Bai Feiyu’s words instantly caused an uproar. No one had expected that, after heading out for a short while, Bai Feiyu would actually manage to discover the whereabouts of the Minor Sect.

To be honest, wiping out the Minor Sect was far more important than the task concerning Li Zikun. For as long as anyone could remember, the Minor Sect in the Chaotic Minister Mountains had been a thorn that the Gui Xu Sect desperately wanted to remove. Yet, the Minor Sect remained entrenched and elusive, making it nearly impossible to locate their base of operations.

Moreover, now that Bai Feiyu had returned with such information—if his claim was true—then the current mission would have to be called off. After all, if Li Zikun had sought refuge with the Minor Sect, it would no longer be simply a matter of dealing with Li Zikun alone. Even though Bai Feiyu had previously accepted the mission and might not be able to complete it, his own standing would remain unaffected. In fact, the reward in spirit stones for the mission would still be granted to him.

In that moment, everyone shared the same thought: Bai Feiyu had stumbled upon extraordinary luck.

“Wow, that kid’s luck is unbelievable. He just went out for a bit and managed to find the whereabouts of the Minor Sect.”

“That’s right! He’s basically earned five hundred spirit stones just by chance, simply by discovering the Minor Sect’s location during his excursion.”

“It’s not fair to put it that way. Bai Feiyu is certainly capable—after all, even those at the fifth level of the Haoqi Realm have fallen to him.”

“I was looking forward to seeing Bai Feiyu make a fool of himself, but it seems things have turned out quite differently. That wager will probably be canceled too.”

Many of the disciples shook their heads, but not a single one suspected Bai Feiyu of lying. No one would dare fabricate such a claim, especially since the revelation of the Minor Sect’s location would mobilize the entire Gui Xu Sect. If it turned out to be false information, the one responsible would be executed on the spot.

Upon hearing Bai Feiyu’s report, the elder in charge of the Mission Hall trembled and immediately sought confirmation. Once it was established that Bai Feiyu was telling the truth, the elders within the Mission Hall erupted into commotion. The issuance of all missions was suspended, and every elder threw themselves into addressing this matter.

Bai Feiyu waited patiently.

After about an hour, hurried footsteps echoed from within the Mission Hall, and a majestic figure strode into the great hall. The newcomer wore Daoist robes and appeared around forty, his stern face exuding a natural air of authority.

This was Chiba, the current sect master of Gui Xu Sect.

In recent days, Sect Master Chiba had heard more than a little about Bai Feiyu—mainly because he had never encountered a disciple so prone to causing mischief. When Qianshuang had reported on Bai Feiyu and asked the sect master to help promote him to the inner sect, Chiba had been curious to see what surprises this young man might bring. According to Qianshuang’s description, Bai Feiyu was undoubtedly a genius.

Subsequent events—including Bai Feiyu’s refusal to join the Eagle Alliance and his solo acceptance of the mission to slay Li Zikun—had all been closely watched by the sect master. He hadn’t expected the youngster to return so quickly, and with such critical intelligence.

For the first time, a smile flickered across the normally stern face of the sect master.

The Minor Sect had been a malignant presence for many years, and no one had ever managed to eradicate it. The root of the problem lay in the Minor Sect’s ability to conceal itself; Gui Xu Sect had never discovered their lair. This had plagued generations of sect masters. Each time they sought to sweep out the Minor Sect, they had to send large numbers of disciples to disguise themselves as villagers and spy on the sect’s movements, then attempt to quietly eliminate them. The results were never great and wasted considerable manpower.

But now, with Bai Feiyu having captured an insider from the Minor Sect, there was a real chance of wiping them out in one fell swoop.

“You’re Bai Feiyu?” the sect master asked, glancing at him.

“Yes, greetings, Sect Master!” Bai Feiyu replied respectfully, bowing deeply.

No matter what, he owed his entry into the inner sect entirely to the sect master’s favor. After all, it was only because Qianshuang had reported on his behalf that the sect master had made an exception for him, even though his cultivation had been a bit lacking at the time.

“Hmm, not bad. Last time Qianshuang spoke to me about you, you were still at the Qi Refining stage, and now you’ve already reached the Haoqi Realm!” The sect master looked him over and nodded. “You’ve done well—capturing a member of the Minor Sect alive. This could resolve Gui Xu Sect’s greatest threat.”

“I hereby declare that you’ve completed the Li Zikun mission after all. You may collect the reward of five hundred spirit stones.”

A smile lit up Bai Feiyu’s face—this was exactly the pronouncement he had been waiting for.

At that moment, the sect master turned his gaze upon the captured disciples of the Minor Sect. The mere glance from the sect master was enough to terrify one of them into immediately revealing the Minor Sect’s location. After all, confessing might be considered a great merit and could spare him from execution; he might even be allowed to join Gui Xu Sect as a disciple, since he was also talented. But if he refused to speak, Gui Xu Sect would have countless ways to make him talk.

“Very good. Bai Feiyu has rendered an outstanding service today. Once the Minor Sect is destroyed, I will personally reward you.”

“Now, Gui Xu Sect will immediately mobilize to exterminate the Minor Sect!” the sect master declared with high spirits.

The Minor Sect, after all, had already been battered years ago and was no longer a formidable force. Even if they were to be wiped out, it would take little effort.

“Sect Master, this disciple has one more request,” Bai Feiyu said, cupping his fists.

“You’re referring to your wager, aren’t you? Young man, don’t be greedy. This time you were quite rash—had you not been lucky enough to capture a member of the Minor Sect, you wouldn’t have been able to complete the mission at all. Since the mission wasn’t completed by you alone, the bet is null and void. All spirit stones are to be returned, and the matter is closed,” the sect master replied, frowning, assuming Bai Feiyu was being avaricious and wanted the bet declared in his favor.

Such a thing was impossible. Had he not managed to capture a Minor Sect disciple, Bai Feiyu would have lost everything he had wagered. This was the only aspect of Bai Feiyu that the sect master disliked: overestimating himself, taking on Li Zikun’s mission, and staking a year’s worth of spirit stones.

“No, Sect Master, that’s not what I mean!” Bai Feiyu quickly interjected. “I’m not asking for your help in declaring me the winner of the bet. Rather, I wish to request that you bring Li Zikun back alive! If he is captured, I would like to fight him in a fair duel. If I win, then the wager will stand as my victory.”
