
Eleven cars would hold forty or fifty people at most. That was enough for this guy to play with for... a few minutes?
So she was also in a mood to watch the show unfold, and even quietly instructed the beat cops to hold off and observe for now.
Just then, Jin Zhongming's convoy pulled up in full force.
Forty or fifty men in identical black suits stepped out of the cars, radiating an intimidating presence. The onlookers quickly scattered out of their way.
"Who the hell dares to lay a hand on my son?! I'll make them wish they were dead!" Jin Zhongming stormed over, surrounded by the forty or fifty burly men in black, bellowing with fury.
But the moment he caught sight of Chen Yufeng's face, his expression froze solid, and he nearly had a heart attack.
This face was all too familiar to the top brass of the Soaring Dragon Group. Zhao Tianlong had long since sent a photo to their WeChat group, making sure every one of them knew exactly what this man looked like.
Wasn't this the mysterious boss behind Dragon Ge?
Hadn't Dragon Ge instructed them that they must address him as "Grandpa" whenever they met?
"Dad, it's this pathetic piece of trash, but right now—" Jin Chexi ran eagerly to his father, but before he could finish his sentence, Jin Zhongming's palm cracked across his face, followed by a furious roar:
"You useless piece of garbage! You've brought shame upon me!"
"Dad, you—" Jin Chexi stood there, utterly dumbfounded.
SMACK! SMACK!
Jin Zhongming delivered two more heavy slaps across Jin Chexi's face, then walked up to Chen Yufeng. He first bowed deeply with utmost respect, then turned to the forty or fifty burly men in black behind him and barked:
"All of you, call him GRANDPA! Loud and clear!"
The men in black had no idea what was going on, but President Jin's word was law. They immediately shouted in unison at Chen Yufeng:
"GRANDPA!"
The sound was thunderous, echoing across the entire scene.
Everyone present was utterly bewildered by this theatrical turn of events. What the hell was going on?
Who was President Jin?
A formidable power player in Ninghai—and he was calling this young man "Grandpa"?! What did that even mean?
The miracle man was truly incredible. This was absolutely legit badassery.
Though they couldn't make heads or tails of the situation, those who already admired Chen Yufeng were now prostrate with worship, gazing at him with reverence.
Their eyes shone with stars of utter adoration.
As for Gao Hong, the assistant directors, Wu Kai, and the dozen or so stuntmen—they were now drenched in cold sweat.
If even President Jin was calling this man "Grandpa," then just who in the living hell was this miracle man? They dared not even imagine.
Gao Hong especially. What had he done just moments ago? He'd refused to show this man any respect. What if—
Gao Hong didn't dare think any further. Realizing his grave error, he scurried over to Chen Yufeng on the spot, bowing his head in apology:
"I'm so sorry, Grandpa. Please forgive my lack of discernment. I was blind and failed to recognize a mountain before me..."
