“Ye Feng, help me~”

At that moment, a huge wave surged forward. Looking closely, Lin Yao’s faint figure was already being swept away by it.

The massive ocean wave made it impossible for Lin Yao to control her body; she was being carried helplessly into the vast embrace of the sea.

Spotting Lin Yao’s location, he accelerated and leapt directly toward her.

Not only was he a recruited athlete, but his swimming skills were also quite impressive.

When he was a child back home, he often caught fish in the pond, honing his swimming technique that way.

Fortunately, Lin Yao wasn’t far from his position, and her frantic struggles meant the first wave hadn’t carried her too far out.

But if he didn’t reach her before the second wave came, the outcome could be dire.

By then, he was already beside Lin Yao.

With one arm, he held her tightly and sped toward the shore.

Meanwhile, the second wave rolled in.

Those drowned in the water were mostly good swimmers.

He dared not be careless; he held Lin Yao firmly, exerting all his strength, rushing toward the beach.

Suddenly, he realized the back he was holding was smooth.

Not good!!!

Before he could let his mind wander further, a sharp sense of danger gripped his heart.

In the end, his speed was no match for the forces of nature.

When the second wave surged, he hadn’t reached the shore.

Moreover, this second wave was unusually fierce; as the seawater engulfed them, the suffocating sensation almost forced him to loosen his grip on Lin Yao.

At the critical moment, he forcefully grabbed a small reef on the shore with one hand.

Using every ounce of strength in his arm, they were lucky; his training paid off as he held firm, and the second wave did not sweep them away.

Without hesitation, holding the already waterlogged Lin Yao, he frantically ran toward the shore.

He knew clearly that if they failed to escape this time, they would truly be in danger.

Yet fate seemed to favor him and Lin Yao—from the moment they boarded the cruise until now, fortune had smiled upon them.

Before the third wave arrived, they reached the shore.

In that instant, he was utterly exhausted, dropping Lin Yao onto the sand, and collapsed heavily, gasping for breath.

“Ugh~”

Lin Yao, having swallowed too much seawater and shaken violently just now, felt her stomach churn and began to vomit intensely.

Previously, she hadn’t noticed the brightness of the moon, but now she suddenly realized the moonlight had intensified somewhat.

Under that faint glow, the smooth, delicate figure lying on the sand made the survivor’s dry mouth and parched throat ache instantly...

“You pervert! Turn around right now!!!”

Realizing this, Lin Yao saw Ye Feng’s intense gaze fixed upon her and blushed with anger.

She didn’t dare to get up, instead lifting her head to shout at him.

Upon hearing this, he immediately snapped out of it.

He quickly turned away, though the vivid image in his mind lingered, refusing to leave him easily.

Having learned from the earlier incident, Lin Yao didn’t dare venture deeper into the water this time.

She had only gone a bit deeper before, worried Ye Feng might peep. That way, even if Ye Feng slacked off, her whole body submerged would prevent him from seeing anything.

But now, she dared not.

After a simple rinse, the two returned.

“I’ll keep watch tonight; you all keep sleeping!”

His mind was still immersed in the earlier scene. Though tired, he had no intention of sleeping.

“I’ll keep watch! We should take turns; you can’t be alone. If you collapse, we lose our backbone. We’re counting on you to lead us out!”

Chen Jing gave a strange glance at the blushing Lin Yao before turning to Ye Feng.

“That works. I’ll keep watch for the first half of the night, you take the second half.”

Ye Feng didn’t insist.

After arranging this, he returned to the reef.

Just then, howling wolves echoed in the distance, accompanied by faint screams, sending chills through them.

But more than fear, there was a sense of desolation. Clearly, someone had fallen prey to the wolves. It was a stark reminder of how fragile human life was in moments like these.

The night passed without incident.

At dawn, a piercing scream startled them awake.

Ye Feng immediately grabbed his baseball bat and stepped outside their camp.

“Are the wolves coming?”

Lin Xiaoxiao shivered.

But soon it became clear that the answer was no.

On the beach, two figures were engaged in a chase.

Of course, they knew this wasn’t a game.

But the one being chased drew their frowns.

“It’s that woman again! And she’s running toward us. Does she want help again? Ye Feng, don’t help her. People like her are traitors.”

The one being chased was none other than Gao Fei’er, who had left earlier.

She was running in their direction.

However, the man chasing her struck Ye Feng as odd.

His eyes were slightly red, clearly not normal.

“Ye Feng, save me! Please, save me!!!”

Seeing Ye Feng, Gao Fei’er seemed to see a savior and shouted wildly.

“Ye Feng, are you really going to rescue her?”

Lin Yao frowned, displeased as she saw Ye Feng move toward them.

“I don’t want to see her die with a grudge in her heart; I won’t be able to sleep tonight. Besides, that man’s not right. If she lures him here, it could be dangerous for us too.”

Ye Feng said and, gripping his bat, quickly ran toward Gao Fei’er.

“Damn Ye Feng! I was just trying to look out for him, and he doesn’t appreciate it. It’s infuriating!”

Lin Yao was furious.

“Ye Feng’s right; that man’s not right. Look at his eyes,” said the calm Chen Jing.

“Hey, why are his eyes red?” Lin Yao asked in surprise.

“He has wounds on his legs, probably wolf bites. I suspect he’s infected...” Chen Jing said gravely.

Arriving on this deserted island, besides facing wild dangers, the greatest threat was the virus.

This was an isolated isle; no one knew how many terrifying bacteria or viruses lurked here.

If infected and then contagious, with so many people on the island, the wild wolves wouldn’t be the scariest threat—those infected would be.

Before them was a perfect example.

This was a heavy burden to bear.

Could they hold out until the rescue team arrived?

“Infected? Could he have turned into a zombie?”

Having watched plenty of zombie movies, Lin Yao’s face instantly paled, her voice trembling.

“We’re not sure yet. At least this man isn’t a zombie...” Ye Feng said.

Mentioning zombies sent chills through the two women.

Even calm Chen Jing was visibly trembling.

After all, she was a woman too.

Lin Xiaoxiao, beside them, was even paler, her youthful face drained of color.

“Ye Feng, kill him quickly! He was bitten by a wolf and mutated!!!”

Seeing Ye Feng come to her aid, Gao Fei’er shouted excitedly.

Hearing this, Ye Feng’s heart skipped a beat.

Seeing the frenzied man chasing Gao Fei’er, seemingly devoid of reason and ignoring his presence, Ye Feng didn’t hesitate.

He gripped the baseball bat with both hands and struck wildly at the man’s head.

The force sent him crashing to the ground, blood slowly staining the sand.

Ye Feng collapsed onto the beach, gasping.

No matter what, he had never done such a thing—even when beating the big bully who had tormented Gao Fei’er, he hadn’t struck with lethal force.

Now, even if the mutated man wasn’t dead, he was close.

In other words, he had effectively killed someone.

Murder was something he had never dared to imagine.

His violent swing was a moment of impulse.

But considering the harm the mutated man could bring, he had gritted his teeth to make the decision.

Though he felt no regret, seeing the blood slowly seep out made him uneasy.

Suddenly, his stomach churned, and he began to gag violently.

“Ye Feng, are you okay?”

At that moment, a grateful Gao Fei’er approached and squatted before him.

Her chest, as white as snow, immediately dispelled his nausea, making his eyes go wide.
