Chapter 75 Stone Chamber: Don’t Do This, Give Me a Chance (Please Subscribe First!)
Fujimiya and I Dream went to find Ninlong, but before leaving, Jojo suddenly remembered something. He turned back and called out to I Dream, “Do you still remember the monster Kiru you killed before?”
“Ah?” I Dream was stunned for a moment, then recalled that memory, guilt spreading across her face. “I remember. I won’t let that happen again! I’ll protect Ninlong as well!”
“That’s not what I meant,” Jojo replied, his expression odd as he glanced at I Dream—Ninlong’s abilities hardly needed any protection. He continued, “What I mean is, Ninlong probably saw everything when you killed Kiru. She might give you a beating.”
“After all, you were the one who made the mistake first. For the sake of Earth, you’ll just have to endure it. Pain is just a normal part of getting beaten.”
I Dream: “???”
She understood the logic, but why did Jojo’s tone seem to offer no help whatsoever?
“Actually, it’s not certain,” Jojo changed tack, pondering for a moment. “Ninlong is quite gentle by nature. It’ll depend on how sincere you are; maybe she won’t beat you at all.”
There was a female feng shui master on TV who could communicate with Ninlong and even calm her down, proving that Ninlong’s temperament wasn’t particularly irritable.
Think about it: there were countless underground pipelines destroying Tokyo’s dragon veins, yet Ninlong didn’t emerge right away. She only appeared when the dragon veins were about to be severed, unable to hold back her anger any longer.
If it were any other monster, they’d have burst out of the ground long ago in a fit of rage.
I Dream now recalled Kiru, nodded vigorously with self-reproach, “I understand.”
Since she was the one who made the mistake, she had to bear the consequences. Admit when you’re wrong, and stand firm when you’re punished.
After explaining these final details, Jojo headed toward the EX craft outside. With his learning ability, after watching I Dream pilot it once, he’d naturally get the hang of it. Besides, with Pal assisting, there was no need to worry about an accidental crash.
Inside the XIG command room, Ticheng looked thoughtfully at his disconnected communication. What could be so important for I Dream?
But if Jojo was coming to the airborne base, it seemed to be even more effective.
With that thought, Ticheng felt reassured, only to notice Shishi coming over beside him. He asked in confusion, “Is there something, Commander?”
“I’m just checking,” Shishi replied, withdrawing his gaze with a poker face, though his heart was pounding.
Oh no! It’s Jojo again!
Elsewhere, apart from XIG, another woman had also noticed the appearance of the monster.
Asano Mirai, a member of the Star of Alchemy and director of the Ancient Creature Research Institute. Her parents, who studied ancient biology, disappeared suddenly when she was young, leading her to believe they abandoned her for their research. This shaped her later understanding after she began her own studies into ancient creatures.
She believed Earth’s ancient organisms had been abandoned by Mother Earth, and feared that someday humanity would face the same fate.
How to describe her—a slightly deranged female scientist.
At this moment, the EX craft returned to the airborne base. Jojo had just walked into the command room when he heard Atsuko report: someone had hacked into XIG’s communications channel.
On the main screen, a creature resembling a giant worm stood upright in a mountain forest, swaying its body and emitting sounds like those of a sperm whale.
The ancient creature Anemos, extinct since Earth’s Cambrian period, had now appeared in a microscopic form, attempting to revive itself.
Suddenly, the main screen flickered with interference, and Asano Mirai’s voice echoed through the command room: “Don’t approach it! And don’t let anyone notice it!”
“Atsuko, quickly identified the intruder, reporting, “Asano Mirai, member of the Star of Alchemy, the foremost expert in ancient biology.”
Jojo stepped up to the main screen, rebutting her words, “On the contrary, creatures that have already been eliminated by Earth belong where they were meant to be!”
“If it carries hatred and seeks revival, let it resurrect first—and then we’ll annihilate it completely!”
“Unlike current Earth monsters, these ancient creatures are carnivorous.”
“Fortunately, it’s in a mountain forest this time. Next time, who knows? It could suddenly appear in a human city.”
Jojo’s remarks startled Shishi and the others as they looked at the main screen.
Asano Mirai vehemently objected, “What do you mean by that? Anemos is a living being! What right do humans have to judge it?”
“What right?” Jojo, understanding her as a deranged researcher, retorted, “Are you human or ancient creature?”
“If Anemos revives, the first thing it will prey on is humans. With its resentment at being abandoned by Earth, it will surely devastate the planet!”
These words brought Asano Mirai to silence for a moment, then she urgently countered, “Then just prevent it from reviving! There’s no need to go so far!”
“If it wants to revive once, it’ll want to revive for a lifetime!” Jojo scoffed, unwilling to leave such a threat unchecked.
“There’s no reasoning with a thief who keeps coveting.”
With that, he turned to Ticheng.
“Director Ti, the targets this time are not only Anemos but also its symbiotic partner, Craboga. Notify the Lightning Team and Cool Dragon Team to mobilize!”
“I understand.” Ticheng accepted the instructions, trusting Jojo completely.
“Chiba, please send the video of Anemos to ground personnel. The more people who see it, the more likely it is to revive. Also, arrange for evacuation in the target area.”
“And pay attention to three reporters from Tokyo TV who always rush to the frontline. Detain them temporarily if you find them.”
“Understood.” Chiba walked over to Atsuko, conferred briefly, and then began contacting ground troops and the security team.
With Jojo’s orders, XIG sprang into action.
Shishi, idle off to the side, blinked in bemusement.
Watching the others, he realized that this time, no one even glanced at him, his expression dull.
Really, Jojo knows everything!
Compared to XIG’s orderly operations, Asano Mirai was having none of it, “Stop! You cannot do this! Maybe it just wants people to hear the cry of not being loved by Earth!”
“Atsuko, deploy the antivirus program,” Jojo ordered coldly.
Asano Mirai’s tone turned angry, “Who are you? Can’t you hear me?”
“I am human! Forget it, I won’t bother explaining to you—you’re not worthy to hear it.” Jojo would not indulge her behavior.
With the antivirus program activated, Asano Mirai’s intrusion was repelled.
Jojo felt XIG’s system was riddled with vulnerabilities—how could anyone hack in so easily?
“Commander Shishi, I’ll have Fujimiya upgrade XIG’s computer protection program when I get a chance.”
After informing Shishi, Jojo strode out of the command room, heading straight for the EX craft.
Shishi, startled by Jojo calling him, thought there might be some new assignment, but it turned out to have nothing to do with him.
His face betrayed no emotion as he walked to the window, watching the departing EX craft.
He mused that I Dream was actually quite excellent.
Jojo was formidable—yet perhaps too formidable.
Shishi felt as though he was slowly being sidelined by Jojo.
