Her expression softened abruptly, and her eyelashes fluttered. "I did not harm Miss Yao, nor do I have any reason to. After all, President Sheng, I have no romantic interest in you."

"I already have someone I love."

"He is like that patch of white moonlight outside the window—gentle and beautiful."

After saying this, Jiang Nanxing curled her toes in embarrassment. That should count as hitting the "white moonlight" keyword, right?

Sheng Ting was momentarily stunned. At this moment, Jiang Nanxing appeared beautiful yet fragile, pale yet powerless. Her back remained straight, making her seem so delicate yet so strong. A memory flashed through Sheng Ting’s mind of the first time he met Jiang Nanxing; she was exactly this kind of contradiction, someone who made it impossible to look away. It was that same quality that had compelled him to keep her by his side.

He couldn't help but soften his tone, looking down at Jiang Nanxing from his position of authority. "There is no need for you to make up such lies. Countless women adore me, but none are as vicious as you, harming Yan-yan."

Jiang Nanxing almost gagged. She secretly comforted herself: *It’s all for the sake of the plot milestone. Just endure it.*

Yao Xinyue noticed Sheng Ting’s hesitation and immediately sobbed softly, "Brother Sheng, my head hurts so much, and my hand hurts, too."

Hearing her cry, Sheng Ting’s heart ached. He hardened his resolve. "Since you caused Yue-yue to break her hand, you shall compensate her with a pair of your own!"

Yao Xinyue wasn't finished. She tilted her head slightly, revealing the redness and swelling on her forehead to fan the flames further. "Brother Sheng, let it go."

"As a woman, I can understand Sister Nanxing. It’s all Brother Sheng’s fault for being too wonderful and outstanding, which made her want to monopolize you."

"Who wouldn't want to be with a perfect man like you, Brother Sheng?"

"It is only natural that she would harm me."

"I already have you, so please be more lenient with her."

These words caused Sheng Ting's remaining hesitation to vanish completely. His gaze turned sharp as a blade, cold and ruthless as he looked at Jiang Nanxing. "Yue-yue, you are just too kind, which is why she bullies you like this."

He gestured to the bodyguards pinning Jiang Nanxing down. "Break both of her hands for me!"

"Let her taste what it feels like to have her hands broken!"

Jiang Nanxing thought to herself, *We’ve been wasting time with small talk for so long, can the villain hurry up and arrive?* She squeezed the fruit knife hidden in her sleeve. If he didn't show up soon, she would have to find someone else to collaborate with.

The two bodyguards followed Sheng Ting’s orders, grabbing Jiang Nanxing’s hands and forcing them toward the floor. Though Jiang Nanxing appeared frail, the bodyguards had to push several times, and even then, she only bent at the waist slightly.

The bodyguards increased their force. Jiang Nanxing’s current body was simply too weak in terms of physical hardware, and she couldn't hold on, stumbling as she lunged toward the floor.

"President Sheng’s hospital room is certainly lively today." A careless, nonchalant voice echoed from outside the room.

Everyone stopped and looked toward the door. The man who entered was tall and robust, wearing a black shirt with the top two buttons undone, revealing a broad chest. His facial features were sharp, his nose bridge high, and his eyes deep. The corners of his eyes turned up slightly, carrying a hint of a casual smile. Several bodyguards followed behind him.

This was Qin Jiu, the villain of the story. *He arrived just in time.*

Sheng Ting’s expression turned dark as he gritted out, "What are you doing here?"

Jiang Nanxing took the opportunity to break free from the guards and collapsed onto the floor. She adopted a look of panic, her once-sturdy posture slumping as if trying to hide her disheveled state. She stammered, "President Qin..."

Qin Jiu stared at Jiang Nanxing’s slender neck, his eyes flickering. Just a moment ago, he had clearly seen Jiang Nanxing mouth the words: *Pull me up.* This woman seemed much more interesting than before.

Qin Jiu strode into the room, reached out a long arm, and grabbed Jiang Nanxing’s arm to pull her to her feet. "I was just at the hospital for a routine check-up and heard that President Sheng was ill, so I figured I had to come and take a look."

"I didn't expect to see President Sheng bullying a weak woman."

"I am truly surprised."

His tone was full of schadenfreude and mockery, and his excuse was perfunctory—since the Qin family owned their own hospital, there was no way he would go to a rival’s hospital for a check-up.

Jiang Nanxing played along, stumbling into Qin Jiu’s arms before quickly pulling away, her expression shy and timid, yet restrained.

Qin Jiu’s sudden appearance and the expression Jiang Nanxing had never shown him before completely shattered Sheng Ting’s sanity. He shoved Yao Xinyue away, scrambled out of bed, and lunged forward, grabbing Jiang Nanxing’s wrist and dragging her toward him with brute force. His eyes were bloodshot. "Jiang Nanxing! Since when have you been hooking up with Qin Jiu?"

Jiang Nanxing used a skillful maneuver to break his grip, then countered by grabbing his wrist and dislocating it. At the same time, she used her other hand to slap Sheng Ting across the face.

Jiang Nanxing said, furious, "Don't use words like 'hooking up' to insult President Qin!"

"Besides, what right does President Sheng have to interfere? I am nothing more than your secretary, your babysitter!"

With that, she turned to leave.

She was faking it. Between the dislocated wrist and the slapped face, Sheng Ting didn't know which to tend to first. Finally, stung by Jiang Nanxing’s words, he forgot the pain and instinctively grabbed her arm with his good hand. "Say that again!" his voice was thick and hoarse.

Jiang Nanxing looked back at him with a disappointed gaze. She reached out to pry Sheng Ting’s hand off, and perhaps she used a little too much force, causing it to snap—which was perfectly reasonable, right? "President Qin is right. You are just an arrogant, narcissistic, morally confused jerk who doesn't know how to respect others and has violent tendencies!"

Qin Jiu, watching from the sidelines, raised an eyebrow. He had said those things, but something felt off.

Sheng Ting shrunk back, his expression twisted. His hand now hung at an unnatural angle because it was broken.

Jiang Nanxing said with cold detachment, "President Sheng, I think we both need to calm down. I’ll be taking my leave now."

After saying this, she gave Qin Jiu a subtle look and turned to walk away.

Sheng Ting, his expression and posture both distorted, roared at her retreating back in a fit of rage, "Jiang Nanxing! You get back here!"

Under Jiang Nanxing’s careful guidance, Sheng Ting finally realized that the "white moonlight" she spoke of was Qin Jiu. Even though Jiang Nanxing had been madly in love with him, acting like a dog with no dignity, how could she have another white moonlight—and his archenemy at that! He didn't believe it!

[Ding! Mission milestone complete.]
[Heartbreak value +15. Total heartbreak value: 30.]

Hearing the system notification, Jiang Nanxing quickened her pace and left, feeling relieved.

The show was over, and Qin Jiu, of course, had to leave as well. Before he did, he didn't forget to pour oil on the fire. He sighed, "Miss Jiang has finally seen the light. It wasn't in vain that I put in so much effort."

He was quite the actor himself—that would be convenient for future collaborations.

Jiang Nanxing and Qin Jiu took the same elevator, while his bodyguards took another. Qin Jiu was a man who carried a certain wild, unrestrained air, yet his presence remained imposing. Sitting in the same elevator with him felt incredibly suffocating.

Deep in his eyes, there was a sense of inquiry. He spoke with a half-smile, "Miss Jiang, you truly surprise me."

The old Jiang Nanxing was so weak she let people push her around; she certainly didn't have the backbone she displayed today.
