16. Nami’s Twisted Love!
The Conqueror Chu laughed softly.
Before Nami spoke, there had been many guesses, but none hit the mark.
To save Cocoyashi Village, Nami was willing to become his goddaughter?
As soon as the words left her mouth, Nami regretted it, pressing her lips tightly, unable to utter another word.
“Nami, you really are a fool! Why would you say such a thoughtless thing?”
“Even if he possesses the terrifying power to defeat Fishman Arlong, what reason does he have to help a mere pirate like you?”
“Besides, he has such a beautiful and charming wife. Surely, in time, she will bear daughters far more adorable than you.”
“Nami, you shouldn’t have spoken! Stop harboring unrealistic fantasies! Chu, the Conqueror, is a man you will never have in your life!”
...
In her heart, Nami felt like she was in a movie, tears silently streaming down her face like a fragile woman abandoned by her husband, homeless and forlorn.
Truly, one would feel pity at first sight!
“Ridiculous! Why the sudden tears?” Chu’s angry shout startled Nami, the tears rolling relentlessly in her eyes.
“Does being my daughter embarrass you so much? Why can't you speak properly? Why protest with tears?”
“Nami, let me tell you! With my strength now, there are people lined up from Marine Headquarters in Marineford all the way to the Holy Land Mary Geoise, wanting to be my sons and daughters!”
“Do you feel wronged to be my daughter? I’ll tell you, I don’t even care if you become my daughter!”
“I’m giving you one last chance: if you want to be my daughter, wipe your tears clean. If anyone saw this, they’d think I, Chu the Conqueror, kidnapped some naive girl!”
Chu’s greatest weakness in life was probably a girl’s tears.
When Kaya first pursued him, it was her tears that broke down Chu’s defenses, allowing her to win the handsome man’s heart.
Now Nami was trying the same trick—wanting to become Chu’s daughter.
Chu inwardly grumbled, “Now I truly understand—women are made of water, that saying is absolutely true! Always crying and whining, it’s so annoying!”
Nami was stunned.
She was originally a thief who toyed with hearts and stole treasures.
Even when Luffy invited her to join the Straw Hat Pirates, her only intention was to steal their treasures.
But she never imagined that she wouldn’t steal their treasure at all.
Instead, it was Chu the Conqueror who stole her heart!
What was even more despairing was that Chu was already taken!
Even if she mustered the courage to pursue him, at best she’d only earn the reputation of a homewrecker!
Nami was on the brink of collapse.
She had thought she would never fall for any man.
But she was wrong.
Chu’s gentle elegance, his many talents, his ruthless protection of his loved ones, his radiant smile...
Like a parasite embedded in her bones, Nami suffered constant torment.
She knew well that Chu was simply traveling the world with his wife, Kaya.
Perhaps tomorrow, or even today, he could leave and say goodbye.
Nami was afraid.
Afraid Chu would leave the Merry, leave the Straw Hat crew, disappear from her sight...
Chu brought her joy and a long-lost sense of security.
She no longer wanted a life without Chu.
So Nami expressed her twisted love in another way, sacrificing herself once again.
“If I become his goddaughter, I can cling to him and travel the world, right? Though it’s disgraceful, this is the only way I can think of.”
They say women in love lose all reason; even the once clever and composed Nami could not escape this curse...
When Nami finally stopped crying, Chu gently cupped her small face in his hands, looking down at her.
“Enough, no more tears. That’s a good daughter for her daddy. Since you are my daughter, no one should bully you!”
“Here, consider this a gift from me.”
Chu’s heart ached as he reluctantly took out an ancient box from the system space and handed it to Nami.
“Wh-what is this?”
Nami opened the antique box to find a shining embroidered needle resting on crimson silk.
Chu explained through the pain:
“The Ruyi Jingu Bang—originally forged by the Supreme Elder Lord, a divine iron. Later borrowed by Yu the Great to control the floods, leaving behind the Sea-Calming Divine Iron in the East Sea.”
“Wow!”
Nami’s eyes widened in awe as she watched the Ruyi Jingu Bang gradually transform into a weapon as tall as a person. Covering her mouth, she exclaimed in shock:
“Is this a divine artifact? It can change shape at will according to the wielder’s intent?”
Before her eyes, the appearance of the Ruyi Jingu Bang had greatly changed!
