Chapter 89: Saving the Lost Youth

"Uh? Well, um... haha."
Chen Yufeng had just been bragging offhand, putting on airs in front of her for fun, but he never expected to be exposed on the spot.
How embarrassing.
Even more humiliating was the notification from the Pretentiousness Smackdown System: Pretentious act failed, minus 5 points.
Damn!
What a loss! Although five points wasn’t much, it was still mortifying.
This was a matter of pride.
Ning Doudou, however, didn’t mock him. Boys showing off in front of girls was nothing out of the ordinary, and she could understand.
To save him from awkwardness, she deliberately changed the subject:
"Zhao Zhanpeng just sent me a message, saying he’ll never bother me again. Did you have something to do with this? Otherwise, it seems rather inexplicable to me—it’s not like that rich kid at all."
"How would I know? Maybe after I gave him a beating, he had a sudden revelation and decided to better himself. Maybe he wants to be an ambitious heir now."
Of course Chen Yufeng denied it flatly. If he told her the truth, he might scare her out of her wits.
"Really? Is that so?"
Ning Doudou found it all a bit strange, but didn’t press further.
In her eyes, this probably had little to do with this neighbor of hers. How could a rich and powerful heir be afraid of an ordinary guy with some martial arts skills? It made no sense at all.
Perhaps Zhao Zhanpeng wanted to change his image and the way she saw him, and was adopting a new strategy.
Ning Doudou decided not to dwell on it.
Suddenly she remembered the video she’d just seen online of that godlike dancer. The figure looked a bit like Chen Yufeng—except for the wild afro and the big sunglasses covering half the face. Still, the build seemed similar.
So she quickly opened the video again and handed her phone to Chen Yufeng, asking with a smile,
"This incredible dancer—could he be your brother or maybe a cousin?"
Chen Yufeng glanced at the phone. What brother or cousin? That’s me!
He hadn’t expected his legend to spread online so quickly. Who knows how many girls were swooning over their screens right now? Such a sin...
"Why don’t you ask if it’s me?" Chen Yufeng asked with a hint of resentment.
"You?"
Ning Doudou gave him a strange look, then shook her head, "You’re too rough. How could you possibly dance that slickly? Doesn’t seem likely."

"What, I’m rough?"
Chen Yufeng was speechless. Did she look down on him that much?
"Yes, obviously. Don’t you think so?"
"Fine, fine, just as you say—I’m rough, and I’m not much to look at either." Chen Yufeng grinned mischievously.
"You… you’re shameless. I never knew you were this cheeky."
Suddenly, Ning Doudou realized something. She’d seen this crude joke online before.
"Who told you to call me rough? I’m an artistic youth with a taste for the finer things," Chen Yufeng said with a wide grin.
"You? Artistic?"
Ning Doudou rolled her eyes again, thinking to herself, This street charlatan really flatters himself.
Still, she began to feel a sense of fate between them. Perhaps she ought to help steer him onto the right path, to save a lost youth before he went astray.
If he kept on as a street hustler and the going got tough, he might end up as a gigolo. Better rescue him before he slips any further—it would count as a good deed.
Alas, she was just too kind-hearted.
With that thought, Ning Doudou looked at Chen Yufeng and said kindly,
"By the way, you don’t have a proper job right now. A grown man with skills and strength—why stoop to scamming people on the street? Isn’t that beneath you?"
"Er… well, what do you think I should do?"
Chen Yufeng found it funny. Clearly, the image of the charlatan from their first meeting had stuck with her. He considered himself a master, but in her eyes, he was just a street swindler, up to no good.
Ning Doudou pondered, then smiled slyly, "Let me show you a bright path. Why not try acting? Who knows, maybe someday you’ll become famous."
"Acting?"
"Yeah, go to the Ninghai Film Studio—it’s not far. Start as an extra; maybe after a while you’ll make it big."
"Uh…"
Honestly, back in school, Chen Yufeng had thought about being an extra just for the experience. But now, with his divine system and more than 200 million in his account, what need was there to be an extra?
Still, there would be plenty of people there—it would be a great place to show off.
Wouldn’t the rewards skyrocket? Hah, it might be fun to give it a try.
Feeling smug, Chen Yufeng replied offhandedly, "I’m not into acting. I just like being cool…"
"What?"

Ning Doudou was left speechless. That really did suit his personality. She was reminded of how Chen Yufeng had played the hero the previous day.
"Oh, no, that’s not what I meant."
Realizing he’d slipped up, Chen Yufeng quickly changed his tune. "I mean, I can’t act. Besides, I’m unfamiliar with film crews. I don’t know if I could do it."
"It’s fine. Extras don’t need much acting skill anyway," Ning Doudou said with a gentle smile. "With your looks, you’d stand out among the background actors. Take it slow and have confidence—I believe you can do it. I’ll take you tomorrow to get familiar with the place, all right?"
"Alright, thank you. Since you’re offering, I’ll go with you tomorrow," Chen Yufeng replied happily, thinking he’d get to show off there as well.
"Good, it’s settled then."
Ning Doudou agreed readily. She thought her neighbor seemed like a decent person, and it would be a shame for someone so young to go astray. It was worth helping if she could.
Even if being an extra didn’t make him famous, at least it was an honest living. He could earn a meal.
Besides, with his martial arts skills, perhaps he really could make a name for himself.
"You sit tight. I’ll whip up a few dishes and we’ll have lunch together," Chen Yufeng offered, thinking that since she was a good guest, he ought to treat her to a meal.
"Um… sure, just something simple," Ning Doudou replied without fuss.
It was lunchtime, and she was a little hungry anyway. They were neighbors, maybe even future colleagues—sharing a meal seemed natural enough.
Next time, she’d show off her own cooking.

[Brothers, I owe you all immense thanks. Thanks to your support, this book has already started to stand out among new releases. Yesterday, my editor-in-chief informed me that this Friday, the book will be featured as a top recommendation on QQ Reading’s app.
This is a huge opportunity, usually reserved for established authors or new books that quickly climb to the top. I haven’t even hit 200,000 words yet, but I’ve already received this honor, which means the editors truly favor this book. I was planning a big update, but my editor asked me to keep it at three chapters a day for now, and save the big push for the coming PK event.
That competition will be fierce. Whether this book can break through depends entirely on how it does then—and on your continued support: every collection, every vote, every donation, every comment. The PK event is close now; I’m working hard to build up chapters for a massive release.
For now, I’ll keep to three chapters a day. The book can only go further with your help. Please, let’s fight for it together! All my motivation comes from your support!
Xiao Qiang bows deeply to every brother and friend supporting me through the computer screen—thank you!]
