The system activated.
[Host: Du Yu]
[Luck Points: 230]
Opening the Luck Points Shop:
“Net (Durability 100/100) 10 Luck Points: Chance to increase the size of captured creatures.”
“Bucket 100 Luck Points: Extra-large capacity.”
“Fishing Rod 1000 Luck Points: Easier to catch rare sea fish.”
“Bait (1 portion) 1 Luck Point: Speeds up the hooking of sea fish.”
Looking at the newly appeared items, Du Yu didn’t know how they came about, but he still swallowed the drool forming at the corner of his mouth.
This was practically cheating.
At the bottom, Du Yu noticed a line of small text: “Each time the host finds a rare seafood, the Luck Points Shop updates with new items.”
There’s such a good deal??? No blind boxes?
After some thought, Du Yu decided to purchase a bucket first.
If only he had an extra-large bucket earlier, he could have brought home more blue crabs.
Seeing the bucket appear in his hand, Du Yu felt a bit curious. Yet, looking it over from every angle, it seemed like an ordinary bucket.
Du Yu rolled his eyes mischievously.
He decided to try something different.
Ten minutes later, Du Yu gaped at the bucket.
Just now, he had dumped all his senior year review materials into it. Though it looked small, the bucket had an astonishing capacity.
This wasn’t just a bucket; it was a small warehouse.
Truly worthy of being an item from the Luck Points Shop—so practical.
This made Du Yu look forward to the 1000 Luck Points fishing rod.
Time flew to the next day.
Early in the morning, Du Yu was woken by urgent knocking on the door. He didn’t need to think twice—it was Wang Xiaowei.
That brat dared to knock like that.
With half-closed eyes, Du Yu opened the door, yawned, and headed back to his bedroom.
“Brother Yu! Let’s hurry to the city. Didn’t you promise to take me to the Red Hair Salon…”
“Wait, I’m going to change. Look at you, no sense of dress, always thinking about the Red Hair Salon.”
Du Yu yawned as he spoke irritably.

Wang Xiaowei swallowed his words, scratched his shaved head, grinned foolishly, and without caring about being dirty, sat down at the door.
The village morning was misty, roosters crowing, distant mountains faintly visible—everything brimming with vitality.
Soon Du Yu was fully dressed and came out, waving his hand. Wang Xiaowei happily followed behind, while Du Yu rubbed his forehead.
Great, here we go again.
Carrying the live blue crabs, Du Yu felt exhilarated. To keep the crabs fresh overnight, he had gotten up several times to change their water.
Hence, the dark circles under his eyes.
But the surge of adrenaline banished any sleepiness. He knew well that if the old man bought this bucket of blue crabs, he would have the capital to start his venture.
After a long trek along the mountain paths, they finally reached the main road. After paying the ticket clerk four yuan, they boarded the bus.
Wang Xiaowei rarely left the village and was fascinated by everything outside. His face pressed almost flat against the window, he pointed eagerly at the endless mountains in the distance.
Du Yu felt a headache coming on.
After a shaky ride of several dozen minutes, the surroundings began to show signs of city life. Du Yu knew they had arrived.
He handed the bucket to Wang Xiaowei, and the two got off the bus.
“Hey, Brother Yu, your bucket looks small but can hold a lot! I think I could carry ten more buckets!”
Wang Xiaowei proudly flexed his arm.
Du Yu smirked slightly—you're a bucket too, and an extra-large one at that, capable of holding even more.
Without wasting time, Du Yu quickly found the address the old man had given.
Wang Xiaowei was still clamoring about eating good food and visiting the Red Hair Salon but was silenced by Du Yu’s: “Business first.”
Like a scolded child, Wang Xiaowei obediently followed behind.
The neighborhood was modest but very clean, making a good first impression on Du Yu.
He realized it resembled the residential area where the cadre from his previous life had lived. This old man was surely a retired cadre.
Following the house number, Du Yu soon found the right place. Wang Xiaowei sneaked forward, about to knock, but Du Yu stopped him.
“I’ll do it.”
“It’s just knocking—I can do it too.”
Wang Xiaowei muttered in dissatisfaction.
Du Yu smiled without replying. He made a fist with his right hand and gently knocked three times with his knuckles: “Hello, is anyone home?”
Wang Xiaowei looked at Du Yu in confusion—why make such a fuss about knocking?
Before Wang Xiaowei could think further, the door opened.

The person who opened the door was the familiar old man.
“Hello, sir. This is the bucket of large blue crabs I mentioned yesterday. Please feel free to inspect them.”
Du Yu pointed to the bucket in Wang Xiaowei’s hands.
“Ha ha ha, very good, very good! You young people are straightforward—getting straight to the point without beating around the bush. I like that!”
The old man laughed heartily.
Wang Xiaowei was stunned, wondering if the old man liked men.
Du Yu quickly took out the big blue crabs for the old man to inspect. The old man gently sniffed and examined them carefully, making Du Yu silently admire his expertise.
The old man clearly knew a lot about blue crabs.
“Hmm, these are indeed top-quality large blue crabs. I’ll take them all. Seventy yuan each. How about that?”
At these words, Wang Xiaowei’s eyelids twitched violently. He tugged Du Yu’s sleeve lightly—seventy yuan per crab, eighteen crabs total, that’s 1,260 yuan. In 2002, that was a significant sum!
“No problem, sir. There’s even a soft-shell crab included—it’s just a token of my goodwill.”
Du Yu felt a secret thrill but spoke calmly.
The old man looked deeply at Du Yu, a spark of approval flashing in his eyes.
“Good boy, you’ve got heart! My surname’s Shi. Just call me Old Shi!”
The old man regarded Du Yu highly.
“Alright, Old Shi. I’m Du Yu, and this is my friend, Wang Xiaowei.”
Du Yu replied quickly.
Old Shi was quite pleased and waved his hand grandly.
“Come, Du, Wang, have lunch at my place today. It’s just a matter of setting out a couple more bowls.”
“Thank you for the trouble, Old Shi.”
After a brief hesitation, Du Yu agreed without fuss. He knew this might be an opportunity!
Du Yu’s spirits lifted.
Old Shi nodded slightly, secretly thinking this boy didn’t seem like he came from the countryside.
“Old Shi, after you!” The two followed him into the living room, leaving a bewildered Wang Xiaowei behind.
Wait, wasn’t he supposed to be taken to the Red Hair Salon??
