A Belated Reflection on Releasing My Work
It was only today that I remembered my book had officially launched. I have been so incredibly overwhelmed lately. My child is attending school in the city, my grandmother’s funeral is being held in the countryside, and we have brought my mother-in-law home... She managed to pull through on the most critical day, but the doctors have stated that she is terminally ill and beyond the help of medicine.
Every day, I am out purchasing supplies, driving my wife back and forth to her mother’s house, picking up and dropping off my child at school in the county, and occasionally sitting vigil for my grandmother at night. I am truly at my breaking point.
To make matters worse, thanks to my sister... she gets motion sickness, so she insisted on keeping the car windows wide open. Predictably, I caught a cold the day before yesterday. Today, my whole body is aching and weak, and my throat is dry and painful. That is why I didn't post an update yesterday, nor did I have the chance to ask for leave. I am truly sorry.
I am not a superstitious person, but in all honesty, this year has been truly dreadful. Every misfortune seems to have converged at once. I hope 2020 passes quickly.
I had intended to increase my daily update frequency after the launch, but under these current circumstances, just maintaining a consistent schedule requires everything I have. I am constantly being pulled away to attend to various matters, making writing in fits and starts extremely difficult. Therefore, I apologize; please be patient with me. Once this busy period passes, I will certainly pick up the pace.
In truth, the launch is the most critical moment for a book, as it marks the point where its future is truly decided. I am no longer a newcomer to writing, but it has been a long time since I was last active on Qidian. Yet, with everything currently weighing on me, this "major event" of a book launch feels somewhat less significant.
Still, the customary expressions of gratitude are necessary. I thank the platform, my editor, and my readers. Countless authors have offered these same thanks, and while it may seem repetitive, I believe it is the heartfelt sentiment of every writer. Without these pillars, the sleepless nights and relentless work of an author would lose all meaning.
I won't say much more; I need to hurry to the county to pick up my child. I only hope that those who find this book worthwhile will consider subscribing. It is not expensive—just a few cents. But while it is only a few cents to you, for me, it represents the pillar of support for my entire family. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
