At this moment, facing Bai Feiyu, Qian Shuang finally felt a headache coming on. To be honest, the three fat men hadn’t actually started their robbery yet. Even if she brought them before the Punishment Elder, it wouldn’t be much trouble. On the other hand, if she really did send these three to the Punishment Elder, wouldn’t that make her entirely fall into Bai Feiyu’s hands? But if she didn’t, Bai Feiyu’s relentless attitude left her no way to back down.

At the same time, Qian Shuang found herself curious about Bai Feiyu. This junior brother, merely an outer disciple, had actually managed to defeat Chen Xuan. One had to know that Chen Xuan was no ordinary inner disciple; the grandson of the Grand Elder, far above the average. Yet even so, this little outer disciple had beaten him.

“Junior Brother Feiyu, check these three’s disciple records and see which dormitory they’re in. Leave this matter to me. You three, within three months, deliver thirty spirit stones to Junior Brother Feiyu. If you dare not pay him back, I will immediately report to my father and have you all expelled!”

Qian Shuang’s tone was icy. At this point, if she didn’t give Bai Feiyu an answer, he would likely make endless trouble. Besides, Qian Shuang herself had high hopes for Bai Feiyu; naturally, she wouldn’t embarrass him at a time like this. Moreover, she hadn’t actually said she would send these three to the elders, but merely demanded compensation. This way, Bai Feiyu would be appeased, and she wouldn’t lose face.

Hearing the Sect Leader’s daughter personally ordering them to pay up, the three fat men were dumbstruck. Still, they knew the situation was out of their control. They could only accept their bad luck. If they didn’t, they would almost certainly be expelled from the sect. Once expelled, they’d have no place to go in the area, and their path of cultivation would be cut off.

“Thank you, Senior Sister Qian Shuang, you are truly mighty, awe-inspiring, and just...”

Hearing Qian Shuang order compensation, Bai Feiyu grinned from ear to ear, his eyes narrowing into slits. He stepped forward, checked the disciples’ information, and then allowed the three to leave.

Although three months was a long time, there was no other way. An outer disciple only received five spirit stones per month; it was nowhere near enough. Even if they tried borrowing from friends, they’d likely come up short. But Qian Shuang had already done more than enough for him.

“Junior Brother Feiyu, as for what I promised you before, rest assured—the Grand Elder will not trouble you. With your strength, you should have become an inner disciple long ago. When I return, I’ll definitely report everything to my father. Your promotion to the inner sect is guaranteed!”

Qian Shuang spoke to Bai Feiyu again.

“Thank you, Senior Sister Qian Shuang!” Bai Feiyu nodded in gratitude. He truly longed to enter the inner sect—after all, inner disciples received fifty spirit stones per month. The difference was obvious. Of course, after joining the inner sect, he would face far stronger disciples, which meant more opportunities to gain attributes.

...

Back in his dormitory, Bai Feiyu lay down on his bed. Outer disciples differed greatly from inner ones; inner disciples had their own private courtyards, while outer disciples were crammed into large shared dorms with dozens of beds. The dormitory was a chaotic mess, filled with those who had long abandoned any hope of promotion and were simply muddling through. The environment was far from ideal.

Bai Feiyu kept to himself, not interacting much with the others, mainly because he was unfamiliar with the original Bai Feiyu’s memories and didn’t know who his friends were.

“Bai Feiyu, let’s go!”

Just as Bai Feiyu was lying down, lost in thought, a shifty-looking fellow suddenly patted him.

“What is it?” Bai Feiyu asked, a bit confused.

Seeing Bai Feiyu’s clueless look, the fellow was perplexed, then put on a sly expression as he looked at Bai Feiyu.

Bai Feiyu felt deeply uncomfortable under that gaze. He still couldn’t figure out what the man wanted. Seeing Bai Feiyu still feigning ignorance, the man grew annoyed.

“So you’re giving me the cold shoulder? If you don’t want to go, just say so—why pretend to be pure? Next time there’s a chance to peek at junior sisters bathing, I won’t take you!”

With that, the man stormed off, leaving Bai Feiyu utterly bemused.

Seriously? Is this the kind of crowd Bai Feiyu used to hang out with?

“Feiyu, what’s going on? This isn’t like you. You used to be the most eager for this sort of thing—begging others to take you. What’s gotten into you today?”

Seeing his lack of interest, someone named Lin Pu was surprised. This was the kind of opportunity he would kill for. The only reason Bai Feiyu got invited each time was because he’d once given the guy a spirit stone; otherwise, he’d have no chance.

“I’ve turned over a new leaf. I’ve thought it through—it’s time to focus on my cultivation!” Bai Feiyu replied with a straight face.

At his words, the dormitory erupted in laughter.

Honestly, in this dormitory, everyone knew everyone else. Even among outer disciples, there were cliques, and the ones who lazed around were always grouped together. Everyone here was the idling sort.

“You brat, you actually talk about reforming? If your dead mother heard, she might just come back to life out of joy!” a big, fat man with flapping ears said, laughing exaggeratedly as he pointed at Bai Feiyu.

Bai Feiyu frowned. He’d seen rudeness before, but never to this extent. This dormitory really was full of lowlifes.

He looked at the big man and said coldly, “Watch your tongue. Don’t insult my mother—or you’ll answer to me!”

“Oh? Who do you think you’re threatening? Came back from the secret realm with some guts, did you?” The big man’s expression darkened and he strode toward Bai Feiyu with a cold snort.

“Kun, Kun, calm down! Bai Feiyu must be in a bad mood. Don’t take it to heart!” Lin Pu hastily tried to smooth things over, throwing Bai Feiyu meaningful glances the whole time.

The big man, Liu Kun, was the undisputed tyrant of this dormitory. No one dared provoke “Brother Kun.” The others, however, were simply ready to watch the show.
