Stepping forward, he gently tugged at Jiang Yiran’s sleeve. His voice was as soft as a mosquito’s buzz, seemingly hesitant: “Brother Yiran, there are so many people here. I’m feeling a bit unwell. Let’s leave first.”

Jiang Yiran glanced around; indeed, the crowd was growing denser by the moment.

The stagnant air was not good for Ruan An’an’s health.

He sighed softly, stroking her hair with a tender voice: “Alright, then we’ll go upstairs first. I’ll take you back to the classroom.”

In his hand, he still held Ruan An’an’s pink backpack as he was about to look for Jiang Wuyang.

But he realized Jiang Wuyang had already walked away alone.

A surge of frustration welled up inside him, stuck between rising and falling.

When did his own sister, whom he had raised with his own hands, become so spoiled?

Turning back to see Ruan An’an, he felt a deep sense of relief.

He always knew that An’an was the sensible one.

He accompanied Ruan An’an to the classroom door.

He gently patted her head: “If anything comes up, just tell your brother.”

“Today, you’ll come back with me. Your room at home is already prepared.”

Ruan An’an’s joy was almost impossible to hide upon hearing this.

Yet on her face, she feigned concern: “But… will Sister Wuyang mind? It’s okay, Brother Yiran. Living by myself outside is the same.”

She deliberately emphasized “living alone,” hoping to awaken Jiang Yiran’s memory.

It was also a reminder.

Not to forget the cause of their father’s death.

As expected, upon hearing this, Jiang Yiran immediately comforted her: “Don’t worry. Jiang Wuyang also welcomes you here.”

Ruan An’an smiled faintly, her face full of gratitude: “Thank you so much, Brother Yiran. Without you both, I wouldn’t know what to do.”

Jiang Yiran smiled, catching a glimpse of Jiang Wuyang sitting at her desk reading a book.

He sighed inwardly, yet said nothing.

Well, Wuyang’s immaturity wasn’t something new.

Expecting her to reform just this once was unrealistic.

No matter, as the eldest brother and father figure, he had plenty of time to guide her properly.

Unaware of Jiang Yiran’s thoughts, Jiang Wuyang sat at her desk, overwhelmed by the science textbook before her.

If she knew what he was thinking, she’d probably just call him crazy.

Jiang Wuyang stared at the political science textbook, her vision darkening.

Being forced to memorize this stuff was worse than death.

She had never been cut out for liberal arts, but back in sophomore year when choosing subjects, her brother’s words rang in her ears: “Girls aren’t quick-witted enough; they should study liberal arts. Liberal arts have the future. It’s easier to get government jobs or official positions.”

So she resolutely chose liberal arts.

She thought that way, she would become the most obedient child in her brother’s eyes.

If so, his attention would be divided a bit, no longer just focused on Ruan An’an.

But later on, she overheard her dearest brother say in a doting tone: “An’an can choose whatever she wants. We don’t expect her to earn money. As long as she’s happy, that’s what matters.”

Only then did she realize that her usually rational brother had this side too.

Thinking of this, Jiang Wuyang couldn’t help but scoff quietly.

Then she pulled her thoughts back.

Her gaze landed on the wildly imaginative textbook.

Melancholy, she rested her chin in her hand.

This liberal arts subject was definitely no longer for her.

She naturally preferred science. Her ultimate goal was to develop precision surgical machinery!

So right now, her top priority was to ask the head teacher for a subject change!

Let whoever wanted this suffocating liberal arts study it.

Lost in thought, a sudden shout interrupted her.

“Jiang Wuyang!”

She instinctively stood up.

“Present!”

Her sudden move caused the whole class to burst into laughter.

“Teacher, just stop calling Jiang Wuyang. She never answers anyway.”

“Yeah, teacher, look at her. Did she just wake up?”

The geography teacher knocked on two desks with a protractor to hush the noise.

“Quiet down, everyone!”

“Jiang Wuyang, what answer did you choose for this question? Why isn’t the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge built in a straight line?”

Jiang Wuyang looked at the question on the blackboard, her mouth twitching.

She picked the most absurd answer on instinct.

“B. To reduce drivers’ visual fatigue and prevent accidents.”

Hearing her answer, the geography teacher’s expression softened.

“Sit down. Pay attention next time and don’t daydream.”

Jiang Wuyang smiled awkwardly and sat down beside An’an.

Having been called out, she dared not drift off again, forcing herself to stay awake.

When the bell rang for the next class, Jiang Wuyang immediately followed the geography teacher to the office.

Ruan An’an watched Jiang Wuyang’s retreating figure, thoughtful.

“An’an, I heard your brother brought you to school again today?”

A classmate’s gossip interrupted her thoughts.

Ruan An’an shyly smiled and nodded.

“Yes. Was it too showy? I told him not to drive the car inside.”

“But Brother worries about your health and doesn’t want you to walk, so he drove the car in.”

The classmates’ faces filled with envy.

“Oh my gosh, An’an, I’m so jealous you have such a good brother.”

“As far as I know, cars need to be registered to enter. During this strict period, only vehicles belonging to the school board are allowed inside, not even teachers’ cars!”

Another well-informed classmate chimed in.

“Oh my god, An’an, you can’t be the school board’s daughter, right?”

Ruan An’an merely smiled without saying a word, stood up and walked a few steps.

“You guys go ahead, I’m going to the restroom.”

Everyone watched her leave with envy.

Even though all were students, how different their fates were…

Inside the teachers’ office.

Geography teacher Lin sat at his desk, grading assignments one by one.

Seeing Jiang Wuyang standing robotically nearby, he asked: “Speak. What do you want?”

Jiang Wuyang licked her lips, unusually nervous: “Teacher, I want to change classes.”

Lin paused grading and looked up, puzzled: “Change classes? You want to transfer to Class B?”

At Yun City No. 1 High School, after the sophomore split between arts and science, there were advanced classes and regular classes.

Advanced classes were Class A; regular classes were collectively called Class B.

Jiang Wuyang was only in Class A thanks partly to her father’s generous financial contributions and her own decent grades.

It was barely enough to keep her in Class A.

When she first joined Class A, Jiang Yiran had advised her to switch to Class B.

He said the pace in Class A was too fast for her and she’d only struggle more.

His sanctimonious tone made her want to laugh.

Later, when she refused to listen and insisted on staying in Class A, he arrogantly warned her not to blame him if she couldn’t keep up, as he had already warned her.

But when Ruan An’an wanted to enter Class A, he used every method and effort to get her in.

He even didn’t hesitate to call in their father’s influence to pave the way for An’an.

The disgusting attitude he had then still made her sick to think about.

Hearing the teacher’s words, Jiang Wuyang shook her head: “Teacher, I want to transfer to the science class.”
