Chapter 34: Blocked
Bai Feiyu walked along the main road. He hadn’t gone far before he saw several figures ahead, as if they were lying in wait just for him. Leading them was Chen Xuan.
Seeing Chen Xuan here, Bai Feiyu instantly understood everything. This must be the help Chen Xuan had sought; the boy was still harboring evil intentions and wanted to make a move against him.
But that was just as well. Since the Grand Elder refused to act, Bai Feiyu would take it upon himself to teach his grandson a lesson.
“Kid, you were acting so arrogant before, weren’t you? Now your end has come!” Chen Xuan shouted with unrestrained arrogance.
“Heh, so much nonsense. Coward, is this all you’ve got?” Bai Feiyu retorted without holding back, his face twisted in contempt. “On the path of cultivation, only the strong are respected. Someone like you is fit only to be a parasite.”
Sure enough, Bai Feiyu’s words successfully ignited Chen Xuan’s fury. Never in his life had anyone spoken to him like this. After all, his grandfather was the Grand Elder—his status had been different from birth. He’d always been the one to humiliate others, but today, he was the one being humiliated.
In that instant, Chen Xuan was beside himself with rage. He felt as if Bai Feiyu was the greatest foe he had ever encountered.
“Still so stubborn? Hmph, this time, I want to see just how sharp your tongue really is!” Chen Xuan snarled maliciously.
He sneered, “Chen Xuan, without your Grand Elder grandfather, you’re nothing but a worthless piece of trash!” As he spoke, Bai Feiyu calmly placed the box he carried into his storage ring. In a situation like this, losing his spirit stones would be a loss he couldn’t afford, especially when dealing with someone like Chen Xuan.
“Hand it over! That belongs to Sister Qianshuang—how dare you touch it?” Chen Xuan’s eyes blazed with anger at the sight of the box. Just looking at it, he could tell it was filled with spirit stones, and it had been given by Sister Qianshuang herself. Even he had never received such a gift from her, and now this boy had been given so many spirit stones. He was sick with jealousy.
But as he gazed at the pile of spirit stones, a new idea took root in Chen Xuan’s mind.
Since it was Sister Qianshuang who had given them away, it wouldn’t be appropriate to snatch them back and return them to her—she might even scold him for it. But if he kept them for himself, then when it was time to repay the debt, it would still be this boy who owed it. Not only that, he had a group of underlings to support, and those lackeys required a considerable outlay of spirit stones every year. They were his pride, his reputation. Supporting them was a massive expense that always gave him a headache. Even though his grandfather was the Grand Elder, he could only grant him spirit stones for his own cultivation. Asking for more to maintain a group of hangers-on was out of the question. Besides, if the other elders learned of it, who knew what they’d report to the sect master?
But now, if he just robbed this boy, all his problems would be solved. With this many spirit stones, he could keep his followers satisfied and wouldn’t have to wrack his brains next month for an excuse to ask his grandfather for more.
Having made up his mind, Chen Xuan’s smile grew wider. He waved his hand grandly to the brothers beside him and said, “Brothers, please, lend a hand. We’ll all go together—this kid’s got some tricks. Seize him and give him a good beating to vent my anger!”
At Chen Xuan’s command, his companions immediately gathered their strength and charged at Bai Feiyu like a herd of wild bulls. These inner disciples were all on good terms with Chen Xuan and eager to curry favor with the Grand Elder, so they saw Bai Feiyu as nothing more than a joke.
Deep down, they didn’t believe Bai Feiyu could match them. Still, since Chen Xuan had spoken, they would act together—besides, if they didn’t, only one of them would get the credit.
A sharp hum rang out as Bai Feiyu drew his longsword in a flash. The sword sang as if a white dragon coiled swiftly around him.
“Kill!” Bai Feiyu shouted fiercely, rushing toward the inner disciples.
The strongest among them was at the seventh level of the Qi Manifestation Realm, and the others at the sixth. Truth be told, their cultivation wasn’t bad, but to him, they were just practice dummies.
“Seven Treasures Mystic Art!”
“Sky Severing Strike!”
“Galo Fist!”
The three inner disciples roared, unleashing their techniques at Bai Feiyu. Although he had captured someone at the fifth level of the Qi Manifestation Realm, they still didn’t believe he could stand against them. So what if he was talented? Unless he was some legendary genius, he would never rise above the confines of the Void Returning Sect.
And within the Void Returning Sect, the most powerful figure besides the sect master was the Grand Elder. Building a relationship with the Grand Elder’s grandson would bring them countless advantages in the future.
A thunderous boom erupted as Bai Feiyu met their fierce assault. With a single sweep of his sword, ripples burst forth in a brilliant arc, as elegant as a beauty’s dance. This technique was one Bai Feiyu had picked up from the fifth-level Qi Manifestation disciple of a small sect. Admittedly, it seemed more suited to a young woman, but the system had given it a decent evaluation.
Well, decent was good enough for the Void Returning Sect.
The moment the ripples surged, a wild, oppressive force filled the air, bearing down on the three inner disciples like a mighty dragon. They immediately felt a sense of danger.
“This kid really does have some skill. We can’t hold back any longer!” the leading seventh-level disciple said gravely.
One mere attack had put them on edge—it was clear this boy truly had the power to fight across realms. If they didn’t defeat him quickly and deal a heavy blow to his resolve, even if they won, he might never accept it. And once he matured, he would become a serious problem.
Thinking this, the three inner disciples exchanged glances and nodded in unison.
But Bai Feiyu paid them no heed—he was busy collecting attributes. Inner disciples like these were undoubtedly among the best, and by picking up their technique and vitality attributes, his own cultivation could rise another step. Not to mention, disciples of this caliber were sure to have treasures on them. Their techniques would certainly be top-tier within the sect.
“Kid, you really do have some ability, but you’ve succeeded only in enraging us.”
“We were going to let you off with a light lesson, but since you’re this strong, we won’t let you off so easily today.”
