Chapter 51: Would a Policewoman Like Me Be Afraid of You?
“Come on, Brother Feng, I must propose this toast to you. Thank you for curing my illness—if it weren’t for your miraculous hands, who knows how long I would have remained out of my mind.” Wang Hui, her face full of gratitude, raised her glass to him just as Chen Yufeng finished his drink and had only taken a few bites of food.
“Well, seeing our beautiful officer back to normal makes me quite happy. For me, it was just a small effort, really, no need to keep it in mind,” Chen Yufeng replied with a smile, clinking his glass with hers and draining it in one go.
He hadn’t even put down his glass before Liu Teling approached, handing him a whole bottle of beer. With a grin, she said, “Little Hero, I’ve always admired heroes, and your performance today was nothing short of heroic. Just a toast isn’t enough to express my admiration—I’ll have to toast you with the entire bottle.”
“Come on, Big-Sis Busty, are you trying to mess with me?” Chen Yufeng joked, shaking his head as he accepted the beer. He knew this tough cop was looking for an excuse to trip him up.
His alcohol tolerance was average. He could handle a bottle without getting drunk, but more importantly, he had nothing to fear now. With the Divine Disk in hand, he could whip up a hangover cure at any time and truly drink without limit.
Still, just drinking straight from the bottle was dull. They needed a game to liven the mood.
Alright, Big-Sis Busty, tonight I’ll give you a run for your money.
“Uh, just drinking isn’t much fun, is it?” Chen Yufeng looked at Liu Teling and smiled, suggesting, “How about we play dice while we drink? Everyone can join in and really get the party going. What do you think?”
“Yes, yes, I’m all for it!” He Meixuan and Wang Hui both raised their hands in agreement. Just sitting around drinking and chatting was a bit boring—playing dice together would really spark things up.
“I’m in. It’s been a while since I’ve had this much fun. I’ll join you all for a few rounds,” Wang Lixin said cheerfully, clearly in high spirits.
“Great, let’s play dice then!” Seeing everyone so enthusiastic, Liu Teling had no objections. The more the merrier—she’d drink him under the table yet.
“I’ll go get a set of dice. Wait here,” Chen Yufeng said, immediately getting up. He didn’t want Wang Hui or Liu Teling to beat him to it. Of course, he wouldn’t use the restaurant’s dice—instead, he’d get the ‘As-You-Wish’ dice from the Divine Disk’s marketplace.
Once outside the private room, Chen Yufeng quickly spent three points in the marketplace for a set of As-You-Wish dice. Outwardly, they looked just like ordinary dice, but they were cleverly enchanted. Following the instructions, he pressed his thumb to the bottom of the dice cup for about three seconds.
At that moment, he felt a connection form between himself and the dice. He gave them a couple of experimental shakes, and sure enough, whatever number he wished for was what he rolled.
Ha! Now, who can beat me at this game?
Delighted, Chen Yufeng returned to the room with the dice, shook the cup, glanced at Liu Teling and the others, and cheerfully asked, “Alright, I’ve got the dice. Who wants to play the first round with me?”
“I’ll go first.” Liu Teling, unable to wait any longer, snatched up a dice cup and raised an eyebrow at him. “How do you want to play? I’ll play however you like tonight.”
“Alright, you said it,” Chen Yufeng replied, delighted. “So, how do you want to play? I’m a gentleman—I always respect a lady’s wishes.”
“Fine,” Liu Teling said directly. “Let’s see who rolls the lowest number. Lowest wins. How about that?”
“No problem. Like I said, I respect a lady’s choice. However you want to play, I’ll go along with it,” he replied. It didn’t matter—he’d win either way.
“Then let’s get started. Whoever loses has to chug this bottle,” Liu Teling declared, flicking the cap off the beer bottle with a casual, impressive gesture. He Meixuan, watching from the side, clapped her hands in admiration.
“Wow, Teling, that’s so cool! Teach me how to do that,” Meixuan begged.
“Trying to snare a guy, are you?” Liu Teling teased, giving her a sidelong glance.
“Oh, come on, Teling! How could you say that? It just looks really cool, that’s all.” Meixuan blushed, replying with a soft sigh.
“I’ll teach you after I beat this guy,” Liu Teling promised.
“Yay!” Meixuan cheered, but Chen Yufeng teased, “Meixuan, what are you so happy about? Big-Sis Busty’s just giving you an excuse—she won’t teach you.”
“That’s not true! She said she’ll teach me after she wins,” Meixuan protested.
“If she teaches you only after winning, isn’t that just an excuse to never teach you?” he laughed.
“Oh, you—must you be so full of yourself? Teling is really good, you know.” Meixuan rolled her eyes at him. “Fine, I admit you’ve got some skills, but aren’t you being a bit too cocky? We haven’t even started, how do you know Teling can’t beat you?”
“Because I’m Chen Yufeng,” he replied simply, with supreme confidence.
“Narcissist,” Meixuan snorted, sticking out her tongue and making a mocking gesture. He sure acted as if he was capable of anything.
Wang Hui and Wang Lixin, seeing Chen Yufeng’s confidence, found it understandable. After all, they’d witnessed his extraordinary skills and medical prowess.
Young men liked to show off—if you had real talent, a little pride was only natural. Being too modest would seem disingenuous.
Liu Teling, seeing Chen Yufeng so smug, couldn’t stand it any longer. Was he really going to ignore her like that? Annoyed, she barked, “Enough talk. Let’s begin.”
“Well, to be honest, just playing like this is a bit dull. We’re young—if we’re going to play, let’s make it exciting and really have fun, right?” Chen Yufeng had deliberately prodded her to stir up her competitive spirit. Step by step, he’d led her right into his trap.
Play against me? I’ll have you completely outmatched.
“How do you want to play, then?” Liu Teling asked. She was always a mix of goddess and tomboy, full of spirit and fearless. What game was this policewoman ever afraid of? When she was playing dice, he probably didn’t even know what dice were.
