Chapter Twelve: Senior, My Legs Are Weak—Could You Give Me a Kiss?
Page 1/3
Escape—first, I must get out of here.
In this moment of extreme tension, Gu Chen’s cultivation technique, the Profound Heart Skill, activated automatically, rendering him remarkably calm.
This rare and exquisite flower must be incredibly valuable; it cannot be abandoned!
He had two Oscars on him, some rapid-flight mushroom sausages made to repay debts, and a few large recovery sausages. Combined with the stealth ability of his Martial Soul, escape was not out of the question.
Having resolved everything in his mind, Gu Chen decided to take a risk.
“Fortune favors the bold,” he murmured, swallowing a rapid-flight mushroom sausage. With a strong push from his feet, he swiftly headed toward the dragon-shaped flower. The Shadow Abyss Wolf sensed this and moved as well.
Leaping into the air, the wolf left multiple afterimages behind, its speed nearly matching Gu Chen’s, despite the latter’s rapid-flight boost.
Watching the wolf draw nearer, Gu Chen accelerated again, flipping several times midair before diving sharply. Just before the wolf pounced, he grabbed the root of the dragon-shaped flower and fled.
“Roar...” The dragon-shaped flower emitted a deep, resonant dragon’s cry once more.
“Grrr...” The Shadow Abyss Wolf bellowed in rage, its eyes burning with fury, longing to tear the human before it apart.
It had guarded this rare flower for over three centuries. Finally, on the day it blossomed, two uninvited guests appeared.
How could it bear this? Yet, this lowly human had somehow managed to move faster than itself.
Unforgivable, utterly unforgivable!
“Grrr...” The wolf entered a berserk state, its body swelling from four meters to five, growing as large as a small hill. Its eyes gleamed with cold red light as it opened its mouth and unleashed three consecutive blasts of black energy into the air.
The black energy spheres rapidly expanded, plunging the previously dimly lit cave into utter darkness.
Then Gu Chen heard multiple sharp cracking sounds rushing toward him.
The cave was too dark; he couldn’t see the path ahead. Closing his eyes, he relied on his spiritual perception to flee in one direction.
As he escaped, he felt the wolf’s fury nearly setting the sky ablaze, its rage converging upon his heart.
Gu Chen couldn’t help but smile wryly...
With the Profound Heart Skill automatically converting this hostile energy into his own power, he managed to break through two minor cultivation stages within a mere minute of flight, reaching the fifth rank of Soul Master.
The benefits of this breakthrough were clear—his spiritual perception extended much farther.
He chose a relatively concealed forest and sped through it.
The rapid flight consumed his soul energy at an alarming rate. Though he had just advanced in rank, the replenished energy was soon depleted again.
He couldn’t keep flying blindly any longer.
“Super recovery large sausage.” Gu Chen stuffed several of these into his mouth, restoring some of his soul energy.
With the rapid-flight effect lasting only one more second, he landed on a large tree.
Immediately, he reverted to his chameleon Martial Soul and concealed himself.
Just a second after Lu Mingwei vanished from sight, the Shadow Abyss Wolf arrived.
Upon landing, it quickly scanned the area but found nothing. Frustrated, it howled wildly through the forest.

Low-level soul beasts scattered in fear, while the wolf’s howls caught the attention of someone nearby.
That person was Zhu Zhuqing, waiting on the forest’s edge for Gu Chen.
Worried for his safety, Zhu Zhuqing had quietly followed him fifteen minutes after he entered Andrew Forest, intending to protect him from the shadows.
She hadn’t followed him inside immediately because until then, she had always accompanied Gu Chen into the forest.
During that time, no high-level soul beasts had appeared. After Gu Chen caught a dozen or so Scarlet Flame Rats, he had started slacking off, coaxing her with sweet words to help him.
Unable to bear seeing Gu Chen punished, Zhu Zhuqing always relented.
Today, she decided to push Gu Chen to complete the mission alone, while she guarded him secretly.
Because Gu Chen’s perception far surpassed ordinary people, Zhu Zhuqing did not follow him instantly but waited fifteen minutes before entering the forest.
However, after entering, she noticed something was very wrong with Andrew Forest that day.
No matter how she walked, she kept returning to the same spot. Though her direction was correct, she couldn’t penetrate deeper.
This made her increasingly worried about Gu Chen’s safety.
Hearing the wolf’s howl nearby, her instincts told her Gu Chen must be there. With that thought, she hurried toward the Shadow Abyss Wolf’s location.
Zhu Zhuqing, a swift-attack type Soul Master, outran the wolf’s speed by a wide margin and arrived in less than a minute.
Sensing a powerful presence approaching, the wolf realized it had overreached and let out a plaintive “Awoo.”
Its sudden sharp turn nearly caused Gu Chen to fall from the tree.
When Zhu Zhuqing arrived, she saw the forest devastated by the wolf’s rampage. Scanning the area, she found no trace of Gu Chen and was about to leave.
Suddenly, a voice called behind her: “Senior Sister Zhu Qing.”
Turning around, she saw Gu Chen’s exhausted face peeking through the leaves, looking somewhat comical. She couldn’t help but laugh aloud.
“Hehe... Junior Brother Gu, what are you hiding there for?”
“Senior Sister, I just passed a cave and saw a very beautiful flower. I wanted to pick it for you, but this beast chased me all the way here.”
“You actually escaped from a Soul Sovereign-level beast. Impressive, Junior Brother!”
“Of course—I have to keep up with who trains with me every day!”
Gu Chen looked down on her cheekily, unabashedly admiring her deep valleys and shallow grooves.
Zhu Zhuqing wasn’t angry—perhaps she was just used to his antics.
Meanwhile, the once-arrogant Shadow Abyss Wolf stood motionless, warily eyeing Zhu Zhuqing.
“Junior Brother Gu, what do you intend to do with this old wolf?”
“Let it go. I already have its flower; there’s no need to kill it.”
“Alright.”
“Get lost.”

Hearing this, the Shadow Abyss Wolf felt as if pardoned. Though reluctant, it valued its life and quickly fled.
“All done, Junior Brother Gu. It’s gone now. You can come down.”
“Senior Sister, my legs are weak. Can you help me?”
“You...”
Zhu Zhuqing glanced at Gu Chen with a charming look. She lightly tapped her toes and leapt to his side.
“How do you want me to help?”
“Simple. Just give me a kiss to give me some strength!”
“All right!” Zhu Zhuqing smiled alluringly, a gleam of brilliance flashing in her eyes as she leaned in to bestow a kiss.
Gu Chen embraced her slender waist accordingly, but the next moment, he felt his body lighten and, like a kite with a broken string, flew backward.
“Thud...” A muffled sound followed as Gu Chen’s body smashed into a huge bush trunk and slid down.
Seeing no increase in his soul energy, Gu Chen felt a bit disappointed. Not even angry?
Sigh...
It seemed unlikely he would get any rage energy from Zhu Zhuqing. He dared not make any extreme moves; otherwise, he might end up in even more trouble.
“Senior Sister Zhu Qing, look at this.”
Gu Chen pulled the dragon-shaped flower from his storage pouch and presented it to Zhu Zhuqing.
“Roar...” A low, deep dragon’s cry came from the tiny dragon entwined around the flower.
Seeing the flower, Zhu Zhuqing froze, her breath quickening, her body trembling with excitement.
“This... this is the Netherworld Dragon Cry Flower. Where did you get it?” she asked, visibly moved.
“From a nearby cave, probably the den of the Shadow Abyss Wolf that just fled.”
“Take me there sometime. This celestial herb is a holy medicine, and there are usually many rare companion spirit herbs nearby.”
“As for this Netherworld Dragon Cry Flower, it might not benefit you much, but for Netherworld attribute Martial Souls, it’s as valuable as the Water Fairy Jade Bone.”
“Junior Brother Gu, would you be willing to part with this herb? I can offer other treasures in exchange, and if that’s not enough, I’ll compensate you later.”
“No need for compensation. This herb is a gift for Senior Sister. In the future, when your strength grows, you can give me a suitable one.”
“Hmm.” Zhu Zhuqing was not one to fuss and readily agreed, silently noting Gu Chen’s kindness.
