“Fine, have them start planning first; I’ll make the final decision later,” Ye Yao Yao said with a meaningful smile.

Since the Ye Corporation hadn’t ventured into this field, Ye Yao Yao had no intention of interfering.

She felt a headache coming on.

With the company expanding back home, she would have to manage affairs on both fronts.

Just thinking about it made her head ache.

When she got home, she found Shen Yan had already prepared dinner and was busy working on his laptop on the sofa.

Noticing her return, Shen Yan looked up, “You’re back? Dinner’s on the table, go ahead and eat.”

Hearing that, Ye Yao Yao opened her mouth, about to ask how much longer Shen Yan intended to stay in her apartment, but seeing how engrossed he was, she chose to keep silent.

She sat down at the dining table, the fatigue weighing on her eased by the delicious meal before her.

She had to admit, coming home to a hot meal was truly a wonderful feeling.

After dinner, Ye Yao Yao didn’t rush off. Resting her hands on the table, she glanced in Shen Yan’s direction.

He must be working on the project proposal for Company Y.

Sure enough, Shen Yan was the sort to lead.

While other companies were still stuck in their old ways, his vision had already broadened elsewhere.

Under Ye Yao Yao’s unwavering gaze, Shen Yan found it hard to concentrate.

Why was she staring at him like this all evening?

Had she finally realized his charm?

Lost in his own thoughts, Shen Yan was suddenly disrupted as Ye Yao Yao stepped forward, snatched the laptop from his hands—a move full of the poise of a female CEO.

Since they parted ways, she had changed a lot.

Before, she was timid and wouldn’t dare oppose him, yet now she even dared to seize his laptop?

But he had to admit, it was precisely this unrestrained confidence that made Ye Yao Yao so captivating.

“There’s something serious I need to discuss with you.”

“Go ahead.”

“It’s about you shamelessly still living here.”

Back when Shen Yan was at his lowest, Ye Yao Yao had held back her words. But now that he was back on top, there was no need for leniency. “When are you moving out? You living here is damaging my reputation.”

“Damaging your reputation?”

Shen Yan’s irritation deepened at being kicked out, and hearing her mention his presence harming her reputation only furrowed his brow further. “Who else are you planning to get involved with? Do you really think me living here damages your reputation?”

Was this some mission from the Ye family brothers to push him out?

Shen Yan’s eyes darkened visibly.

No, he couldn’t let Ye Yao Yao be completely controlled by those two.

He planned to secure the project for the Y branch office as quickly as possible and have Ye Yao Yao take charge.

Though he knew it was nearly impossible to free her from the Ye family’s grip, he wanted to try.

What if he succeeded?

Ye Yao Yao was capable and shouldn’t be held back forever.

“It’s very damaging, so it’s inconvenient for me.”

Ye Yao Yao was too tired to argue. “Shen Yan, don’t be ridiculous. It’s my house; I can decide who stays or goes.”

“Tomorrow, I don’t want to see you here anymore.”

With that, Ye Yao Yao turned and headed upstairs.

The atmosphere between them plummeted to zero instantly.

Ye Yao Yao didn’t think she was wrong, yet couldn’t shake off her irritation.

She sat in her room for a while before going to take a shower.

Afterward, her mood lightened somewhat.

However, seeing Shen Yan’s sullen face brought back her gloom.

Ignoring him as he went to dry his hair, she picked up the dryer, only for him to grab it away again.

Her temper flared; she didn’t want him drying her hair.

But Shen Yan insisted, holding her head firmly to do so.

They struggled back and forth, each pulling in opposite directions.

“Shen Yan, let go!”

He dared not be rough, afraid of accidentally hurting her neck.

With a clatter, Shen Yan slammed the dryer onto the dressing table and left, radiating anger.

Ye Yao Yao laughed bitterly, thinking Shen Yan was ridiculous, looking for trouble without reason.

She shook her head helplessly, picked up the dryer, and resumed drying her hair.

Before long, Shen Yan returned.

He sprawled across the bed like a starfish, eyes closed.

Ye Yao Yao ignored him, focusing on her hair.

When finished, she found him lying as if lifeless and nudged him with her foot.

For cleanliness, she even took off her shoes.

“Get up, don’t lie on my bed.”

Shen Yan’s eyes snapped open, a look of grievance on his face. “What? This is my last night here, and you’re telling me where I can sleep?”

“Don’t you have a place to sleep?”

“I just want to change things up tonight, is that not allowed?”

Their confrontation grew tense again.

Ye Yao Yao gave him a cold look, refusing to indulge him, and turned to leave.

If necessary, she’d let him have the master bedroom and take the guest room herself.

Watching her retreating figure, Shen Yan’s heart sank.

Why was this woman so stubborn in everything she did?

He had come to the master bedroom to apologize, yet she just walked away?

Ye Yao Yao lay in the guest room. Shen Yan was a neat freak, so there were no hygiene issues where he had slept.

Though she usually found it hard to sleep in unfamiliar places, the scent of Shen Yan made her eyelids heavy, and she drifted off uncontrollably.

In the middle of the night, half asleep and hazy, she was pulled into a warm embrace.

Instinctively, she nestled closer, then suddenly opened her eyes.

Shen Yan, unaware of her movement, held her tightly.

Normally, Ye Yao Yao would have pushed him away, but she didn’t.

She chose to close her eyes and keep sleeping.

She didn’t understand why she did this but followed her heart.

Cradled in Shen Yan’s arms, Ye Yao Yao felt a flutter of anxiety but soon fell asleep.

When she woke, Shen Yan was gone.

The previous night’s conversation had reached a certain point, but that evening, Ye Yao Yao saw Shen Yan again—this time in the kitchen.

She looked at him curiously; he reluctantly explained, “I just came to make some food, not to stay overnight.”

Hearing this, Ye Yao Yao nearly burst out laughing.

Why did this man seem so aggrieved?

Ye Yao Yao obediently sat by the dining table, waiting to eat.

Seeing she didn’t continue to shoo him away, Shen Yan’s mood improved.

He had originally planned to make the food unpleasant to upset her, but now he reconsidered.

During the meal, Shen Yan saw Ye Yao Yao working diligently and felt even better.

“Have you heard about that foreign Company Y opening a branch here?”

At those words, Ye Yao Yao looked up, puzzled. “Yes, so?”

What did Shen Yan know?

“Are you interested in their project?”

Still confused, Ye Yao Yao answered honestly, “It’s okay.”

“Once Shen Corporation wins the bid, you’ll be in charge.”

That made Ye Yao Yao laugh outright.

“Shen Yan, where do you get the confidence that you’ll definitely win?”

Being questioned like that, Shen Yan felt provoked.
