Chapter 13: Compensation Is Necessary
“Mom, why are you here too?” Qin Sisi was utterly stunned upon seeing her mother. Could it be that her mother had agreed to let this man strip off her clothes?
“Sisi, we’ll talk about this later. Get dressed first!” Liu Lan knew these matters couldn’t be explained in a few words. She hurriedly found a clean set of clothes in the wardrobe for Qin Sisi to change into.
As for Ye Chen, she didn’t ask him to leave. After all, he’d already seen and touched everything. Whether he stayed or not made little difference.
Ye Chen, however, turned his head away of his own accord, not looking at Qin Sisi as she changed.
Soon, Qin Sisi was dressed. She glared angrily at Liu Lan and said, “Mom, don’t believe him! How could treating an illness require taking off my clothes? I wasn’t having surgery!”
“That man obviously took advantage of the situation to molest me. You should call someone immediately to gouge out his eyes and break his legs!”
Qin Sisi wished she could kill Ye Chen. She’d been single for twenty-two years, her body untouched and pure, only for Ye Chen to take advantage of her now.
Ye Chen frowned. It seemed this Miss Qin was truly ruthless. If only he hadn’t saved her five years ago!
“Nonsense!” Liu Lan shot Qin Sisi a look. “I’ll explain everything later. For now, apologize to Ye Chen. I’m going to call your father in!”
“You’ve been in a coma for half a month. Your father and I were worried sick. You never give us a moment’s peace!” Liu Lan scolded as she stepped out.
Now, only Ye Chen and Qin Sisi were left in the room.
Qin Sisi snorted coldly, glaring daggers at Ye Chen. “You bastard! You took advantage of me. Don’t think you can fool my mother and get away with it. I have a thousand ways to make you wish you were dead!”
Hearing this, Ye Chen’s temper flared as well. He glanced at Qin Sisi, and said coldly, “If I’d known you were so unreasonable, I wouldn’t have saved you. Better you were dead.”
“Hmph, did I ask you to save me?” Qin Sisi strutted over to Ye Chen, looking at him with haughty disdain. “This isn’t over!”
“So be it,” Ye Chen shrugged indifferently. “I’ve already seen and touched every inch of you. Do as you please.”
“I’ll do as I please—my foot!” Qin Sisi’s face flushed red with anger, and she raised her hand to slap Ye Chen again.
At that moment, the door was pushed open. Qin Hongcai, Liu Lan, and Doctor Liu entered the room. Qin Sisi’s hand was still raised, poised to strike.
“Qin Sisi, stop right there!” Qin Hongcai’s face was dark as he glared at her.
Though he was delighted that his daughter, who’d been at death’s door moments ago, was now so full of life, he was troubled by her rudeness toward Ye Chen. He’d already heard from Liu Lan that Sisi woke up furious, accusing Ye Chen of seeing her naked.
Qin Sisi was their only child, and the Qin family was wealthy and powerful. She had always been pampered. Willful, eccentric, spoiled with a princess complex—she had all these traits.
Still, she gave her father some face and didn’t attack Ye Chen. Instead, she ran to Qin Hongcai, pouting and clinging to his arm. “Dad, look at this man—how brazen he is! He used my illness as an excuse to take advantage of me!”
“Your precious daughter has been seen naked by him! How can you tolerate that?” Qin Sisi blinked her bright eyes at him.
Qin Hongcai shot her a look. “Stop this nonsense. If not for Ye Chen, you’d be dead by now!”
“That’s right,” Liu Lan chimed in, defending Ye Chen. “Sisi, you should be thanking Ye Chen, not blaming him. He’s saved your life twice!”
“Twice?” Qin Sisi looked at her mother in confusion. “Mom, what’s with you and Dad today, siding with an outsider? When did he save me twice? It was only once, and he took advantage of me!”
Qin Hongcai said in a low voice, “Ye Chen is the man who saved you five years ago.”
“Huh?” Qin Sisi froze for a couple of seconds before turning to Ye Chen. “You were the one who saved me five years ago?” Her eyes showed a hint of guilt.
She’d heard about that incident. After Ye Chen had saved her, he disappeared. Some said the Wang family had harmed him. She wanted to stand up for Ye Chen, but couldn’t find any proof. In the end, she could only compensate Ye Chen’s mother and sister with four million yuan.
Ye Chen nodded and said coolly, “If I’d known five years ago that you were so unreasonable, I’d never have saved you, not for anything.”
This remark instantly swept away any lingering guilt Qin Sisi felt. As a girl, being stripped and seen naked—what girl could accept that?
Her parents’ words had made her realize Ye Chen probably had no choice, and if he’d just spoken a few kind words, she would have let it go. But Ye Chen was so blunt and tactless, it made her feel even worse.
“Sisi, keep quiet and stand aside!” Qin Hongcai saw the two about to quarrel again and sternly stopped her.
Qin Sisi, used to being spoiled, was unfazed. She wasn’t afraid of her father.
Fortunately, Liu Lan quickly pulled her daughter to her side. “Sisi, don’t get involved. Let your father talk business with Ye Chen.”
“Hmph…” Qin Sisi sulked beside her mother.
Once his daughter was settled, Qin Hongcai smiled at Ye Chen. “Brother Ye, you’ve saved Sisi twice. You’re a great benefactor to our family. I want to thank you properly—just name whatever you want!”
Ye Chen paused, thinking there were so many things he needed: money, a house, and everything to make life better for his mother and sister.
But then he remembered that the Qin family had already given the Ye family four million yuan. That was already a great kindness. Though he was in need, he felt embarrassed to ask for more.
He waved his hand. “Uncle Qin, let’s leave it at that. Your family already helped my mother and sister with four million. I only came today to repay a debt of gratitude. I expect nothing in return.”
Qin Hongcai, a man who valued loyalty, immediately objected. “That won’t do, Brother Ye. Each matter stands on its own. You’ve saved Sisi’s life twice. Our family must properly compensate you.”
