Chapter 40: The Resentful Woman of Thirty Million Years
“The damned seal has finally disappeared, Tiga!”
“Why! Why did Tiga betray me because of that woman Yulia!”
As soon as Camilla opened her mouth, she threw her head back and howled, waves of resentment surging from her.
Joe stared, blinking in disbelief.
Good gracious, thirty million years of being jilted!
His curiosity got the better of him, so he asked, “What exactly did Yulia say?”
He remembered that during the battle between the Giants of Light and the Giants of Darkness, the latter had almost won.
What words could Yulia have spoken to turn Tiga, the leader of darkness, into a Giant of Light?
Such persuasive power was simply outrageous—Joe felt he ought to study this technique.
His sudden question made Camilla pause mid-roar; she lowered her head and looked toward the ground.
“A human? No, a Giant of Light!”
Her keen gaze instantly discerned that Joe was no ordinary person, and she recognized his Ultraman identity.
Camilla immediately became wary.
After all, thirty million years ago, the Giants of Light and the Giants of Darkness were sworn enemies.
She glanced instinctively to either side, but Hitlera and Daram were nowhere to be seen.
The unfamiliar surroundings were clearly not the ruins of Lulue.
“An unknown space—have those two idiots already been ambushed?”
As she spoke, a blue energy whip extended from Camilla’s hand and lashed out at Joe, “Giant of Light! Where are Hitlera and Daram?”
Given her underlings’ strength, she doubted they’d be killed so easily; since they hadn’t appeared, they must be restrained somewhere.
As the blue-and-white energy whip cracked through the air, the sapphire ring glimmered on Joe’s wrist.
“Why so irritable? No wonder Tiga didn’t want you.”
Ding—
A burst of silver light!
A towering silver giant appeared, raising his hand and catching the whip!
But Joe’s words just now had pierced straight into Camilla’s wound, sending her into a fury.
“Die!”
With a furious shout, Camilla’s wrist snapped, and the blue-and-white whip spun in a circle and looped around Joe’s neck!
But as she yanked to execute her garrote, she found she couldn’t budge him an inch.
“What?”
She looked up in shock; her energy whip was firmly gripped in his hand, unmoving no matter how hard she pulled.
“A Daram-type warrior? Hmph! Pay for your arrogance!”
Energy surged in Camilla’s hand, transforming the whip into something like a chainsaw, bristling with countless spinning teeth!
Especially where it wrapped around Joe’s neck, the whip tightened and began to slice into him!
Sparks flew, smoke curling up.
Camilla’s face was triumphant, but at that moment, Joe’s cool, unruffled voice sounded.
“That’s it?”
Is that all you’ve got? Pathetic.
Camilla froze.
Joe spun an Octagonal Light Wheel in his hand and casually slashed through the whip.
“Looks like you’re out of tricks. Now it’s my turn to play!”
Whoosh!
Joe’s figure flashed; before Camilla could react, he was already in front of her.
‘So fast!’ Camilla was stunned.
In her vision, the silver giant’s fist suddenly rose, crackling with golden arcs of electricity.
‘No way to dodge!’
As the thought flashed through her mind, her whip condensed into a lightsaber, and she raised it to block.
“Useless! Useless!” Joe appeared to simply raise his fist, but in reality, he unleashed dozens of blows: “Ora ora ora ora!”
Ripple Barrage!
A flurry of fists, like afterimages, rained upon Camilla in an instant!
Crack!
Her lightsaber shattered on the spot!
“What is this! Ahhhh!”
Silver fists pummeled her like a violent storm, and Camilla screamed in pain.
When her body was finally hammered into the ground, she couldn’t utter another sound, experiencing firsthand what the Primeval Alien Beasts had suffered.
Her entire body ached intensely, and every time she tried to scream, her face—mouth included—was struck by a flurry of punches.
Her cries were forcefully beaten back by Joe.
Even though Camilla was a female Ultraman, she was a Giant of Darkness—Joe would show no mercy.
At a time like this, when there’s no woman in your heart, your sword is naturally divine!
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The ground was pounded into a deep pit!
When he finally stopped, Camilla lay paralyzed within the crater, motionless and glassy-eyed.
Her limbs were bent at odd angles, her hands and fingers grotesquely fractured, and her body twitched sporadically—gone was any trace of her former arrogance.
Joe stepped back, putting distance between them.
Seeing she was unable to move, he began to consider which skills he needed to train.
During his last battle with Mephilas, he’d discovered this trick.
If the sparring partner wasn’t too strong and was a villain, he could simply beat them until they were immobilized—then calmly focus on learning new skills.
Circular Shield—success.
Particle Feather wasn’t too difficult either.
Joe unleashed a Crescent Light Blade at Camilla, which was also successfully performed.
“Ugh!”
Camilla groaned, having barely caught her breath, her whole body wracked with pain.
“You! Are you trying to humiliate me?”
Her pained question received no response.
Attempting to master the Phase Shift Wave Ray was a bit more challenging, and Joe had no time for Camilla as he pondered this.
To open the Meta Field, an Ultraman must sense phase space, create warped discontinuities in space-time, and form a subspace battlefield favorable to themselves.
Normally, it would take an Ultraman centuries to learn this.
Fortunately, Joe was talented in this area too—after all, he’d inherited Noah’s traits.
He clasped both fists together in a cross, gathering violet spatial energy, then shifted it to his fists, transforming it into blue-white energy.
He raised his hand and unleashed a beam at Camilla!
Golden, ripple-like energy, disk-shaped, enveloped Camilla and dragged her into the Meta Field.
Seeing this, Joe leapt in after her.
Within the empty Meta Field, only brown earth stretched out; Camilla lay there, groaning in pain.
When she saw Joe, she gnashed her teeth: “You damned bastard! If you have the guts, just kill me!”
Joe suspected Camilla might be plotting something nefarious.
A defeated female Ultraman CG?
No, surely not.
Only Ultra Telekinesis remained to be mastered, but he wasn’t in a hurry—he had an idea he wanted to try first.
He approached Camilla, looked down at her, and said, “Tiga misses you, you know. He asked me to relay a message.”
Since Camilla had mistaken him for a Giant of Light from that side, Joe simply played along—for the sake of his next move.
Upon hearing news of Tiga, Camilla seemed electrified; her pain seemed to fade for the moment.
She asked anxiously, “Tiga! What did he say? Tell me!”
“No rush.” Joe spoke with deliberate calm, spreading his hands and looking skyward. “Why should I tell you, if there’s nothing in it for me?”
“Camilla, if you want to know what Tiga wanted to say to you, shouldn’t you show some sincerity?”
Time to see if he could trick her—and maybe learn a skill or two from his enemy.
