Chapter 2: Seeking Medical Help
Soon, Ye Chen arrived at the airport.
As expected, he saw five or six men in black suits gathered on either side of the main entrance, interrogating every passenger entering the terminal.
Clearly, this woman was no ordinary figure—just a single word from her was enough to seal off the airport as if she were an official authority.
But no matter her background, it had nothing to do with Ye Chen. All he wanted now was to go home and reunite with his mother and sister.
He pressed one hand to his forehead, then slowly slid his palm down along his cheek. By the time his hand passed his chin, Ye Chen’s face had completely transformed.
This was a technique from that eccentric old man’s medical arts, known as “Facial Tendon Manipulation.” By stimulating acupoints and meridians on the face, one could subtly alter the features.
Once he had finished, Ye Chen walked nonchalantly past the bodyguards, escaping their notice entirely.
Yet he had underestimated these people.
Only a few minutes after he had boarded the plane, the woman appeared, leading a group of her subordinates as they burst into the cabin.
With her arrival, the other passengers fell silent, whispering in awe.
“Hey, I’ve seen that woman in magazines! She’s Zhou Qingyun, the Executive President of Zhongyu Group in the Imperial Capital! She looks even more stunning in person.”
“That’s right, it’s definitely Zhou Qingyun! I just saw on the news that the patriarch of the Zhou family is gravely ill, and Zhou Qingyun has come here seeking a mysterious doctor!”
“With the Zhou family’s wealth, whoever can cure her grandfather could bask in riches for a lifetime!”
So this woman, Zhou Qingyun, was truly an influential figure! Ye Chen couldn’t help but wonder—he had clearly fooled the bodyguards at the entrance. How had Zhou Qingyun managed to find him on the plane?
Ye Chen shrank down in his seat, using the backrest in front of him to shield his face.
Almost instantly, Zhou Qingyun’s cold gaze swept the cabin, locking onto Ye Chen.
She walked over and, her icy expression softening with a forced smile, addressed him.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Ye. I know I’m being abrupt, but my grandfather is on the brink of death. I have no choice but to use these means to force your hand. Please forgive me!”
Ye Chen frowned. “How do you know my name? And how did you know I was on this plane?”
With a trace of apology in her eyes, Zhou Qingyun replied evenly, “Mr. Ye, this airline is controlled by my family’s Zhongyu Group. Though you disguised yourself to fool the bodyguards at the entrance, you restored your appearance at security. The moment you did, I was notified through our internal systems.”
“So that’s how,” Ye Chen thought, suddenly finding the situation rather laughable.
If the airline itself belonged to her family, there was simply no way to avoid her.
Zhou Qingyun’s tone shifted as she bowed her head before Ye Chen and pleaded earnestly, “Mr. Ye, your ability to change your appearance so easily must be a legacy of the Ghost Doctor’s arts. Now that the Ghost Doctor has passed, you’re the only one who can save my grandfather. I beg you, please don’t refuse. No matter what conditions you set, I will agree!”
Her words caused a wave of shock to ripple through the cabin. For a formidable woman like Zhou Qingyun to humble herself so—such a scene was rare even in the vast Dragon Nation.
But Ye Chen only furrowed his brow, shaking his head as he turned her down.
“Miss Zhou, I’m sorry, but life and death are decreed by fate—no one can interfere. All I want right now is to go home; I have no interest in meddling in these affairs.”
His refusal sent another shock through the cabin.
What? He had just rejected Zhou Qingyun outright!
Everyone knew that Zhou Qingyun was the executive president of a company worth hundreds of billions. To fulfill her request would mean a life of boundless glory and wealth.
Yet this young man had turned her down without a second thought.
Ye Chen’s refusal brought tears to Zhou Qingyun’s eyes. Her grandfather was vital to both Zhongyu Group and herself. If Ye Chen refused to help, her grandfather was doomed.
Had she not encountered Ye Chen, she might have been able to let go, knowing the Ghost Doctor was gone. But now, knowing Ye Chen had inherited the Ghost Doctor’s skills, she could not give up hope.
With salvation just within reach, how could she abandon it? No matter what, she had to persuade Ye Chen to save her grandfather.
With this thought, Zhou Qingyun threw aside all pride and status. She took a step back, knelt gracefully on both knees before Ye Chen, and bowed deeply.
This act stunned everyone in the cabin, including Ye Chen himself.
The high-and-mighty executive president was kneeling before another person in public—a truly explosive event.
Ye Chen, deeply shocked, recalled something the old Ghost Doctor had once told him:
Only in the face of life and death does a person realize their own insignificance.
Kneeling on the floor, tears streaming down her face, Zhou Qingyun pleaded, “Mr. Ye, I beg you—please save my grandfather. No matter what, I won’t get up until you agree!”
Ye Chen’s frown deepened; for a woman like Zhou Qingyun to kneel before him was an immense pressure.
If he refused now, it was clear she would never stop pestering him, making matters even more troublesome.
Moreover, for someone as influential as Zhou Qingyun to kneel for her grandfather’s sake—her filial devotion moved Ye Chen.
“Please, get up first,” Ye Chen urged.
“No!” Zhou Qingyun replied firmly. “Mr. Ye, if you do not agree, I absolutely will not rise!”
Ye Chen’s brow tightened further. Helplessly, he said, “To be honest, I haven’t been home in five years. All I want is to go home, but your grandfather is in the Imperial Capital. If I go there to treat him, it’ll waste a lot of my time.”
Zhou Qingyun realized how critical her grandfather’s condition was. If she tried to bring him to Cloud City for treatment, he might not survive the journey.
Her eyes flashed as she thought of a solution. “Mr. Ye, how about this? Tell me your home address, and I’ll immediately arrange for someone to bring your mother and sister to the capital.”
“No,” Ye Chen refused decisively. “I’ve been gone for five years and know nothing of my mother’s current circumstances. Acting rashly could bring them trouble.”
Despair returned to Zhou Qingyun’s eyes.
At that moment, Ye Chen took a pill from his pocket and handed it to her.
“Miss Zhou, if you trust me, take this pill home and give it to your grandfather. Within a month, he will be safe and sound. Once I’ve settled my affairs at home, I’ll go to the capital to help him myself. If you don’t believe me, then there’s nothing more I can do.”
Seeing Ye Chen’s sincerity, and knowing he had inherited the Ghost Doctor’s legacy, Zhou Qingyun believed him.
She accepted the pill and rose to express her gratitude. “Thank you, Mr. Ye.”
Ye Chen then left his contact information with her.
A few minutes later, the plane to Cloud City took off.
Zhou Qingyun and her subordinates remained on the spot, watching the aircraft ascend into the sky.
She turned to her assistant and instructed, “Contact Li Ruhai, the wealthiest man in Cloud City, and tell him to take good care of Mr. Ye.”
“Yes, Miss!”
